by Raphael Orlove

Lamborghini Aventador drivers love nothing more than to rev their engines at a standstill, shoot flames, and attempt to get their cars to catch on fire.

Hark, A Vagrant: Cheshire Cat

buy this print!

Alice! That cat is full of it.

Remember that a tour could be coming your way, sooner rather than later!

We have a lot of interviews and things on the go for Step Aside Pops as it gets near the release date, so expect to see a whole lot of activity! If you're listening to the CBC, I'll be on As It Happens in the next while, and on Q later in the month.

Hark, A Vagrant: Bessie and Benkei

buy this print!

OH

Look who made good on a throwaway twitter mashup idea from 2013

It really doesn't make sense but their names sounded good together! I had a little time on this book deadline so I sketched it up quick for you. It was fun anyway!

Bessie

Benkei

I have started selling original art through The Beguiling store. This is new to me!

And as always, The Princess and the Pony is in stores. Here is a link roundup of related articles there! Some cool things in it, like a visit to Time magazine.

I didn't want a pony as a child, but I did want a cat really really bad. Here is a little comic about that cat.

Hark, A Vagrant: Femme Fatale

buy this print!

Watch out! Dames like this are dangerous. But you know, they have other things going on in their lives than walking through a detective's door through a dangerous cloud of fog. Probably.

I've watched some noir films while drawing this comic, and where has that dialogue been all my life? Also, if you read essays on how femme fatales threw out conventions of the day you realize they are all basically the best characters ever. Too bad for any lousy rat they cross paths with though.

The store is going to update as soon as the new merchandise comes in. STAY TUNED

Hark, A Vagrant: Broadside Ballads 1

buy this print!

Broadside Ballads were made for entertainment, and I've had great fun going through the Bodleian library for them.

In order, here is where you can find the originals:

The School of Venus
The Rambling Boy
The Mourning Conquest
The Rambling Boys of Pleasure
Unconstant Phillis
Toby Philpot

Broadside illustrations were often used over again for different songs, so it's not unusual to see them pop up in new places, though perhaps comic riffs is a new one. The drawings are funny to our modern eyes, but give a little browse through the Bodleian, or the University of California's collection, and you're sure to find something funny and smart and very interesting and 200 years old. And clearly, boobs and dicks and things were always a crowd pleaser, happy am I to carry this torch.

We have new things coming in the store very soon, so keep your eyes peeled! Or also, check my tumblr now and then! There are also drawings and other things on there.

I know not everyone is a merchandise sort of person, so I added a donate button below for the people who have told me here and there over the years that they'd like to support Hark A Vagrant in another way. Which is really kind! I thought about Patreon, and maybe that will come about sometime, but with my sporadic update schedule, I am never sure.

Hark, A Vagrant: Spooky Postcards

Jundt

Pretty sure this one is waaaaay old, but whatevs, still funny as hell.

buy this print!

Spooky, right? I wonder where that tradition stopped, where you look in the mirror and see your future husband's face on Halloween. Judging by the card collections, it was pretty popular!

Just a couple of sketches for the season.

I was busy a while back designing shirts! They should be up in the store soon. Keep track of things on my tumblr, where I post sketches and updates and things I find interesting!

The Guild Of Calamitous Intent Has A Warning In New Venture Bros Teaser

by Lauren Davis

There's not much in the way of footage in this teaser for The Venture Bros. Season Six, but this message from the Guild of Calamitous Intent is still great fun. Giggle as two Guild members try to warn us about the fellow who is out killing costumed villains.

Song Of The Sea Trailer Sets The Perfect Tone For Epic Folklore

by Jason Krell on Animation, shared by Robert T. Gonzalez to io9

If you've never seen The Secret Of The Kells, you should go watch it immediately (it's on Netflix). If you have, then you know exactly why this new trailer for Cartoon Saloon's upcoming movie is so exciting. The Irish studio has a style unlike almost any other, and they masterfully translate obscure (to most of society) folklore into gripping stories. Song of the Sea looks to be no less spectacular, as the video and its description clearly show.

The Vampire Mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows Is A Must-Watch

by Rob Bricken

If the words "Flight of the Conchords' Jemaine Clement stars as one of three vampires sharing an apartment" doesn't get you, then just watch this trailer for the hilarious faux documentary, which focuses on the trials and tribulations of the afterlife more than bloodsucking. I think you'll be convinced.
