I am legitimately crying.
And the 2013 award for Greatest Idea of the Year goes to this. Seriously, I don’t care if its May, close the voting, its all downhill from here.

While Dan is no doubt preoccupied with less important issues, I thought I'd scoop him by posting the latest Garfunkel and Oates video: "The Loophole." And no, the lyrics are not at all safe for work.
When they put money next to something to show it’s actual size, my first thought is always “look at that tiny stripper."
If it wasn’t for the sun, we would simply not be around. It’s responsible for giving energy to practically all living creatures on the planet, as well as helping pasty white boys look a little less sick. If harnessed properly, it can also cook. The SolSun reflector is shaped so that the sun’s rays focus on the cooking area, and can reportedly grill a hamburger in about 6 minutes, or about the same time as a regular BBQ. Except of course this cooker doesn’t require any fuel, and is up to cooking temperature much faster than coal or propane. The thing weighs 40lbs, is 4.3ft. across, is made of a black steel base and plastic reflective panels, and assembles in about 30 minutes with the included tools. It’s able to support up to a 20L stockpot, although the maximum temperatures it reaches will obviously depend on weather factors. Still, at that diameter on a sunny day, you should be good to cook just about anything.
The SolSun is currently on pre-order on Kickstarter for $250, with shipping in October of this year, which is unfortunately a little late for the summer in some parts.

“Dr. Easy” is a science-fiction short by Warp Films, Film4 and Shynola about a medical robot who is dispatched by police to try and negotiate with an armed, dangerous and broken man named Michael. The dark short film is an adaptation of the novel “The Red Men” by author Matthew De Abaitua.
Good news everyone. It looks like we can finally show some result of what we have been doing for the last couple of months, namely our mobile API. We have been running it on our test server for a week, gathered some initial feedback from several awesome mobile developers, and we think it’s now ready to be tested by the general public.
What does it mean to you? It means that there is now technical possibility to use The Old Reader with your favorite RSS app.
You can already try The Old Reader in Feeddler – free version already supports it, and the Pro version should get updated any time soon. Kudos to Che-Bin Liu for being extremely helpful in testing the API and getting Feeddler integrated so fast.
The documentation for the API is available in a separate github repo. It’s not the best piece of docs we’ve ever seen, but it seems to cover the basic use cases. You are welcome to improve it, just send us a pull request with your adjustments. Please note that even though you can use API both via http and https, we highly encourage you to use https for security reasons.
If you find any bugs or feel that something is not working as expected, please feel free to create a github issue or contact us at api@theoldreader.com.
And last, but not least, spread the word. Let the developer of your favorite RSS app know about The Old Reader API, and ask them to get integrated. We would really like to see more and more apps working with the site bringing native mobile experience to the users of all platforms.

We spend countless hours (or months!) of our lives on trains, buses and planes, in terminals and tunnels and uncomfortable seats. Most of this time passes by in a blur — in transit, your main focus is pretending you’re somewhere else. But somehow a well-aimed camera can elevate one early-morning commute to something beautiful and universal.

Rich Lee has freed himself from the frustrations of misplacing or having to untangle his headphones ever again. How? He's what's known as a grinder: someone who experiments with surgical implants or body-enhancements, and he's come up with a doozie. Implanted in his tragus—the stiff protrusion just in front of your ear canal—is a small magnet that works like an earbud built into his head.
