Birds of Costa Rica
Cooper GriggsNice tail.
The wildlife of Costa Rica is a major attraction for photographers, especially because of the abundance of exotic bird species, including a variety of toucans and resplendents.
See, and share, more photos in the Costa Rican Birds and Costa Rica group.

Jack Vale Freaks Strangers Out by Talking About Personal Information That They Posted on Social Media
Prankster Jack Vale recently freaked strangers out at the beach by walking up to them and talking about personal information he gathered from their social media updates. Jack has tried this social media experiment out in the past, but this time he goes for more of a stalker vibe.
I stalked people at the beach by researching their social media profiles. How did I find them? They all posted public pictures of themselves on Instagram and Twitter! And so the quest began!

Hunting Trophies: Repurposed Vintage Bike Parts Converted into Functional Taxidermy Racks
Vienna-based designer Andreas Scheiger created this fun series of faux taxidermy heads using a bunch of found bicycle seats and handlebars. The pieces can serve as fun art objects, or as functional hooks for holding bags, coats, and even other bicycles. Several of them are for sale over on his website, or you can see how he did it and maybe attempt your own. (via Fubiz)
Update: Several of you have mentioned that these are pieces appear to be a modern interpretation of Picasso’s Tête de taureau.
Giant Wind-Up Bots Overtake the Streets of Buenos Aires
In this latest clip from Fernando Livschitz of Black Sheep Films we watch as tin windup toys overtake the streets of Buenos Aires, living amongst its inhabitants as if it was an everyday occurrence. Livschitz is known for his short films that blend live action footage with aspects of absurdity, most notably his New York and Buenos Aires theme parks. Music by the very fine Canned Heat circa 1972.

A Climbing Plant Peeling off a Building Like a Snake Skin
A climbing plant peels off a brick building, in an effect reminiscent of a snake shedding a layer of skin, in this curious photo posted by redditor this_bores_me.

The Amazing Helmets Worn by Athletes of the Sliding Sport ‘Skeleton’ During the 2014 Winter Olympics
Sarah Reid by Natacha Pisarenko/Associated Press
The winter sliding sport known as skeleton is a fairly recent addition to the modern Winter Olympics, having been added again in 2002, and due to the way athletes lay down on their stomachs to compete the helmet has become something of a statement. The helmets used during the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics range from an illustration of a brain to more traditional country-based patterns.

awkwardsituationist: christopher swann captures the conclusion...
Cooper GriggsI never considered that this was an option. How naive.
christopher swann captures the conclusion of a two hour chase between an eight ton killer whale and a bottlenose dolphin off the coast of mexico. “the terror and fight for life of the dolphin was palpable. one felt one could feel the adrenalin in his veins and his pulsing heart as he raced for his life,” he remarked.
