Randy and the King, the pop-up duo of chef Lindsay McClain and Andrew Stahl of Jamonera will be back in the food cart at the Garage tonight, Thursday, March 12th. They’ve got a new Saint Paddy’s day inspired menu entitled “Hash House.” They’ll be serving up hash browns with twists like The Cheesy Pig, hash browns, pork belly, cheese, jalapeno; and the Mellow Mushroom, hash browns, cheese, onions peppers and mushrooms. Guests will also be able to build their own with cheese, onions, ginger mushrooms and more.

The hash brown fest kicks off at 6 p.m. and will stay open as long as there is hash left to brown.

The British Film Institute is bringing Blade Runner: The Final Cut to theaters around the U.K., and the group has released a brand-new trailer for the film to commemorate the event.

“This new trailer captures the essence of the film and I hope will inspire a new generation to see Blade Runner when it is re-released across the UK on 3 April," Ridley Scott said, according to the marketing materials.

Let's avoid the arguments about authorial intent and the different edits of the film that have been floating around since its release; Blade Runner, as a whole, is one of the most visually stunning science fiction films ever released. Everything works, from the characters to the setting and the music.

Opening on Thursday, March 5, Br Craft & Wurst will debut its new underground bar and restaurant, U-Bahn.

Take it underground (literally) to the city’s latest after-dark hangout.

Make a stop at Center City’s newest bar, U-Bahn, which is named for the metro system in Germany, as the new underground bar and music venue from Teddy Sourias, the owner of Br Craft & Wurst and Finn McCools, will open on Thursday, March 5 at 4 p.m.

After opening day, U-Bahn’s hours will be 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Friday, and noon to 2 a.m. on Saturdays. U-Bahn will celebrate opening weekend with a special event on Saturday, March 7 featuring a variety of brews from Weyerbacher Brewing Company.

The Layout

Drawing on inspiration from the actual U-Bahn, the modern-industrial space srawls with 3,000-square-feet of space filled with tables, a bar, plenty of seating, a stage and open spaces for folks to gather — and dance. Guests can look to metro-inspired signs to help direct them around the bar — and even direct them into the bar as the main entrance displays an oversized “U.” Also drawing from metro inspiration, the walls are lined with railroad tracks.

Two private rooms that seat six to eight people will be available for use of private parties. Guest can either enter the bar at street level on Chestnut Street or from an entrance inside of Br.

The Food And Drink

Sharing a chef with Br, U-Bahn will serve a menu of Philly street food-inspired sandwiches in addition to local cheese boards, house-made pickles, dips, deviled eggs, pastrami popcorn and more. The food menu also includes plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians with plates like a barbecue tempeh sandwich and a black bean-based dip.

Part music venue and part bar/restaurant, U-Bahn will dish out drinks from two bars that are set to serve up a Pennsylvania-made tap list, which will pour 18 rotating draft brews and a number of draft cocktails, too. Pennsylvania-based wines and canned beer will round out the bar’s drink offerings.

For discounted food and drink prices, stop by during happy hour, which runs Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Discounts include $4 drafts, $5 well liquor, $5 house wine and half-priced sandwiches.

Live Music and Games

U-Bahn will not only serve as Center City’s newest hangout, but also as a live music venue with a rotating roster of local, upcoming talent on its 15-foot stage. Guests can look forward to a regular schedule of musicians in addition to one-time-only acts. Performing musicians will cover all genres — DJs, indie rock, jazz, bluegrass and more.

Beyond music, U-Bahn will also to entertain guests with old-school arcade games like Mortal Kombat and Pac Man.
