I know you don’t want to jump to conclusions historians, but really?

Trump's vile smear campaign against the women who came forward to speak their truth

by rss@dailykos.com (Kerry Eleveld)

Now that it's not just "locker room" talk or the whimsy of sexual assault banter that is apparently forgivable among "men," now that several women have come forward confirming that Donald Trump is exactly as repugnant a human being as he said he was in that Access Hollywood video, we get to see how Trump and his unscrupulous minions respond to the women he has violated against their will.

The Trump campaign's reaction was swift and unequivocal. "This entire article is fiction," read the first line of the campaign's statement. In other words, those women are liars.

And worse yet, Trump has been victimized. "For the New York Times to launch a completely false, coordinated character assassination on a topic like this is dangerous," it continued. "To reach back decades in an attempt to smear Mr. Trump"—just like the Trump camp has been doing with Bill Clinton—"trivializes sexual assault."

Actually, you know what trivializes sexual assault—when you joke about it to impress your buddies and then dismiss it as "locker room" talk. You know what trivializes sexual assault—when women come forward to speak their truth and you suggest that they're either lying or crazy or they’re vindictive.

It's not enough that Trump grabbed and groped and fondled these women against their will, now he's denying their experience, and now he's the victim.

“None of this ever took place,” said Mr. Trump, who began shouting at the Times reporter who was questioning him. He said that The Times was making up the allegations to hurt him and that he would sue the news organization if it reported them.

“You are a disgusting human being,” he told the reporter as she questioned him about the women’s claims.

To be fair, it's probably been pretty rough on Trump—the realization that these women wanted nothing to do with him, that they were disgusted and repelled him and literally fled from him as soon as they had the chance. What an ego blow finding out that, even when you're a "star," women find you repulsive.

What a disgusting human being.

Things that are good about being an adult:
1. I can, for the most part, choose the company I keep. And the opinions of the people I'm around out of necessity rather than choice don't really bother me at all.
2. I have actually managed a certain level of emotional control that I certainly never had when I was younger. I have developed a level of positive detachment that allows me to distance myself from a lot of toxicity.

I don’t get why people like him

he’s a mentally ill 21 year old who jokes about mental health in a lighthearted and non-offensive way, which many comedians twice his age with 20 years more experience are unable to do???? he’s able to connect with young teens, ppl in college + even adults through his vids

This video just gets me

I love this so much. I’ve had a really rough time since becoming fully independent and transitions are extremely hard on my mental health. But this video made it all seem worth it, tbh.

blacklesbianlovelab: While we celebrate National Coming Out Day...

blacklesbianlovelab:

While we celebrate National Coming Out Day today in the United States, I just want to recognize my sistas all across the globe who CAN’T come out. I understand your struggles my sistas and I CELEBRATE you!

I regularly get messages from women who stay closeted to protect their income, children, shelter or bodies. There are some places in this world where the egos of men are so fragile that they think nothing of raping women to “correct” their attraction to other women.

For many years I stayed closeted to protect my income because coming out would mean losing my job. There are many family members who I’ve never come out to, not because I’m ashamed or have anything to hide, but because their opinions on my life is irrelevant. I’m from Jamaica and I would never feel safe going home and holding the hands of my partner in public.

So while we appreciate and celebrate those who have the courage and privilege to come out today and everyday, let’s not forget or bash those who cannot.

Trump Thinks Election Day Is November 28

by Jennifer Velez
ThePrettiestOne

No, no, he's right. That's the day you're supposed to go out and vote. And make sure to check to see if anyone is doing anything shady. If there's no one there but Trump supporters, they're obviously doing it right.

With only 29 days to go until Election Day, the clock is ticking for both presidential candidates to encourage their supporters to register to vote, especially because some registration deadlines are fast approaching in many states. During a rally in Panama City, Florida, on Tuesday, Donald Trump urged people in the state—which just got its registration deadline extended because of Hurricane Matthew—to register and then vote on Election Day.

Unfortunately, he got the date wrong.

"Make sure you get out and vote November 28," he said. "We've gotta win."

In case you missed it, election day is Tuesday, November 8. But for the GOP nominee, November 28 is also notable because it's the scheduled court date for the class-action lawsuit against the now-defunct Trump University.

“money can’t buy happiness” no offense but I’m at least 40% happier when I actually have money to take care of myself and do fun things… just sayin…

FUN FACT: psychologists and sociologists have actually studied this and it turns out money DOES in fact buy happiness but only up to a certain salary (I think its a little under $100,000 a year idk exactly), basically like once you make enough money that you don’t worry about not having enough money to live and also can do nice things occasionally, so “money can’t buy happiness” is a saying invented by rich people for rich people and they just say it to poor people cause they don’t want to give up their money

Yom Kippur False Alarm

queersanddragons:

kuttithevangu:

reformchassid:

So, a few years ago, Yom Kippur was coming up and I really needed to ask forgiveness of a Gentile friend who I had failed a couple times that year, and even though the friend hadn’t mentioned it, it had been eating at me.  This friend didn’t really know anything about Judaism.

So I contacted him, by email, (we were in different countries at this time) and I said “I know that I failed you with [thing], and I just want to say how sorry I am.  I will try to fix it in the future. If I have done anything else that may have harmed you at any time in the past, knowingly or unknowingly, I am truly sorry.  I ask that you will forgive me.  I hope that you will accept my apology. Please let me know before 3 days from now.”

My friend promptly responded with the following: “Are you dying????”

The Moral of the Story: explain what Yom Kippur is to your gentile friends.

Well, Yom Kippur IS “practice for being dead”, according to my machzor, so

#we are both ignorant and easily alarmed thank you for your understanding

Diver Catches Once in a Lifetime Closeup Footage of a Whale Breach

by Andrew Liszewski on Sploid, shared by Adam Clark Estes to io9

The ocean’s already fraught with danger, the last thing you need while swimming is a massive humpback whale deciding it wants to leap out of the water a few feet from where you’re treading water. But that’s exactly what happened to Australian photographer Beau Pilgrim, who fortunately got the whole thing on video.

Massachusetts court: lesbian can seek rights as parent, court rules

Massachusetts court: lesbian can seek rights as parent, court rules:

lgbtlovecomesfirst:

Great news from MA!

“The same Massachusetts court that paved the way more than a decade ago for same-sex marriage nationwide ruled Tuesday that a gay woman whose former girlfriend gave birth to two children can seek the same parental rights as the children’s mother.

The ruling, handed down in Boston, revolves around the biological children of Julie Gallagher and her former partner, Karen Partanen. The children are 4 and 8, but after the couple split in 2013 after 13 years together, Partanen wanted to be declared a full, legal parent. Tuesday’s high court unanimously overturned the lower court ruling, finding that a gay person may establish himself or herself as a child’s presumptive parent even without a biological relationship.”

This is not politics as normal in America. I know some people on this website are aware of the reputation politics have as a circus and the current political landscape exemplifies that image.

If you think that it’s normal to have this sort of ridiculousness in a campaign, please remember or learn about the Icarus of politics, Howard Dean, who was ousted from a shoo-in campaign by his own party because he shouted too exuberantly at a rally.

Conservative woman calls Republican men cowards for sticking by Trump in epic tweetstorm

In a tweetstorm that captured the horror that Americans of all stripes feel at Trump’s vulgar comments, a conservative woman went on a tear Monday night against Republicans standing by the party’s nominee. Marybeth’s anger toward the GOP reflects a massive problem for the party.

Donald Trump Takes to Twitter to Stoke a GOP Civil War

by Pema Levy
ThePrettiestOne

Honestly asking... has there ever been a candidate who demanded so much personal loyalty from "his" party?

You probably couldn't tell from the way Donald Trump bulldozes through political norms like a child stomping on a sand castle, but apparently the Republican nominee has not been free to be himself. Until now.

On Tuesday, Trump proclaimed himself free of "shackles" that had been holding him back and proceeded to lash out at House Speaker Paul Ryan and the Republican establishmentarians who have been distancing themselves from his campaign.

On Monday, Ryan had held a conference call with his caucus and told him he would no longer defend Trump after a 2005 video of the GOP nominee bragging about groping women was released last week. (Ryan, however, has not rescinded his endorsement of Trump.) Meanwhile, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on Monday declared that the party is still wholly behind Trump.

But Trump's tweetstorm Tuesday is throwing cold water on the unity message the RNC is trying to convey by turning on Ryan and stoking intraparty unrest.

Fifteen minutes later, Trump tweeted again, attacking his party.

Thirty minutes later, he still wasn't done.

If Trump loses in November, he seems bent on bringing the Republican Party crashing down with him.
