Dazzling Swimming Pool Replica of an 18th Century Stradivarius Violin

design stradivarius violin pool Dazzling Swimming Pool Replica of an 18th Century Stradivarius ViolinCipriano Landscape Design & Custom Swimming Pools completed a violin-shaped swimming pool for a client who wanted an exact replica in scale of a 1700s era Stradivarius violin with all of its detail and intricacies. All of the violin attributes were accounted for including purlflings, f-holes, a bridge, strings, a tailpiece, and a chin rest! Although this project reminded us of the Les Paul Guitar-inspired swimming pool, the level of complexity is higher in this case.
ideas stradivarius violin pool Dazzling Swimming Pool Replica of an 18th Century Stradivarius ViolinSome of the features of the Stradivarius-shaped pool include a 12-person perimeter overflow spa, with independent LED lighting, koi-ponds, built to resemble the “bow” of the violin, outfitted with 250 fiber optic star-lights, nearly half a million translucent glass tiles designed with a unique 4-way gradient pattern, fiber optic rope lighting detail that illuminates the entire periphery of the pool. Moreover, the violin strings represented by 5760 strands of fiber optic lighting, glow at night and can be synchronized with music playing externally. Wireless technology allows the homeowner to adjust any pool settings and landscape utilities directly from an iPhone, while an audio system makes listening to music possible underwater. Amazing Video Clips Visually Isolate the Flight Paths of Birds

Amazing Video Clips Visually Isolate the Flight Paths of Birds nature flight birds

Chances are if you’ve on the internet over the last few years you’ve run into a few amazing bird murmuration videos, like this one from Islands and Rivers or the one we featured on Colossal from Neels Castillion, where countless numbers of starlings flock together and move almost impossibly in concert. Artist Dennis Hlynsky, a professor at the Rhode Island School of Design, wondered what would happen if he could better trace the flight paths of individual birds, what kinds of patterns would emerge from these flying social networks?

Hlynsky first started filming birds in 2005 using a small Flip video recorder, but now uses a Lumix GH2 to record gigabytes of bird footage from locations around Rhode Island. He then edits select clips with After Effects and other tools to create brief visual trails that illustrate the path of each moving bird. Non-moving objects like trees and telephone poles remain stationary, and with the added ambient noise of where he was filming, an amazing balance between abstraction and reality emerges. The birds you see aren’t digitally animated or layered in any way, but are shown just as they’ve flown, creating a sort of temporary time-lapse. Above are three of my favorite videos, but he has many more including the movement of insects, ducks, and other animals.

Yes. Yes we do feel the boobs during hugs. And it is the closest to sex that I will ever get. So thank you, hugs, for getting me close to boobs. Once every 6 months. When I hug someone.

142. TIMOTHY FERRISS: Someday

Timothy Ferriss is an author, entrepreneur, blogger and television host. He’s best known as the 4-Hour guru who helped pioneer the ‘lifestyle design’ movement. This quote is taken from Ferriss’ first book, The 4-Hour Workweek, which I read when I was in the middle of my career change and helped motivate me to eventually start this website. The book teaches people to rethink the outdated idea of working a 9-5 job and to use today’s technology to find the perfect work/life balance.

Ferriss recently debuted his new TV show, The Tim Ferriss Experiment, where he applies his life-hacking rules to a number of different disciplines.

I was fortunate enough to meet Tim and contribute some illustrations to his latest book, The 4-Hour Chef. Here’s a blog post I wrote about it with some behind-the-scenes sketches.

- Zen Pencils was named one of PCMag’s top 100 websites of 2013!
- Yay, it’s finally the first comic of 2014. It’s taken me longer than I had planned to update the site again, but I’m happy to say my holiday really energised me for the year to come and I’ve already got a couple months worth of ideas for comics that I can’t wait to start drawing. Thanks for your patience.

Criatividade na fachada da escola

by Da redação de Casa Vogue
  (Foto: David Schreyer)

Disappearing Bed for Tiny Flat Rolls Under Kitchen Floor

by Steph
[ By Steph in Design & Furniture & Decor. ]

Disappearing Bed Tiny Apartments 1

When you’re trying to pack an entire apartment worth of furniture into just 130 square feet, where do you find the room for a full-sized bed? The answer, in this case, is a place you’d likely never expect: under the kitchen floor. ‘Disappearing Bed’ rolls under a raised platform to go away altogether when floor space is required, or it can be pulled halfway out like a drawer to serve as a couch.

Disappearing Bed Tiny Apartments 2

Architects Julie Nabucet and Marc Baillargeon found every possible inch of space in a tiny micro flat in Paris, hiding storage and extra functions in nearly every corner. Raising the kitchen to accommodate the hidden mattress is not only an incredibly clever solution, but also makes the room feel larger by adding an extra level.

A rectilinear table tucks away under a series of under-table cabinets, or can be swung out in front of the couch to act as a coffee table. Desk-height shelving that runs in an L-shape along the wall provides workspace, and staggered wall cabinets hide away clutter.

The stairs leading up to the kitchen offer hidden storage space for shoes, and the narrow bar overlooking the living space is hollow to hold magazines, books and other small items.
