Demoscene production by Hungarian group Conspiracy won first place in the 64K category at the recent Revision Demoparty held at Saarbrücken, Germany. For those that do not know, the demoscene produce audio/visual experiences with code that run on your PC, and in some cases, try to get fantastic results with as little resouces as possible. This demo is 64K in size (to compare, the BOOOOOOOM! header logo above is 22K) and should for best results be seen on your computer, but embedded below is a video to demonstrate what can be possible (and apparently looks fantastic on 4K screens).

Remember that Van Damme movie Kickboxer where the fighters dip their hands in resin and then broken glass before they fight? These kids in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro pretty much do that but with kites! They actually coat their kite strings with wax mixed with ground up glass so they can fly by and cut their opponents string! Watch this fascinating portrait of kite fighting in Brazil below.

Fascinatingly strange portraits from Italian born, Berlin based painter Dario Puggioni that portray, according to Puggioni, subjects that exist in a world of complete silence. The result of this existence is an evolutionary step that is also silent: subjects growing plants from their bodies. See more of Puggioni’s paintings below.

Michigan-based artist Pat Perry (previously) spent most of 2014 living a transient life spread across the U.S. His travels took him backpacking, train hopping, and motorcycling with stops in New England, Arkansas, and Texas, all the while dutifully recording his thoughts and observations in his sketchbook. The presence of rural America is a near constant presence in Perry’s work, as well as the frustrations and occasional warnings of humanity colliding with the natural world.
Perry has a number of prints available in his shop and you can also follow his ongoing adventures on Instagram.

Polish painter Justyna Kopania depicts melancholy seascapes and towering ships obscured by mist with liberal applications of oil paint. Crashing waves are depicted with splashes of paint, and sails are formed with the stroke of a palette knife. You can see more over on Saatchi Art and Facebook. (via MEERESSTILLE)
