Sheriffs from Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas are suffering from a "crisis of conscience" because Colorado law forbids them from busting dope-smoking hippies. Read the rest
One should understand that the Justice Department did not simply find indirect evidence of unintentionally racist practices which harm black people, but "discriminatory intent”—that is to say willful racism aimed to generate cash. Justice in Ferguson is not a matter of "racism without racists," but racism with racists so secure, so proud, so brazen that they used their government emails to flaunt it.
And…
The residents of Ferguson do not have a police problem. They have a gang problem. That the gang operates under legal sanction makes no difference. It is a gang nonetheless, and there is no other word to describe an armed band of collection agents.
General David Petraeus with his lover, Paula Broadwell, to whom the former CIA chief leaked secret material that would likely have landed a civilian in prison for life.
General and former CIA director David Petraeus shared damaging information with his lover/biographer, and will receive what amounts to a slap on the wrist for his indiscretion. So why do whistleblowers like Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden face such bleak prison sentences, or worse, for what the US classifies as Espionage Act offenses? Read the rest
Following on the news that the (likely NSA-affiliated) Equation Group has developed a suite of firmware attacks that target the software embedded in your hard-drive and other subcomponents, it's time to expand the practice of information security to the realm of embedded software.

Since 1987, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists has been counting up each country's nuclear arsenal in its Nuclear Notebook, peeling back the veil of secrecy that often surrounds these numbers. The Bulletin has now gone and made its Nuclear Notebook into a neat interactive graphic.
Over the last year or so, German street artist 1010 (previously) created several of his fantastic spray paint portals in locations around Germany, Panama, and the United States. 1010 brings surprising layers of depth to drab facades and blank gallery walls by painting concentric layers of color. The artist most recently had a solo show at Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco titled Limbus. You can see more over on Juxtapoz and on Facebook.
those are literally not fucking crow babies goddammit how many times do i have to tell you fuckers those are rail chicks
Crows build nests. Their young are helpless and not very fluffy. They can’t walk when they’re tiny like these are doing.
These are baby crows:
this is 10000% a completely unnecessarily nasty response, jesus god. you’re screaming at a sixteen year old kid on the internet for making a completely innocent and harmless mistake (one that google images also makes) i guess because you feel the need to prove you are the MOST BIRDEST? i don’t know. tumblr, you do this shit a lot, turning what should be a gentle and friendly correction about unimportant stuff into a bellowing tirade about how you can’t belieeeeeve someone could be so stupid as to not know the difference between altricial and precocial birds. it’s fucked up. stop fucking doing it.
i know it’s easy to get frustrated by misinformation touted as fact on tumblr, but shit like this is not life or death. it’s not social justice. youranimeprince isn’t in some position to forever destroy the nesting habits of corvids. they are sixteen, and they wanted to look at some cute fluffy baby animals. have like a fraction of a SMIDGEON of compassion for how upsetting it is to innocently post something cute and inoffensive and return to find people furious at you.
if you want those misinformed tumblr kids to stop being so misinformed, then fucking educate them kindly. if you feel that you can’t be kind, then honestly fuck off and let one of us be the adult instead.
^This. So much this.
We need to be kind in our corrections. We need to make it OKAY to be wrong. If you are the teacher (literal or metaphorical) who makes a student feel like an idiot, eventually everyone will stop raising their hands and learning will stop.
It is OKAY to make mistakes. It is okay to be wrong. Encourage, do not condemn.
MOST BIRDEST THOUGH.
^TTTTTTHHHHIIIISSSSSSSSSSSS "if you feel that you can’t be kind, then honestly fuck off and let one of us be the adult instead."
Since Eurovision last year I’ve seen a ton of people confusing Conchita as a beacon of transgender pride and it’s always irked me. She isn’t transgender and has never claimed as such, as the image set here shows. She seems very respectful towards people who are, in fact, transgender, and I’m glad she’s taken so much time to clarify the difference between the drag persona of Conchita Wurst (and her male performer) and what being transgender actually is.
Oh man, this is a sad day. Former staff today reported – later confirmed by EA – that the heart of Maxis, the studio behind The Sims & Sim City, is to be ripped out. While satellite studios in Redwood Shores, Salt Lake City, Helsinki and Melbourne remain, the Emeryville headquarters was Maxis as we knew it. It’s had a chequered recent history, particularly with regard to the most recent SimCity, but without a doubt this was a legendary developer.
Forbes profiles Markus "Notch" Persson, the creator of Minecraft.
So with well over half his life ahead of him, the man who created an entire universe, whose persona was synonymous with it and who received the wrath of his community for abandoning it, must now figure out exactly who he is.
She and her husband are protesting not about paying taxes per se, but to the selective enforcement of the rules and the coddling of corporate entities such as HSBC:
Wise spoke of his disgust with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and the bank after the Guardian and other news organisations published leaked details of 100,000 accounts held by HSBC’s Swiss arm which showed how the bank had helped clients to move cash out of the country.
“I want to stop paying tax, until everyone pays tax,” Wise told the Evening Standard. “I have actively loved paying tax, because I am a profound fucking socialist and I believe we are all in it together. But I am disgusted with HMRC. I am disgusted with HSBC. And I’m not paying a penny more until those evil bastards go to prison.”..
“Em’s on board. She agrees. We’re going to get a load of us together. A movement. They can’t send everyone to prison. But we’ll go to prison if necessary. I mean it.
