How Africa Would Look Like if its Borders Were Defined By Ethnicity and Language. By George Peter Murdock,1959

Misogyny is not human nature.
Damiani.guilhermeNot sure what to think about this (the link). The subject is good and important, but it sounds like clickbait. I never heard anyone serious saying that misogyny is part of human nature - it's documented that hunter-gatherer societies are usually egalitarian. Also, baboons are not so close to homo sapiens as chimpanzees and bonobos, so I'm not sure what they are doing there. Lastly, our fitness as species is just fine (remember that our genes do not necessarily want us to be happy). But misogyny in our original context as a species, yes, that would've caused the end of our species. That's why (coming full circle) hunter-gatherer societies are egalitarian and "civilized" societies don't need to be: as long as we're surviving long enough to reproce, the rest is irrelevant to our genes.
So, yeah, misogyny, is closer to a 'disease' of civilization than to unchangeable human nature.
(Sorry about the long and unsolicited reply, I just love this subject =)
Misogyny is not human nature. That's what evolutionary biology researcher Eric Michael Johnson explains in Slate, where he explores the connections between male baboon behavior and male human behavior during "The Fappening." Turns out that patriarchy actually undermines our fitness as a species.

Be Dazzled By The Galaxy Beard
If you have a long beard, it seems like a moral imperative that you must fancy it up once in a while – with something other than crumbs. Redditor delpaint gets crafty with his beard, but his latest modification is especially wonderful: behold, the galaxy beard! He used large flakes of glitter to create the sparkly effect and noted that, “No amount of hot showers will get rid of the glitter on me now.” He’s probably right.

‘Summertime’ Photo Series Captures the Carefree Joys of Summer in the Countryside

Summertime is quickly turning into Autumn. Before we know it, the sunshine and green tones that surround us will transform into fiery hues, with plenty of rain and wind to follow. But that hasn’t stopped Polish photographer Izabela Urbaniak from attempting to eternalize the carefree nature of summer in a beautiful black-and-white photo series titled Summertime.
Summertime is born out of the joy of motherhood, as Urbaniak captures her children enjoying the idyllic moments of summer in the tiny Polish village of Lugowiska before they’ve gone. Playing with animals, hopping into ponds, enjoying the peaceful back-and-forth of a tree swing… Urbaniak captures the essence of summer in the most natural of ways.

Speaking with Bored Panda about the series, she reveals her inspiration behind the series:
The series is inspired by my own childhood, when I used to visit my grandmother in the summer and spend my school vacations in the countryside. These days, I just love watching kids play in the countryside – my younger son Antek loves to play with his cousins Jas, Maja and Julia. There’s also my lovely Jack Russel terrier Tosia, as well as a cat and some puppies that belong to our neighbors.
The photos, she continues, are the results of “careful observation” and not staged. Captured with a 5D Mark III, 50mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.2, she maintains that these are moments as they happened:

One Chance Might Be the Bleakest Game You Have (Never) Played

Image Via AwkwardSilenceGames
One Chance is a game quite unlike any you have ever played online. It is about a scientist who created a pathogen that is inadvertantly wiping out all mankind on Earth. You then have six in-game days to decided how you will spend the rest of your life. Will you stay at the office and do all you can to find a cure? Will you finally step away from the office and spend some time with the family you have been neglecting? Or will the madness and impending doom jusr cause you to lose your mind?
What really sets One Chance apart is that you really only have One Chance to play it. The game picks up on your I.P and unless you have multiple computers with multiple I.P's, you really only do get one chance in One Chance, which is part of what makes it so spectacular.
Quick warning, though. It is also quite bleak, so make those choices carefully. Games like this prove why you don't need sixty dollar video games and next-gen machines to be blown away by the medium.
How To Make a 1000x Microscope With Your Phone and a Glass Bead

In the aftermath of our annual ritual for receiving the newest and shiniest iPhones, let's not forget that even our slightly outdated phones are pretty nifty devices. With a cheap glass bead, a 3D-printed clip, and the camera of an old phone, scientists have made a powerful microscope with up to 1000x magnification. And better yet, they've shared the instructions—all two steps of it.
