Mobile Lovers & Spy Booth: New Murals from Banksy street art murals

After a brief hiatus from his whirlwind New York residency last October, Banksy emerged with at least two new pieces over the weekend. The first depicts a trio of shady government officials crowding around a phone booth using analog recording devices to eavesdrop on conversations. That piece popped up in Cheltenham, a borough of Gloucestershire, England which is not coincidentally home of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ). The second piece which depicts two lovers basking in the light of their mobile devices just appeared on Banksy’s website and is also presumably in the UK.

SHUT $15,000 Gold-Plated Skateboard

by Staff

Due to the timing of the announcement, everyone assumed that SHUT's $15,000 gold-plated skateboard was just an April Fools' joke. Turns out it's true, however, and New York skate shop have actually produced the board (we're assuming it's a one off) in collaboration with designer Matthew Willet. Measuring 31 1/2 inches in length, 8 inches wide, the weighing in at around 9 lbs, the skateboard is pretty much exactly the same as any other skateboard and includes fully functioning parts such as Independent trucks. To make sure you don't scratch it up, it even comes with cotton archival gloves. If you're keen to get your hands on this, it looks like you'll have to contact the store directly as it's listed as "Out of Stock" on the online store.

Video: The World's Biggest Game of Tetris Played on Skyscraper

by Staff

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of iconic game Tetris, fans turned the 29-storey Cira Centre into an 100,000 square-foot "screen" which was controllable using a joystick. The feat was possible due to hundreds of LED lights embedded in the building's facade, which normally display colourful geometric patterns at night.

Todd Terje – “Spiral” & “Q”

by Stereogum

Disco and house savant Todd Terje dropped a new single today via his usual stomping ground, Olsen Records. “Spiral” and “Q” are sprawling and dense pieces of dance music that both stretch past the 10-minute mark, though Terje makes it so easy to get lost in them that it always seems shorter. Listen to both below.

Apple Day, a photo from the Boing Boing Flickr Pool

by Xeni Jardin

Boing Boing reader Hubertus shot these lovely shots of very neatly organized and labeled heirloom apple varieties at the Cambridge Botanical Garden in the UK, and shared them in the Boing Boing Flickr Pool. The organization hosts an annual Apple Day, which sounds fun for both foodies and botany fans. Apples are one of the most amazing things about Autumn. What's your favorite variety? I like my apples like I like my people: imperfect, easily bruised, and sweet.

Ecuador-based illustrator and art director Javier Pérez has been posting a fun series of photo illustrations over on his Instagram account. The simple ideas mix everyday objects with line drawings, creating balloons out of grapes, porcupine quills out of nails, or light bulbs out of balloons. These are a few of my favorites but you can see much more here. (via Behance)

Grupo Canavezes faz renascer marca Muzas

by Pedro Durães
