The Craft star, Fairuza Balk, took to Twitter to voice her opinion on the upcoming remake of the 1996 teen witch film. The new film will be directed by up-and-coming director, Leigh Janiak, who directed Honeymoon, which she co-wrote with Phil Graziadei. They will reunite to write the script for The Craft.
Personally I don't care for the idea of remakes. There are great scripts & ideas out there that have yet to be made!
Janiak posted on her Facebook, "i bind myself from doing harm to the brilliant original."
Rachel True, who played Rochelle, also supported Balk's opinion by tweeting, "@fairuza said it best... & thanks so much for all the Craft love! You guys are so passionate, it makes me smile!"
No word on the casting yet.
The original film was planned out to be PG-13, but later changed to an R rating. It touched on many dark topics, including suicide, racism and rape. According to Robin Tunney, during a recent brief panel discussion with director Andrew Fleming, Kate Winslet auditioned for the part of Sarah.
