According to a Lee Smolin book there are actual people who've proposed serious theories like this. Minus the one-upping Satan part.

The really gross part is when she puts her lips to the roasted frog to eat it and it turns into Prince Charming.

Microsoft's new Edge logo erases bad memories of Internet Explorer

by Jon Fingas

Now that Microsoft Edge has a new Chromium-powered engine, the company is ready to give the browser a fresh look to match. In the wake of an Easter egg hunt, the software giant has revealed a redesigned, ocean wave-inspired logo for Edge that bears precious little resemblance to the Internet Explorer-inspired icon of old. The "E" is there if you look closely, but it's evident that Microsoft would rather you not associate the new app too closely with the days of IE-only web pages and glaring security holes.

The Chromium-based Edge has been available in beta since August, but it's not certain just when the finished version will arrive. The Verge noted that Microsoft's developer- and IT-focused Ignite conference starts on November 4th, though. That may be an ideal venue to formally launch a browser that represents a sea change in Microsoft's approach to the web.

God Loves Mimes

by Holly

Mime Ministry coverMime Ministry: An illustrated, easy-to-follow guidebook for organizing, programming and training a troupe of Christian mimes
Toomey
1986

Submitter: Weeded for condition from a public library, where it was still circulating. I think I’m finding it funny because of the “Troupe of Christian Mimes” in the title – one trained Christian mime isn’t enough to spread the Word?! My collection has a slightly more recent title on the topic that I’m keeping, which has the hilarious (to me) LCSH of “Clowns — Religious Aspects — Christianity”.

Holly: If Clowning for Christ and Clownseling weren’t enough for you, here’s an addition to the canon. I honestly don’t know how much or even if books like these go out of date, but this one has seen better days. Whatever library this came from has embraced its ministering mimes! It’s good and dog-eared, and the binding is shot.

Collecting Stuff – Teen Edition

by Mary Kelly

collecting practically anything

The Teenager’s Guide To Collecting Practically Anything
Smaridge and Hunter
1972

This book is just a very superficial guide to collecting stuff. The book gives a snippet on stamps, coins, rocks, and a few other traditional hobbies. The illustrations are terrible and it looks dated. However, this book does give you youngsters a glimpse of what was hip for the day.  The first proto-emoticon, smiley face is one of the selected collectibles. I have no idea if any of the trends of pet rocks, Bicentennial stuff, or other crap has any value today. My husband and I still have a good vinyl collection. Although he has been trying to make me dump my overly teen girl album by Bread.  My fourteen year old self thought that was the BEST ALBUM EVER and probably cost me at least 2 weekends of babysitting to buy.

The librarian in me does appreciate the cataloging of one’s collectibles. Weed it, please.
