Yandere Simulator lets you poison Japanese schoolgirls

by Steven Hansen

We should talk more about Yandere Simulator, which we last covered when YouTube had a fit about its upskirt creep shots (an optional mechanic for gaining favors) and pulled development videos for sexual content.

The Hitman-like (yes!) stealth game is, "about stalking a boy and secretly eliminating any girl who seems interested in him, while maintaining the image of an innocent schoolgirl." There's a fuller explanation here as well as a steady flow of development blog posts (with video) that go into various mechanics, like the one above.

It's still in early development -- apparently 5% done -- but you can download it and mess around a bit, too.

Prankster kid tries to be cool, gets shut down by bus driver

by Brian Koerber

You may think you're being original, but when it comes to bus pranks, drivers have seen them all

When this kid tries to pull the old, "not actually boarding the bus, just tying my shoe" prank, the driver doesn't yell — he simply shuts the door.

The prankster was not happy, but at least his friends were amused.

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons looks set to wander to current consoles

by Brett Makedonski

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons was an emotional, memorable journey when it released two years ago. In fact, the twin-stick puzzler took a lot of people by surprise. As it turns out, it looks as if players will get to relive that expedition (or try it for the first time) on current-gen consoles.

On May 20, 505 Games seems to have registered Brothers on PS4 and Xbox One with the USK -- the German video game classification board. Previous filings are also in the system, as it shows the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions registered in March of 2013, along with the PC port in November 2014.

We've reached out to 505 Games for confirmation or denial of Brothers' crossing to new consoles. At time of publication, we have not received a response. We'll update this when/if a representative responds.

Regular Human Basketball is a beautiful monstrosity

by Jordan Devore

The creators of Crawl have come out with a free game for Windows, Mac, and Linux that has friends jumping aboard giant basketball-playing robots and controlling their individual mechanisms to perform different functions. Regular Human Basketball, they call it.

Finally, a sports game for us normal folk!

This is one of those titles where the fun and humor lie in wrestling with unnecessarily obtuse controls and uncooperative physics. To that end, Powerhoof describes it as a fusion between QWOP and Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. Multiplayer is local only, though, so good luck cramming (up to) nine other people around a single computer. Unless you want life to imitate art.

'World's smallest' USB 3.0 flash drive is about the size of a dime

by Timothy J. Seppala
Thanks to Moore's Law we've seen flash drives grow steadily smaller and smaller as storage capacity does exactly the opposite. To wit, the new SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.0 USB 3.0 storage unit is perhaps the tiniest we've witnessed yet. The company clai...

To celebrate the One World Observatory's grand opening, Earth Cam released a timelapse video that spans 11 years, from October 2004 to May 2015

According to the YouTube description, hundreds of thousands of images were captured and edited together to create a video that takes viewers from the basement of the massive One World Trade Center, all the way to the building's spire, which tops out at 1,792 feet

Earth Cam released a similar video in 2013 to commemorate the twelfth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, but this video adds footage of the completed construction on the building's exterior. Read more...

'Quint's Revenge' puts you in the shoes of a Mega Man villain

by Chris Carter

Mega Man fans are no stranger to fan games. I've played a whole lot of them over the years, and even if all of them aren't winners, they all exhume a large amount of passion for the Blue Bomber himself, which I highly respect.

The newest kid on the block is "Quint's Revenge," a romp that involves Mega Man villain Quint, who employs new abilities like ledge-grabbing. It's free to download now by way of Sprites Inc.

Fortunately, a car is a safe place to be during a lightning storm, and Rodriguez's dash cam caught incident on camera.

Denver's first openly weed-friendly hotel opens for business

by Brian Koerber
Hotel
Feed-twFeed-fb

Rest easy, globe-trotting cannabis connoisseurs: Denver now has an openly marijuana-friendly hotel.

Nativ, which opened for business on Thursday in the LoDo District, has no lava lamps or Bob Marley posters, or whatever people generally associate with stoner culture. Colorado has been trying to ditch that image long before Amendment 64 passed, which allowed recreational marijuana to be purchased and consumed in private residences starting Jan. 1, 2014

The hotel features a variety of suites and room packages, each with a distinct style and amenities. Each floor also has its own identity in an attempt to eliminate the mind-numbing monotony typically associated with hotels. Read more...

What it looks like when 300 fireworks go off at the same time

by Chris Perkins
300-rockets-colin-furze
Feed-twFeed-fb

Don't try this at home, kids.

Colin Furze is a guy who think it's a good idea to turn his arms into flamethrowers (a la Pyro from X-Men) and strap a jet engine to a go-kart. To say that Furze is a little crazy would be an understatement.

For his latest stunt, to celebrate his YouTube channel hitting 1 million subscribers, Furze set 300 fireworks simultaneously. He built a wooden stand on the bed of his old pickup truck with slots for each firework and placed a propane tank flame-thrower underneath as the ignition. A remote button lit up the propane tank, setting off the fireworks in quick succession. Read more...

Carbon Nanotubes Were An Ancient Superweapon

by Esther Inglis-Arkell on io9, shared by Kelsey Campbell-Dollaghan to Gizmodo

There’s a reason why we call it the “march of progress” instead of the “moonwalk of progress.” Technology is meant to move steadily forward, but there are still plenty of times when tech has inexplicably reversed course on us. One of the most striking examples are Damascus swords.

We could use more racing games like Power Drive 2000

by Steven Hansen
Fatbob

id check it out

Racing games have flattened. There are still kart racers and there are still realistic racers (with mild middle ground for realistic-looking arcade racers, like Forza Horizon) and that's it. Why? Where are the horse racers and Wipeouts and pod racers?

Even karts might have stalled again like my mom's ex husband's 70's-era Pontiac Firebird dying on the freeway, what with ModNation being bad and Sonic Kart possibly not getting a sequel in accordance with Sega's general apathy towards making games.

Set in the distant year 2000, Power Drive 2000 (on Kickstarter) is all about drifting, boosting, and looking dang cool. It's a nice split between Project CARS and going full Dyad.

Swinney shows you some of those allusions in Tarantino's movies.
