Legendary Atari Video Game Burial in New Mexico Excavated, ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ and More Discovered
Christopher LantzI remember playing this game. It made no sense.
As part of a documentary being made by Microsoft’s Xbox Entertainment Studios, an old landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico was excavated on April 26th in search of the legendary Atari video game burial of 1983. Former Atari manager James Heller says that the video game company tasked him with disposing of 728,000 cartridges they had stored in an El Paso, Texas warehouse after financial troubles crippled them, and the landfill dump was the result.
Part of the legend of the dump is that the majority of those cartridges buried were believed to be several million of the notoriously bad E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial video game made by Atari for their Atari 2600 console. Designer Howard Scott Warshaw was given a timeline of five and a half weeks to produce the game in time for the 1982 Christmas season, and it is often cited as one of the worst video games ever created.

Judgmental Maps
Christopher Lantzlol, want to see Judgemental Seattle.

judgmentalmaps.com. Here's a judgementally annotated map of San Francisco. It must be said, some of these maps, and some of the items on certain maps, reflect attitudes towards other human beings that I do not share. But others, I found funny and true. Hobo blow jobs. I laughed at Los Angeles.

Daughter Posts Video Catching an Incredible Moment Between Non-Verbal Father with Alzheimer’s and Loving Dog
Christopher LantzThis made me tear up a bit.
In this video posted by Lisa Abeyta, an absolutely incredible moment was caught when Lisa’s father, largely non-verbal due to the ravages of Alzheimer’s disease, began speaking clear complete sentences to the family dog, Roscoe.
Yesterday afternoon, I had the privilege of spending a little bit of time with my dad who is in the advanced stages of Alzheimers…My parents have two dogs in their home, one of which, Molly, is my father’s constant companion. More than once, I’ve watched him coo and talk to Molly even as his ability to form sentences and find the words he needs to communicate has deteriorated. When my father and I arrived at my home yesterday to give my mom an hour to run some errands, our own family dog, Roscoe, greeted him at the door. For the next hour, my father petted and talked to Roscoe. Not wanting to lose the memory of the moment, I filmed a few moments of his interaction with our dog, amazed at the clarity of my father’s words.
Simply beautiful.

A Musicless Version of The Prodigy’s ‘Breathe’ Music Video Dubbed Over with Odd Sounds and Sneezes
Christopher LantzI love this videos.
Mario Wienerroither has stripped the music out of the music video for “Breathe” by The Prodigy. He then dubbed over the video with odd sounds and random sneezes from lead singer Keith Flint. We previously wrote about Mario’s musicless version of the song “Firestarter” by The Prodigy.
Here is the original music video for comparison:

Stofle, The Incredibly Clever Honey Badger Who Has Escaped Every Enclosure Made For Him
It’s been reported a number of times that honey badgers are tenacious little animals. Such is the case with Stofle, a honey badger and former domestic pet who could not be released into the wild. Instead, Stofle was brought to a sanctuary in Kruger National Park where his stubborn nature almost got him killed by a den of resident lions. Keeper Brian “knew he had to get his honey badger under control” and despite the many different designs, locks and materials Brian used, it began to appear that no enclosure would be able to cage the incredibly clever honey badger.
In the end, and at great expense, Brian had no choice but to build his own “Badger Alcatraz“. “I said ‘Stofle, the days of your escape of over pal.’ That night they called me and said, ‘Brian, Stofle’s out’ I said, ‘Impossible’ but we had trees in there and he’d climb up the trees and he’d lean over onto the wall and he was out. So we cut all of the branches out of the trees near [the wall] and left the trees in the middle. Then he dug up the rocks and he’d roll them with his back feet to the wall and he pile them high enough and then he’d get out. So we took all the rocks away. This was like a game for Stofle. Every time I’d devise some plan, it was like a game for him to work out how could he get over this.”
After all, honey badger don’t care.

HBO Go Ad Campaign Promises Teens a Way To View Awkward Scenes From HBO Shows ‘Far, Far Away From Your Parents’
In this hilarious HBO Go ad campaign, several different scenarios are presented in which agonized teen siblings are paired with at least one or both of their inquisitive, well-meaning and over-sharing parents while watching awkward scenes from HBO shows such as True Detective, Girls, Game of Thrones, True Blood and Curb Your Enthusiasm. The ad then promises that HBO Go’s availability on many different devices will allow them to watch the shows “far, far away from their parents”.

B-Classic: Dvořák – Symphony No. 9 Allegro con fuoco
Christopher Lantzstrange
Belgium based B-Classic has started The Classical Comeback Video: “a new music video format that gives classical music the same recognition as pop and rock music by combining the timeless emotion of classical music with the visual talent of a contemporary director.” It’s open to submissions. “The Classical Comeback is a creative format open to anyone” and they have just a few rules, such as submission length under five minutes.
Above is the first entry for the project, Dvořák – Symphony No. 9 Allegro con fuoco in E-Minor (From the new world – Smetana The Moldau IV Allegro con fuoco, Herbert Von Karajan & Wiener Philharmoniker, Deutsche Grammophone – Universal Music). It’s directed by Raf Reyntjens with choreography by Ari & Miu (Waveya). And, it has been making the rounds on blogs and linkbait sites without any of its interesting context or explanations. B-Classic tells us,
Raf Reyntjens shot B-classic’s first Classical Comeback video in South Korea. Where the local Wayeva group performed their unique choreography on Dvorak’s New World. Asia today is what America was 100 years ago: the new world. Great composers like Dvorak did write their music for everyone. Their goal was to give people a break, let them escape from reality and to move them.
