These are a couple videos of people riding the the Sky Tower at Tivoli Friheden in Denmark. You basically just freefall 100-feet into a net below, reaching speeds up to 55MPH in the process. It's like throwing yourself off a building, but without the dying at the end. Would you ride? I would not, but I would get a friend drunk enough to pass out and not wake until he's about to be dropped. Could you imagine the look on his face? Not to mention the spraying feces! It will ruin our friendship, but I will not care.
Keep going for a video of a bunch of people doing it, and another one of the hook-up process and a single drop at the end (skip to 2:20 if you just want to see the action).Shared posts

Father Invents Method To Fill 100 Water Balloons/Minute
daniprettowhat a HORRID video. i can't believe how much money they have raised already. the world is going to do the dogs.
Meet Bunch O Balloons, a system for filling up to 100 water balloons per minute invented by father of eight Josh Malone. Because when it's your job to fill water balloons for eight kids, you're gonna find a way to make that shit easier on yourself. Same goes for putting them all sleep (yell "GOODNIGHT" from the garage and pull the circuit breaker).
After testing many ideas -- including one that involved filling balloons with marshmallows -- Malone, 41, came up with the idea to use a tube to transport the water from the hose into the balloons and using an elastic ring around the necks of the balloons to seal them. Once you tie the Bunch O Balloons attachment to the garden hose, the only other item you need is a small container filled with water below the hose to protect the balloons when they pop off the hose, sealed and filled with water.Bunch O Balloons is currently a Kickstarter project but blew past its $10,000 goal instantly and is already in excess of $300,000. So if you want some you can get a package of 100 starting at $15 (plus an extra $25 shipping outside the US). That's a little expensive for something you're just going to try to pop on a brother or sister's face, but whatever. Did I ever tell you about the time I filled a water balloon with olive oil? My little sister was PISSED. Especially since I popped it on her when she was still asleep in bed. Keep going for a shot of the process and their Kickstarter video in case the concept is BLOWING YOUR MIND.
India Launches Plan to Plant 2 Billion Trees and Boost Youth Employment
daniprettofeel like this is a good plan worldwide... if the gov has enough $$
India’s government is killing two birds with one stone by hiring youth to plant two billion trees along highways throughout the country. The plan to put as many as 300,000 youth to work planting trees will help quell the country’s 10.2 percent unemployment rate amongst youth aged 15-24, while helping to combat climate change and beautify the country’s roadways at the same time.

the fig house is born.
daniprettoso gorgeous!

i’ve been following the opening of the fig house los angeles for a while now. i first heard about it when stylist and interior designer extraordinaire emily henderson announced she would be taking on this massive renovation and design project. and man-oh-man did she get it right! the fig house is a gorgeous bespoke event venue nestled between downtown Los Angeles, and Pasadena in the heart of burgeoning Highland Park. Open to private events, outdoor weddings and receptions, exhibitions, productions, corporate and private parties, the fig house is an indoor/outdoor event venue that transports you to a place where midcentury California meets lush landscaping and modern glamour. emily and her team are responsible for that. it’s stunning, as you will see as you scroll through these photos.

i next heard about the fig house again when bri from designlovefest posted stunning images from the cocktail mixology workshop she held there. bri hosts a range of DLF workshops — from basket making, to calligraphy, to social media and she always does it up right. the ambience she creates seems to be key for a good time while learning, and bri puts on a smashing workshop. this time around her mixology workshop was held at the fig house, which is Steve Fortunato’s (from Room Forty, an L.A. catering company) venture into the restaurant and hospitality world. way to dive in, in smashing style!

as i was saying, emily henderson and her team, Dean Fisher and Ginny Macdonald are responsible for this incredible space, and you can see emily’s detailed before and after photos here, and here to get a sense of her design process and the scope of this really huge undertaking. to say the results are an amazingly stunning transformation is a complete understatement. emily enlisted the help of our own Danielle Krysa (real art for a fictitious world) from The Jealous Curator to curate the art for the space and her selections are simply spot on.

i just want to say a massive kudos to everyone involved. what a dream team! you can visit images from the fig house opening night party and emily’s before and afters to be utterly inspired about what can come from virtually an empty space. i think you’ll be wowed. follow the fig house on facebook to check for upcoming events, or get in touch with them on their website to host your own smashing event there.

The Queen Photobombs Hockey Players At Commonwealth Games
daniprettoamazing!
After Australian field hockey player Jayde Taylor helped her team win a 4-0 victory over Malaysia at the Commonwealth Games, currently being held in Glasgow, she got a one-two punch of awesome — meeting the Queen, and then getting an unexpected picture with the monarch. Smiling like she knew exactly what she was doing, no less.
Ahhh The Queen photo-bombed our selfie!! #royalty #sheevensmiled #amazing #Glasgow2014 @Hockeyroos @AusComGames pic.twitter.com/ZMtHYFUqHk
— Jayde Taylor (@_JaydeTaylor) July 24, 2014
Considering how closely the Queen is watched, it's surprising she can sneak up on people like that, but she's done it before with a BBC broadcast that panned out to find Her Majesty in their shot (she'd been taking a tour of the building).
Whatever the circumstances, it's a pretty great gift for these Commonwealth citizens to receive as they kick off their appearance at the Games, defending their 2010 gold medal.
Colorful Street Art on the Train Tracks of Portugal by Artur Bordalo
daniprettoI WANT TO GO TO PORTUGAL SO BAD

Music Online

Givin a Hand

Heart Attack

Less Dependence

This is how we live: Online/Offline
If the artwork is on train tracks, is it still called street art? Rail art? Either way, we’re loving this series by Portuguese artist Artur Bordalo in which he cleverly converts the horizontal lines of train tracks into a canvas. The series, which have been popping up on railways throughout Portugal since early this year, often use bright, neon colors which create a nice contrast between the dull gray rocks and tracks. Each work is accompanied by subtle titles that can be playful but also harbor critical or cynical undertones.
The artist also goes by the moniker Bordalo II, an apparent ode to his grandfather whom he saw “painting the city of Lisbon.” You can see more of his work over on his website or Facebook page. (via Laughing Squid)
'I Know Where Your Cat Lives' App Aims To Educate Us On Oversharing
daniprettoi've never bothered to turn off all this. should i? this is pretty great. they should show this in school. the next gen is crazy unaware of the dangers of posting.
Mundy, an assistant professor at Florida State University, created 'I Know Where Your Cat Lives', an app that allows anyone to comb through a catalogue of public cat photos shared on the internet.
But there's more. The app also allows anyone to see the cat's general whereabouts based on geographic metadata -- the latitude and longitude -- encoded in some digital photos.
If that sounds a little invasive, you're catching on to the real objective of Mundy's project. For more on the true purpose behind this academic's cat-stalking app, watch the video above.
Iceberg Off Newfoundland Looks Exactly Like Batman
daniprettoawesome. must be a sign. make the call.
Mike Parsons captured this photo of an icebeg off the Little Bay Islands in Newfoundland earlier this month and posted it to Facebook. The iceberg looks exactly like Batman.
Not convinced?
The photo has become an internet sensation and has been shared by news publications around the globe.
But Parsons originally didn't even realize the iceberg looks like the caped crusader.
"I didn’t make the Batman connection when I posted it to Facebook, and then the next day I saw it on Buzzfeed," Parsons told the National Post. "Icebergs always have unusual shapes and sizes; if you go around enough, you can pick out something in pretty much every iceberg."
Stackable B-and-BEE Colonies Provide Sweet Shelter for Festival Goers in Belgium
daniprettovery cool and much better than a tent!
Several companies and designers joined forces to design this fantastic stackable honeycomb shelter in Belgium. Appropriately named B-and-BEE, the shelter was developed specifically to provide accommodation during the country’s many summer festivals. Very easy to setup and stackable to four floors high, it has an incredibly small footprint but still houses over 50 visitors in king-sized beds! The cells can be installed in the middle of the action and the bed doubles as a comfortable lounge seat, giving the program great flexibility.

Back in 1997 Capt. Charles Moore discovered the Great Pacific Garbage Patch during a sailboat race from Los Angeles to Honolulu. Since then, many have tried to reduce the size of the patch, which is said to be the size of Texas. Tour Gracias Madre In West Hollywood, California
daniprettoso gorgeous! must head back to lalaland for a visit! http://graciasmadreweho.com/
Hey guys, its Kelly Brown and Holly asked me to stop in from time to time to post tours of beautiful spaces that I shoot professionally so you get to see them first. This is my debut post on decor8 so I hope that you enjoy it! I am so excited to share with you a shoot I did recently at Gracias Madre, a plant-based (vegetarian & vegan) Mexican-inspired restaurant in sunny West Hollywood, California. In my opinion, the only thing better than eating a really, really great meal, is eating it in a beautiful atmosphere. Wendy Haworth and her design team along with patio designer, Scott Shrader, have created just that at Gracias Madre. By the way, you can click on any image below for super large views to ohhh and ahhh over the details and to pin!
I visited the restaurant during a recent trip to LA and immediately fell in love with the space, not to mention the food! I couldn’t help myself but to walk around the entire restaurant checking out every inch of the space and noting all the amazing design features. Lets just say its on my “must go to” list in LA. The plantain fritters and the sopes, so delicious! Oh, and the drinks! Small batch mescals and tequila with housemade syrups, shrubs, tinctures, and bitters! Yep, I had myself a good time!
With a Mexican flare, the interior is fresh and bright, perfectly utilizing color and pattern to balance out the large space. Cozy corner nooks and an amazing outdoor patio makes you want to stay there eating and drinking all night. Its no surprise that Gracias Madre received the People’s Choice Award from The American Institute of Architect’s 10th Annual Restaurant Design Awards in Los Angeles.
Executive Chef, Chandra Gilbert and Beverage Director, Jason Eisner go above and beyond to create beautifully distinct dishes from local and organic ingredients. Here’s what they say about the restaurant: “We first conceived the idea of Gracias Madre while visiting the families of our employees in Mexico. We wanted to both; offer organic Mexican food to the communities we serve as well as honor the mothers who work tirelessly in the kitchens of Mexico and often live without their husbands and children while they work side by side with us in California. Inspired by some of the recipes of these families and the love of their mothers, Gracias Madre serves organic, farm fresh, locally sourced food, full of flavor and love.” So, what do you think? Wouldn’t you love to eat (and drink!) in this beautiful space?! I know I can’t wait to go back! -Kelly

Japanese Artist Snaps Mind-Bending Photos of Bonsais in Space

Over the past few years, a number of people have sent objects into space via giant helium balloons. Hello Kitty, a LEGO space shuttle, and even Breaking Bad’s Walter White have all ascended to the cosmos – and now a Japanese artist has lifted the first bonsai tree into orbit! Azuma Makoto sent several floral arrangements into space and snapped mind bending images of the result.

The Queen's Royal Guard Plays Game Of Thrones Theme
daniprettoso wish there was more got
So apparently Queen Elizabeth's royal guard took time out of their busy schedule of standing around while people make funny faces at them to perform the Game of Thrones theme in front of Buckingham Palace. This is a video of that performance. You think the Queen is the one masterminding all the complaints to George R.R. for taking to long to finish the series? "I'm already 88-years old -- George needs to hurry the f*** up!" I imagine her yelling to the roomful of royal guard gathered in a secret command center deep beneath Buckingham Palace.

The GOODS from Odd Society Spirits
Vancouver, BC | It’s the quiet ones that often take you by surprise. Shy and demure while awaiting the opportune moment for its official debut, Wallflower Gin by Odd Society Spirits is now the belle of the ball and is available on shelves at many of Vancouver’s finest cocktail bars and private liquor stores.
Almost all of the world’s gin is made with a neutral grain spirit, but distillers Gordon Glanz and Joshua Beach wanted to create a stand-alone gin crafted from the grain up. Wallflower Gin is made from 100% British Columbia grown barley and a distinctive combination of west coast and international botanicals. It is distilled in small batches in a unique copper-pot still that combines two great gin-making traditions: maceration and vapour extraction. The result is a balanced spirit that is luscious and aromatic yet light and refreshing.
“Because we make our gin from scratch, we have a greater understanding of each ingredient,” says distiller Joshua Beach. “Making this gin took a great amount of research, patience and care as we wanted to distinguish the delicate nuances of each floral component.”
With intense notes of rose, elderflower and lavender as well as subtle undertones of cranberry, juniper and orange peel, Wallflower Gin can be sipped straight or enjoyed in an impeccably crafted cocktail. Both gin aficionados and novices alike can start experimenting with their own 750ml bottle of Odd Society Spirits Wallflower Gin available at Odd Society Spirits’ distillery and cocktail lounge, and select Vancouver private liquor stores, restaurants, bars and farmers markets. Recipe for Odd Society Spirits BC Bramble after the jump…
Odd Society Spirits BC Bramble
The Bramble was first created in 1984 by Dick Bradsell at Fred’s Club in London. Odd Society Spirits barman Matt Cooke has replaced the Crème de Mure with Odd Society Spirits Crème de Cassis to give this classic cocktail a local twist.

0.75 oz (22.5 ml) fresh lime juice
Splash (5 ml) simple syrup
0.5 oz (15 ml) Crème de Cassis
Combine gin, lime and simple syrup in a shaker and shake hard with ice. Strain into a rocks glass filled with crushed ice. Top with Crème de Cassis and garnish with fresh raspberries.

About Odd Society Spirits
Odd Society is a small-batch craft distillery in the heart of East Van. Housed in a converted motorcycle garage on Powell Street, Odd Society Spirits is well situated in a happening craft liquor community, with neighbours including Powell Street Brewery, Parallel 49 Brewing Company, Storm Brewing, Coal Harbour Brewing and Bomber Brewing. The area is also quickly becoming a hot dining destination with popular restaurants Bistro Wagon Rouge and Kessel & March popping up just steps away from the distillery. Dedicated to combining old world distilling traditions with new world ingredients and ingenuity, Odd Society Spirits has created a family of spirits that entice and intrigue.
Founder and Distiller Gordon Glanz holds an MSc in brewing and distilling from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland where he experimented with distilling whiskey using raw grains and commercial enzymes before studying under the masters at Springbank distillery in Campbeltown.
Now back in his home town, Gordon is applying his penchant for experimentation and knowledge of tradition within the Odd Society, which he operates alongside his wife and partner, Miriam Karp, and good friend Joshua Beach.
What’s in a Name? The name ‘Odd Society’ reflects an interest to use their spirits and distillery as a way to bring together a diverse collection of creative and unique people. They wanted to make a home where guests could feel comfortable revealing their inner oddness.
The Odd Society is about experimentation, embracing change and celebrating individual and collective oddities.
This philosophy extends to their ideas about distilling. Just as any successful society is made up of a variety of distinct personalities in concert, they want each of their spirits to create a cast of unforgettable characters. From the subtle and discrete Wallflower Gin to the raw and untamed Mongrel, their family of spirits is meant to celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of the Odd Society community.

Maintenance-Free Priority Bicycles Make Cycling Even Easier

It may be difficult to imagine a bicycle that doesn’t need regular adjustments and tune-ups to keep riding smoothly, but the folks who created Priority Bicycles have created just that. Dreams Do Come True: A Giant Boobie Bounce House
daniprettoNWFW but too funny looking!
This is a giant boobie bounce house. It's one of the attractions at the NYC Museum Of Sex's exhibit, 'FUNLAND: Pleasures and Perils of the Erotic Fairground'. I have never been to an erotic fairground before. Most of the fairgrounds I have been to have been lined with funnel cake vomit. Plus no matter how many time I tried I could never win a goldfish. One year I even got kicked out for licking a butter sculpture of a goose. Have I ever told you when I was a kid I could eat a whole stick of butter like a popsicle? *jiggling gut* Because I still can.
Keep going for a video of people slow-motion jumping around in the thing just in case you needed to see that. Sorry, no word if they rent the bounce house out for orgies.what’s for dinner? corn + crab chowder.
daniprettoyes please

i literally just made this yummy soup for dinner tonight, and then instagrammed it and several of you asked for the recipe. so here goes. the secret to making this healthy corn + crab chowder is substituting silken tofu for cream. and it can be made vegetarian as well, without the crab meat.
HEALTHY CORN + CRAB CHOWDER
Quick and easy (about 30 minutes prep, cook for 40 min, use a blender/food processor). crab is optional if you want to make it vegetarian (and it takes much less time when you don’t have to crack the crab legs.
ingridients:
2 med onions, diced
4 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tsp olive oil
½ cup celery diced
4 cups fresh corn kernels (you could use frozen)
¼ cup canned green chilies, small dice (Ortega works well)
6 cups vegetable stock (canned ok)
½ cup white wine (optional)
1-½ tsp kosher salt
½ tsp fresh thyme
½ tsp fresh sage
½ tsp chili powder
Black pepper (to taste)
2 cups silken tofu (this is the thickener instead of cream — tofu is soft, not firm)
¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped and served on top of soup
½ avocado chopped and served on top of soup
½ lime juice squeezed on top of avocado
Shredded cheese on top (optional)
steps:
1. Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until translucent. Add celery and sauté 5 minutes
2. Add green chilies and corn and sauté 5 minutes
3. Add stock, wine, dry herbs and pepper
4. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 30 minutes
5. Crack your crab meat – I used about 2 cups (optional); set aside
6. Puree 3/4 of the soup mixture with the silken tofu in the blender in batches until completely smooth (just a little bit at at a time – given the heat, you don’t want it to explode!)
7. Return puree back to pot, stir really well with remaining 1/4 of soup mixture
8. Add crab meat, stir
9. Serve in bowls and add cilantro, avocado, lime juice and/or cheese to top of soup and adjust seasonings (I added a tad more sea salt).
voilá! i hope you like it!

Lion Cub Gets Head Stuck Up Dead Buffalo's Ass
daniprettoplease watch the video. i lmfao
A lion cub feasting on the carcass of a dead buffalo at the Kruger National Park in South Africa managed to get his head trapped in the animal's butthole, presumably while going after the really good meat. He tries to free himself for almost five minutes before growing too weak and just laying there, possibly unconscious. Apparently there was enough oxygen in the animal's keister for the cub to survive though, because the cameraman said they returned the next day and the rest of the lion pride had eaten around the buffalo's butthole and freed the cub. Hopefully, Simba learned his lesson. "Which is?" Always save the anus for dessert.
