Microsoft is bringing the Bash shell to Windows 10
KingofthesofasI can already predict the Dan Jones response, by why run Ubuntu on Windows when you can just run Ubuntu.... That being said for those of us in the windows world this will add some pretty cool functionality.

First 'Ghostbusters' trailer introduces the brand-new Ghostbusting team
Kingofthesofasyes this is a good remake!
The very first trailer for the brand-new "Ghostbuster" movie has dropped. And this team certainly isn't afraid of no ghost, ectoplasm or Internet backlash.
Directed by Paul Feig of "Bridesmaids," the new team of Ghostbusters is made up of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie...
You can’t write code without knowing how to log
Kingofthesofasat ATT WiFi Services they had that exact plan with their mobile WiFi hotspots which seemed like a great idea I am sure at the time when they had only a few hundred locations. When I got there and they had over 50,000 locations it was a little more problematic. I remember one time they did something that made them start spamming 80 errors per minute.... on every node... every error generating an email.... to our exchange servers..... They basically DDoS'd our whole email system and network with it.
Those little phrases that foretell a world of problems…

Amazon Prime Air: Drones to carry 5lb packages over 10 miles in 30 minutes
KingofthesofasThe fact that this is really happening really makes me happy. Also wish me luck in my new business as a sky pirate hijacking amazon drones.
(credit: Amazon)
In an interview with Yahoo News, Amazon has revealed a little more about its forthcoming drone-based delivery system. Paul Misener, Amazon’s vice president for global public policy, said that the company has very specific targets for "Prime Air."
"So Prime Air is a future delivery service that will get packages to customers within 30 minutes of them ordering it online at Amazon.com," he told Yahoo News. "The goals we’ve set for ourselves are: The range has to be over 10 miles. These things will weigh about 55 pounds each, but they’ll be able to deliver parcels that weigh up to five pounds. It turns out that the vast majority of the things we sell at Amazon weigh less than five pounds."
And how will Amazon deal with drone haters with shotguns? Misener isn't worried. "I suppose they could shoot at trucks, too," he said. "We want to make the deliveries. And we believe that these Prime Air drones will be as normal as seeing a delivery truck driving down the street someday. So the novelty will wear off."

Secret Code Found in Juniper’s Firewalls Shows Risk of Government Backdoors
KingofthesofasSee when stuff like this happens my tin foil hat looks pretty good on my head.
Suspicious code found in Juniper's firewall software underscores why governments shouldn't be allowed to install their own backdoors in software.

Why Marty and the Doc might not arrive after all
KingofthesofasI feel like this point is often overlooked. Does moving through a wormhole or teleporting or moving through time somehow get rid of your inertia and if it does how are you not turned into a splat on the wall.
I think about nightcrawler sometimes, what happened if he teleported while flying in an airplane going 400 mph, does he then land on the ground wherever he jumped too going 400 mph... if that was true then just transporting him at greater than ~30 mph would negate his abilities. Also if for some reason it did not result in that then what has happened to the kinetic energy of the 400 mph when he lands in the new spot....
Maybe I just think about these things too much.
Overthinking
Kingofthesofasthis is pretty much my response to most "modern society is screwed up because..." posts. I think people have been messed up since there were people to think about it. I bet there were a bunch of romans sitting around talking about how modern roman life had screwed them up and the greeks really had it figured out.
Keyboard Problems
KingofthesofasI had the weirdest issue of my life a few months ago. At seemingly random times my mouse would stop working and whenever I moved it I would get a strange beeping noise. I tried different mice, different ports, upgrading/downgrading video/mouse/usb drivers I even completely re-imaged the system all with no luck. I thought maybe it had to do with my 4k monitor so I even tried it with various different imports/cables for it still no luck. Finally I tried replacing the HDMI cable on my other monitor just for kicks and BOOM no more problems. I could use that cable on any monitor and get the same issues. I can honestly only guess at why or how an HDMI cable can cause that issue but it stands as one of the weirder issues I have ever seen.
