Even if you must play all the Hot New Games, you don't need a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One to do so until 2015. Enough of them are still releasing on PS3 and 360 this fall. The rest, on PC (and, for some of us, handhelds). 

With the recent release of Mario Kart 8 and the upcoming release of Super Smash Bros., you might consider buying a Wii U, though. 

The rest areas were always my favorite parts of road trips. There was room to walk around and, somewhere, a vending area. I always got lost in the weird maps and wondered who used those curious barbecues. And so when I saw Nicolò Sertorios blissfully barren photo series, I wanted to hop in the car.

That vodka Red Bull you’re knocking back might be worse for you than you thought.

A new study published in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research says consuming alcoholic beverages mixed with energy drinks could increase the urge to drink.

In the double-blind study, participants aged 18 to 30 years old were given either 60 ml of vodka and Red Bull or 60 ml of vodka and soda water

Both were then mixed with 200 ml of a fruit drink. Participants responded to an “Alcohol Urge Questionnaire” before, and 20 minutes after, consuming the beverage. Read more...

Tim Sway is an artist in Wallingford, Connecticut who specializes in taking old objects and turning them into useful pieces of furniture. Sway acquired a vintage Charlie's Angels pinball machine and turned it into a desk. He first removed the electrical components and cut a hole in one side. Then he added a drawer, a cabinet, and new sheet metal flashing. It's beautiful and classy!

The seventh of eight daily Weird Al Yankovic videos is here, from his new album Mandatory Fun. “Lame Claim to Fame” examines the everyday person’s brushes with celebrities, however tangental they are, that highlight the way we worship celebrity and the people we call celebrities. Everyone’s got at least one of those stories. But all that aside, the video itself is a work of art. Directed by Tim Thompson, it consists of a dizzying sequence of moving collages.

What's your lame claim to fame? My great-great-grandfather was married to Pocahonta's granddaughter. If that's not lame, I don't know what is. Can you top that story?

Exactly 30 years ago today, the world saw The NeverEnding Story for the first time. It was a time before CGI, when you had to make fantasy movies with puppets. But nothing feels old fashioned about the synth-laden, sunset-colored theme song by Giorgio Moroder. The flying dragon-dog was pretty cool, too.
