Tagged: unicorn , windshield , pretty colors , rainbow , g rated , win Share on FacebookDuring my interview last week with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and Iron Man 3 director Shane Black, I brought up Patton Oswalt’s awesome ad-libbed Star Wars: Episode VII pitch (a Parks & Recreation outtake) which involved a cross-over event involving Disney’s Marvel superhero and galactic universe.
While many of my colleagues were asking the softball questions like “will Robert Downey Jr come back for a fourth Iron Man” or “where will Marvel go in Phase 3?” I knuckled down with the much more important hardball question: when is Disney going to take Oswalt’s pitch seriously and give us that Marvel/Disney cross-over film? Find out the answer after the jump.
For those who missed it, here is Oswalt’s Star Wars pitch:
When I brought up Oswalt’s spiel, Iron Man 3 director Shane Black confessed that “it’s a pretty awesome rant”. I turned to Marvel head Kevin Feige with the question he was probably fearing most in his interview rounds: “So when are we going to see that movie? When is that going to happen?” He said:
I don’t know, you figure… It probably took twenty or thirty years of comic book movies before they finally decided that we could combine them into THE AVENGERS, so probably another thirty years of STAR WARS movies before Disney goes “What are we going to do?” “Put them together!”
But I wasn’t about to let him get away with a “probably”, following-up with “So 2048?” Feige assuringly responded “Be there!”
So there you have it Marvel and Star Wars fans — mark your calendar for Summer 2048!
Aw, yeah! The UK Communications Data Bill -- AKA the "Snooper's Charter," a sweeping, totalitarian universal Internet surveillance bill that the Conservative government had sworn to pass -- is dead! Yesterday, Nick Clegg, leader of the Liberal Democrats in Parliament, announced that his party would not support the bill, and effectively killed it. Though I've been bitterly disappointed with some of the terminal compromises the LibDems have made, this makes me grateful to have them in Parliament. The kind of universal surveillance proposed in the Snooper's Charter was broadly supported by the last Labour government, which radically expanded state surveillance powers, and by the Tories -- thank goodness for the LibDems mustering a scrap of backbone at last!
The only downside is that the Open Rights Group had a whole series of great "Professor Elemental" videos that used pointed, excellent humour to mock and undermine the bill and drum up opposition to it, and now that's all going to go to waste (I blogged episode one yesterday).
Aw, who'm I kidding? This kind of thing never stays dead.
The snooper's charter has reminded Nick Clegg, finally, he is a liberal ![]()

Ellen’s creative process is truly her own, she enjoys making and engineering original material combinations to suit her needs.

Christopher LantzYes! Love this. Wish I could have this as a desktop wallpaper.
In the background of flurries of punching, kicking, and special moves, fighting games have a long history of taking players on an exotic tour of the world. Reddit user RudeBootie has put together a collection of 125 retro fighting game backdrops depicting locations everywhere from training gyms, to the Serengeti, to hot springs — all as animated GIFs that recreate their bumpy 16-bit animations. The settings are pulled from nine different games, including three titles from the Street Fighter series. Though many of the locales have mystic or ancient vibes, the more modern-day settings are often filled with wonderful details hidden and animated in the background.

Christopher LantzOooo, might wear this to Goth Prom tomorrow.

This is Omar Borkan Al Gala, an Emirati photographer supposed to be one of the three men who were deported from Saudi Arabia last week for being “too handsome.” Omg, just look at them cheekbones.
Since 2009, South Korean artist Yeonju Sung has been using foods to make elaborate women’s clothing for her series, “Wearable Foods.” Most of the clothing is made out of fresh vegetables and none of the items are actually wearable, or long-lasting—they exist primarily in Sung’s photographs.
This series deals with the concept of creating images that interchange the actual reality and the made-up reality on many levels. This body of work is her version of the made-up reality, which destroys the core meaning of clothing, which is the ability to be worn.
This series of her work forces viewers to defy the actual meaning, the functionalities, and the aspects of what clothing signifies in our lives. The essence of clothing and food has been reinterpreted. Each element does not fulfill its own role and yet, each suggests an unconventional and even contradicting role – un-wearable clothing that is made out of the materials that do not last.

You can also check out what a speed dating session with superheroes would be like thanks to World of Heroes.
