Is This the Worst Travel Non-Call in NBA History?

The NBA has a long and famous tradition of being a bit extremely lax about enforcing basketball's traveling rule. But this takes it to unprecedented new heights
Watch the video, above, as Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade takes a full-on stroll between catching a pass and dribbling the basketball. In the immortal words of Ron Burgundy, "I'm not even mad; that's amazing."
The clip comes from a game against Portland last month, but has just now been making the Internet rounds after popping on Reddit Wednesday. NBA fans have even mashed the clip up with other soundtracks and augmentations; here's another version, below: Read more...

Today, a patient at my hospital again offered me raisins, which I accepted. This time, his wife had filled the bowl with chocolate-covered ones, and I asked her why the switch. It turns out there wasn't any change after all; he just sucks the chocolate off and puts them back in the bowl. FML

The first Lego Simpsons set is simply awesome

Behold the very first of Lego Simpsons sets! Uncovered by Eurobricks user Carlos S, there are no details about it except what we can see on the box: 2523 pieces, six minifigs including the full Family plus Flanders. It looks really fantastic and detailed and—apparently—it even opens.

Your Constitutional Rights During a Police Encounter
If you don’t remember any of this just remember these two phrases:
- I don’t consent to any searches.
- Am I being detained or am I free to go?
And the Supreme Court’s iffy ruling in Salinas v. Texas means that if you want to invoke your Fifth Amendment right to remain silent you have to actually say it out loud to an officer.
Stuck in a Washing Machine
Eleven-year-old Trinity Rhoades of South Jordan, Utah, played a game of hide and seek with her sister and cousins Tuesday. Trinity decided to hide in the washing machine, but once in, she couldn't get out.
Her sister and cousins tried remedies they recalled from cartoons. First they used butter to lubricate her legs. Then they tried using peanut butter. Then they resorted to ice, which only left the girl cold, so they then poured warm water over her. The children finally called Trinity's mom, who called emergency services. They found the girl not only stuck in a washing machine, but "wet, cold, and covered with condiments."
They eventually had to cut the dryer from the top of the combo unit, and Trinity was freed. She has some bruising on her legs, but is otherwise uninjured. -via Arbroath

2 New Executive Orders Will Change Who Can Buy Guns
Fatbobdemocraps

The White House issued two executive actions on Friday that aim to beef up background checks for would-be gun buyers and keep the weapons away from those at risk of harming themselves or others.
The first order, proposed by the Department of Justice, more clearly defines who cannot possess a handgun under federal law due to mental health issues. It is designed to clarify the language of the current law by providing better definitions for phrases like what it means to be "committed to a mental institution." This, in turn, will provide a more well-rounded picture of a potential buyer's mental health for the background check to determine whether a purchase should be allowed Read more...

DayZ has sold more than 400,000 Early Access copies
For what seemed like ages, DayZ existed only as a mod for ArmA II. Then, finally last month, DayZ saw a standalone release in alpha form via Early Access. It made more than $5 million in its first day. Clearly, people want massively multiplayer zombie survival games.
DayZ continued its sales dominance, holding the top spot during most of the recent Steam Winter Sale, despite not being discounted throughout the event. In a development blog post, it was revealed that the title has sold more than 400,000 copies to date, and there were more than 40,000 players on servers at one time. That makes for a lot of opportunities to be a dick or just plain creepy to random strangers.

'Bill Nye the Science Guy' to Take On Creationist in Evolution Debate

It'll be "The Science Guy" versus "The Religion Guy" in a debate on the origin of humanity.
Science popularizer and TV personality Bill Nye is headed to Kentucky to advocate for the theory of evolution in a debate against Ken Ham, a Christian proponent of creationism and founder of the Creation Museum. The debate is scheduled for Feb. 4 at the museum in Petersburg, KY., according to an announcement Ham posted on Facebook Thursday and a subsequent press release on the event.
While Ham has declined debate requests from "mocking, strident evolutionists," the statement from Ham's creationism group Answers in Genesis describes Nye as "a serious advocate for his beliefs, [whose] opinions carry weight in society." Read more...

Disney Princess Lingerie

The Japanese retailler Bellemaison is offering Disney Princess lingerie. No, it's not for children, but for grown up Disney Princess fans. So far, only four versions are offered: Bell (sic), Cinderella, Aurora, and Rapunzel. It's not clear whether these are officially-licensed Disney products, but an article at Jezebel casts doubt in its list of 9 Things Wrong with this underwear. My biggest reaction is that they do not look comfortable, but let's be honest, they are not marketing to me. Adult Disney Princess fans in the U.S. would demand more variety in the styles, more accurate Disney colors, and the expanded lineup of Princesses. Each set costs around $38.

Town Councilman Writes Resignation Letter in Klingon

I cannot say qapla' (success), but neither can I say jey (defeat). Sometimes the best victory is to walk away from a bad situation. That may be how David Waddell is looking at it. Until four days ago, he was a town councilman in Indian Trail, North Carolina.
He got fed up with how politics was conducted, so he resigned. His letter was short, to the point and written in Klingon--a language spoken in the Star Trek universe.
General Martok (left), who is currently an elected official in Ulysses, New York, could not be reached for comment.
