Chasing Money

by snopes@snopes.com
Cooper Griggs

Why does anyone still use a bank? Find a credit union. Any credit union. Take your money there and never go back to a stupid bank.

Does Chase Bank no longer allow cash deposits to be made by non-account holders?

Home Depot reportedly got warnings about its data security in 2008

idiots

Home Depot may have only recently had to cope with a massive data breach, but it reportedly knew that it had to step up its computer security much, much earlier. The New York Times claims that there had been calls for tougher safeguards as far back...

ourpresidents:

On September 25, 1981, Sandra Day O’Connor became the first woman to be sworn in as a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

President Reagan had nominated O’Connor earlier that summer, and he wrote in his White House diary, "Called Judge O’Connor in  Ariz. and told her she was my nominee for Supreme Ct. Already the flack is starting and from my own supporters… I think she’ll make a good Justice.”

i remember when the 1981 film “first monday in october" came out. a walter matthau/jill clayburgh dramedy about the first female supreme court justice.

i still clearly recall asking my mom what the big deal was about the female judge. you see, the entire plot of the film revolved around the fact that clayburgh had lady parts and was a judge. i couldn’t figure out, in my wee young brain, why that was a plot point.

i think my mom might have been a little proud of me for asking.

World Trade Center, New York City, October, 1975 — Jean-Pierre Laffont

Two homeless men squat in the shadow of the recently completed World Trade Center. New York City was on the verge of bankruptcy and the World Trade Center sat largely vacant, unable to find companies to fill its large office spaces.

my therapist taught me to start thinking of my anxiety as my panicky friend

it’s working???

this is so cute omg

Woah this is super useful!!

For all my anxious friends out there.

This totally works! Some of us get stuck in the sense that we *are* our emotions, so they overwhelm us and we can’t do anything about them. When you give your emotion an identity separate from you, it gives you the distance to make better judgments about it, and to comfort yourself better. 10/10 therapy veterans would recommend.

Needed this today.

Which portable speakers are worth buying?

by Kris Naudus
Cooper Griggs

I wish they had actual reviews for all of them. It feels incomplete.

While some people like to listen to their favorite music on a quality sound system with a set of high-end speakers or headphones, most people are just fine listening from a cheap headset or the built-in speakers on their phones. But what if you're...

"The hunting lodge is beautifully situated, alone beside a lake in the untouched mountain areas close to Åkrafjorden in the western part of Norway. It is accessible only by foot or horseback. The integration of the hut into the landscape has been an important part of the concept. The terrain is characteristic with grass, heather and rocks, and the hut’s shape, orientation, and materials are dictated by this. “
