Carl's Jr. And Hardee's Hot Dog-Topped Burger Solves A Serious Problem

This is the PC hardware you’ll need to run the Oculus Rift
Through years of dev kits, prototypes, and trade show demos of the Oculus Rift, we've been stuck guessing at just how much hardware power the eventual consumer version of the device would require. Now, with that consumer launch officially slated for early 2016, Oculus has announced what PC hardware it recommends for a quality VR experience.
According to Oculus, those recommended hardware specs are:
- NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
- Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
- 8GB+ RAM
- Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
- 2x USB 3.0 ports
- Windows 7 SP1 or newer
That's a relatively beefy system, all things considered. A quick price check on Newegg suggests that the listed CPU, RAM, and video card would add up to just over $600. Add in a barebones tower, motherboard, and 250GB solid state hard drive, and you're looking at a nearly $900 system to run the Rift, all told. That's before you account for the (still unannounced) price of the headset itself. Upgrading from an existing gaming rig will obviously be cheaper, and component costs will come down by the Rift's early 2016 launch, but a lot of potential VR users are still going to be staring down some significant upgrade costs.

Banned Turkish soccer coach watches his team play from a crane

Left with no other options, Hamit Işık, the manager for the Turkish soccer club Çorum Belediyespor, was forced to watch his team's playoff game from the comfort of a crane after being banned from the stadium.
The Telegraph reports that Işık's 9-month ban was the consequence of a temper tantrum with a referee. Additionally, the entire stadium was shut down for the day due to an unruly crowd at a prior match, forcing the playoff game to go on without spectators. Altogether, the infractions cost the team 33,500 Lira, which converts to about $13,000 USD

The Touchpoint Group in New Zealand is developing artificial intelligence using two years worth of angry customer calls from four Australian banks. The goal is to help companies find the best way to deal with customer complaints by creating a training platform that can simulate responses to customer service techniques. We can only hope that this will result in better customer service and not an angry, profane computer overlord who decides to destroy all the banks in Australia.

Marijuana K-Cups: Convenient coffee that picks you up and chills you out

Few things go together better than marijuana and coffee.
With the recent legalization of recreational marijuana in multiple areas of the United States, as well as the rise of medical marijuana, the "let's put weed in everything trend" has officially reached bacon-level status

Tyler Durden To Appear In Pre-‘Fight Club’ Short Story By Chuck Palahniuk

Later this month, author Chuck Palahniuk will continue the story of his iconic novel turned film Fight Club in comic book form. The series, Fight Club 2, will follow Tyler Durden ten years after the events of the book but it won’t be the character’s only appearance. Palahniuk is bringing back Durden for a short story in his new collection, Make Something Up: Stories You Can’t Unread. Durden appears in a story called Expedition which takes place before the events in Fight Club. Read more about the Fight Club prequel below.
Mashable broke the news of Durden’s return and actually have the entire short story, Expedition, embedded. Durden doesn’t play a large role, but it’s a pivotal one. Click on that link to read the full story or head to Rare Bird Books to find out about an audio version read by Palahniuk himself.
Here’s the full description of Make Something Up: Stories You Can’t Unread, which is out on May 26.
Representing work that spans several years, Make Something Up is a compilation of 21 stories and one novella (some previously published, some not) that will disturb and delight. The absurdity of both life and death are on full display; in “Zombies,” the best and brightest of a high school prep school become tragically addicted to the latest drug craze: electric shocks from cardiac defibrillators. In “Knock, Knock,” a son hopes to tell one last off-color joke to a father in his final moments, while in “Tunnel of Love,” a massage therapist runs the curious practice of providing ‘relief’ to dying clients. And in “Expedition,” fans will be thrilled to find to see a side of Tyler Durden never seen before in a precusor story to Fight Club.
It’s pretty weird that, in the same week, Palahniuk is releasing both a Fight Club prequel and sequel. The sequel is authorized and official and while Expedition isn’t directly related, it is set before the events of Fight Club with Tyler Durden. Who knows where Tyler could pop up next?

Creative Ad Campaign: Don’t Measure Woman’s Worth By Her Clothes
A series of brilliant ad campaign called “Don’t Measure Woman’s Worth By Her Clothes” is created for Terre Des Femmes, a Swiss human rights organization focusing on gender equality and feminism to remind us that the worth of a woman should never be measured by something like the neckline of her blouse or height of her heels.
The idea behind of this ads points the fact that for some people, heels of a certain height or skirts of a certain length denote that the wearer must be promiscuous. These “measuring sticks,” however, show just how absurd these measurements seem when removed from their context – regardless of what you think about someone’s clothes, the person wearing them is still a person and should be treated as such.

Confusion of the Day: Young Boy Has Never See a Pay Phone Before
But how do you Instagram with it?
Pay phones aren’t extinct quite yet, but this boy has apparently never seen one.
His mom recorded his reaction to the strange contraption, which appears to completely baffle him.
He studies it carefully and asks: “Is this an old fashioned phone?”
Meanwhile the mom must be unfamiliar with mobile technology, considering she recorded the whole thing as a vertical video.

Magical man goes fishing using only his hands

Is it possible to hypnotize a fish? Because if so, this man is totally doing it
Using a rod and reel when fishing is all good and well, but this fellow doesn't need either. Using a little bit of bait and his bare hands, this guy manages to lure and catch an impressive-looking fish. Clearly he must speak fish or something

AOL is now a pawn in the growing battle between media and Internet giants

There is a battle brewing between some of the biggest companies in the world as they position themselves to soak up the billions of advertising dollars slated to be spent online in the coming years
On Tuesday, AOL was tossed into the fray.
Verizon announced on Tuesday that it had acquired AOL for $4.4 billion. That might sound like a lot of money, but it's chump change compared to AOL's height in 1999 when the Internet giant was valued at $222 billion and was so core to popular culture that it was the center of a Meg Ryan-Tom Hanks romantic comedy. In 2000, AOL merged with media powerhouse Time Warner for $182 billion. At the time, the combined company dwarfed other media companies and could theoretically touch every single consumer in the U.S. Read more...
