Today, I realized I'm pregnant by a man who won't even accept my Facebook friend request. FML

Ever heard of the word in this image? Probably not, because, until this month, that word didn’t exist on the Internet.
Destructoid has had Metroid on the brain all week. Believe it or not, we've secretly been holding back from writing more about the series than we already have. We almost put together a feature about some of the awesome looking Metroid-likes that are currently on the horizon (including Ghost Song, Chasm, and Paradise Lost) but we didn't want to burn you out on the topic.
Our current Metroid obsession may be nearly as intense as the love that Axiom Verge developer Tom Happ feels for the series. Probably not though. Few people love Metroid enough to spend five years of their life working on a game that's basically a love letter to Metroid and Super Metroid, but that's exactly what he did. Even fewer people would probably use the Destructoid comments section to tell the world that he "...can't commit to anything, but Axiom Verge will *probably* be available for Wii U in 2016. 3DS is quite a bit more difficult since the hardware is so completely different. Should Nintendo be reading this and decide to lend me a hand, that'd be VERY appreciated!!"
Operation AxiomMergeTroid anyone?

Sometimes the jokes just write themselves
An esports star who goes by the name of Doublelift went outside to play some real-life sports recently ... and promptly hurt his finger in a basketball injury, requiring stitches and casting doubt upon his availability for his team's next gaming tournament

You’ve probably heard a bit about rare Earth elements. They’ve got unpronounceable names like ytterbium and praseodymium, and they’re found in nearly ever piece of tech you own. Despite their value, we’re do a piss poor job recycling them. But chemists are now hoping to change that.

There's so much fail packed into this 15-second video! The comedic moment comes at the end, with the anguished cry of a child, "That was our soccer ball!"
Not shown: a piano falling on the man 5 seconds later, right after he runs off a cliff while chasing the Road Runner.

3D printing might be quicker with less of a mess but for those who like to work with their hands, this is an interesting tool. It’s not solely for gun stocks. With the different attachments you can replicate anything in wood; from guitar bodies to airplane propellers to human skulls. (GRH)

Lead Balloons is a company selling pessimistic balloons. Currently they’ve got four different messages to choose from: “Another year closer to the sweet release of death,” “You are a waste of blood and organs,” “Don’t forget, you are a terrible human being,” and “Bastard.” You can buy them for less than $1 a pop (balloon […]

You heard that we’re shutting down Hackaday on November 11, 2015, right? That’s the release of Fallout 4, and trust me: I’m not getting anything done that day. A new game in the Fallout series means more power armor cosplay builds, and hundreds of different wearable electronics from the friendly folks at Vault-Tec. I speak of the PipBoy, the wrist-mounted computer of the Fallout series, and [THEMCV] built the first one we’ll see this year. It won’t be the last.
The PipBoy [THEMCV] created is the 3000a model, the same one found in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. We’ve seen a few real-live versions of the PipBoy before; this one used the PipBoy prop that came with the Amazon exclusive special edition of Fallout 3. Things have changed in the years since the release of Fallout 3, and to build his PipBoy, [THEMCV] just bought one from Shapeways.
The electronics consist of a Raspberry Pi Model A, 3.5″ LCD, a battery pack, and a great piece of software to emulate the software of the PipBoy 3000. It looks great, but [THEMCV] still needs to find a few retrofuturistic buttons and dials to complete the PipBoy experience.
Video below.

The makers of those spherical Perplexus maze puzzles are masters at driving you to the brink of insanity. And now they’ve gone and created an even faster way to frustrate you with a miniature four-inch version of their original maze sphere requiring an even steadier hand to solve.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke appeared on The Graham Norton Show to discuss how she felt about the show's deaths in Season 5 — particularly that last one
"The latest, the last death, was definitely ... that was a tough one, out of nowhere," she said.
Clarke (who plays Daenerys Targaryen) also taking about shooting a "rape scene" with Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo), and how he managed to bring some levity to the situation
"He decided to, for one of the scenes — which was on his back and my face — he decided to not use a modesty sock, but use a beautiful pink, fluffy sock," she said. "So getting that closeup from me, looking petrified and just like I didn't want it to happen was just lots of laughter." Read more...

It's hard to believe (especially if you grew up in the 80s), but the Goonies is turning 30 this year. In celebration of this monumental occassion, Flavorwire has rounded up a great "where are they now" list featuring the current status of all the main actors in the films.

A fan favorite, Sloth, isn't around any more. In fact, the ex-football player died at only 38 from an accidental overdose. Don't worry though, most of the stories aren't so sad, but actually pretty cool.

You have a ton of great options for RSS feed readers , but if you’re looking for something without a lot of overhead, Litenin is a great place to start.
Ubisoft is once again partnering with South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker for a new role-playing game: South Park: The Fractured But Whole. This time, the boys of South Park will take on the role of superheroes in an all-new adventure.
