Netflix on an NES Is the Best Worst Way to Watch Netflix

There's no reason you would ever need to rig up an NES to run Netflix. Which is why it's so great that these two delightfully insane Netflix engineers did it for us. Because at long last, we can finally see the House of Cards intro in all the horrific, 8-bit glory absolutely no one ever intended.

'The Simpsons' co-creator Sam Simon has died

Sam Simon, co-creator of long-running animated program The Simpsons and well-known philanthropist has died. He was 59
Simon, who had been battling colon cancer, has a long history in Hollywood that spans several decades
Though he first got his feet wet writing for series like Barney Miller and others, his first major gig was on the TV series Taxi, for which he served as showrunner. It was there that he met James L. Brooks, with whom he'd go on to create The Simpsons
On that show, which debuted in 1989, Simon had a hand in assembling the team that would get the series up and running and, eventually, establish the voice that made The Simpsons what it is today Read more...

The altercation happened outside a Compton fast food restaurant on Jan. 29. Knight, who is now facing a murder trial, claims that the men he was arguing with were armed with guns and that he drove off to escape any harm, resulting in the two men being struck by his red truck.

Affordable Space Adventures is the Wii U experience I imagined in 2012
When Nintendo first unveiled the Wii U, my mind raced with ideas for games that could be created with the two-screen interface. A lot of the cool stuff that the DS did could be transferred to the big screen. Better yet, titles like those that made use of Game Boy Advance-to-GameCube connectivity could surface in a more accessible format.
In practice, it has taken a while for developers to do really interesting things with the GamePad. A lot of the most lauded titles would work fine without the second screen. Affordable Space Adventures is one of the few Wii U titles that feels like it could not be done on another platform. It plays to the console's strengths, finally producing the type of experience the Wii U was made for.

Report: Samsung Galaxy S6 mobile carrier preorders are breaking records

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were only officially announced last week, but preorders for the new smartphones are reportedly breaking company records already.
While Samsung was recently dethroned as the leader of smartphone sales, preorders from mobile carriers for the latest Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are sky-high.
“Samsung received some 20 million preorders for the S6 and S6 Edge — 15 million of S6 and five million of the S6 Edge from mobile carriers, worldwide. This is the record,” an unidentified "top executive" told The Korea Times.
This refers to preorders from mobile carriers, not consumers, so it's tough to tell how this will stack up against the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models' sales. (The new iPhones sold more than 4 million units in pre-orders in their first 24 hours.) Read more...

The Camera Inside This Satellite May Soon Scan Your Skin for Cancer

The European Space agency has just announced that doctors will be adapting its Proba-V vegetation-scanning satellite camera for a decidedly non-vegetative purpose: Monitoring human skin cells. The hardware within this satellite may, in a few years, form the core of a new medical device that doctors can use to scan human skin for disease.
