Read NPR's Fact-Check of Donald Trump's Plan For His First 100 Days

by Eric Ravenscraft

After Donald Trump was elected president, everyone’s obvious next question is what happens when he actually takes office. A plan released in mid-October gives some indication. To get a better sense of what will happen, NPR has fact-checked it.

this is why the electoral college fucking sucks.

Without the electoral college, the determining factor of the elections would be California, Chicago and New York just because they have more people concentrated in one area. Our system is the best of the best and the people spoke. I’m hurt as well as most of America but the best thing we can do is keep an open mind, accept, and move on.

So what? Why does it matter if the majority of votes come from one area? If most of the people in the country want one person to be president, then that person should be president. Why should it matter where they’re from?

And that’s not even the reason the college was made in the first place. It was made for 2 reasons.
1. The founding fathers didn’t trust the citizens. They thought the citizens were too uneducated to make a good choice.
And 2. It’s easier to count the votes of a small group of people all in one place rather than millions across the country when there’s no cars or internet.

In today’s age, neither of those reasons are valid anymore. There is no good reason for the electoral college to exist. If the majority of people want someone as president, that person should be president.

Here is why the electoral college sucks:

Without the electoral college, every single vote would count exactly the same.  No vote anywhere in the country would be worth more than any other vote.  Now you may ask, but Raymond, isn’t it like this already?

NO.  IT FUCKING IS NOT.

Take Wyoming for example.  Wyoming has a population of 584,000 people.  They also have 3 electoral college votes. This means that each 194,667 votes is worth one electoral college vote in Wyoming.  Now let’s look at California.  California has a population of 38.8 million people and 55 electoral college votes.  This means that it takes 705,455 votes for each electoral college vote.

A VOTE IN WYOMING IS WORTH 3.5X MORE THAN A VOTE IN CALIFORNIA.

It literally takes 3.5 times more votes to get 1 electoral vote in California than it does in Wyoming.  How tf is that fair?

Don’t come in here and tell me how it’s the best system and without it the only determining factor would be certain cities.  How does that even make sense?  Without it, a vote in New York City is worth the exact same amount as a vote in any other city, or town, regardless of population.  I personally would like my vote to count for exactly the same as anyone else.  My vote shouldn’t count as less because I live in a more densely populated city.

What a good explanation! ^

Travel in packs.

vaspider:

Tonight I was threatened in the parking lot of a Best Buy. I am a white femme in my late 30s.

I was carrying my purchase and heading to my car. A pair of young white men were following me. I put my things in to the car and as they passed me, one of the men said, “bitches shouldn’t be out alone anymore.”

His friend laughed.

It was dark. I couldn’t see their faces well. One was blond, the other a brunette. They got into their car. I got into mine as fast as I could, drove back to our hotel, and shook a lot until I could go inside.

I have no plans to report it to the police. What would they do? I couldn’t even identify those men.

Please, kids. Travel in packs. Don’t be alone if you can help it. Especially after dark.

I love you all.

Trump’s America.

“The only real effect of the #NeverTrump movement was to reverse the existing pecking order in party leadership: Because committing to Trump looked so risky, his inner circle filled up with the most damaged of the Republican has-beens and extremists—Giuliani, Pence, Newt Gingrich—who had the least to lose, and who have startled themselves by vaulting into relevance. But the respectable party members will line up to support them in ruling the country.”

Second night of protests expands to more cities ... now with bonus Trump tweet

by rss@dailykos.com (Mark Sumner)
ThePrettiestOne

He wants to waterboard people, but people protesting him is unfair.
He wants to take my crap little insurance away from me, but people protesting him is unfair.
He wants to wreck our communities and our economy for the specific purpose of making sure he doesn't have to look at any brown people, but protesting him ISN'T FAIR.
He's emboldened the KKK to the point where they are parading in celebration of his victory, but protesting HIM isn't FAIR.
He's a rapist who regards every woman's body as his to control, critique, and pollute with his touch, but PROTESTING HIM ISN'T FAIR.

Fine. Let the fucker cry.

Donald Trump’s Twitter account now says “President elect” which makes it all seem so horrifyingly real. But now that we’re safely past the election, someone has handed his iPhone back to Trump and the tweets are flowing again.

x

How enterprising of the media. Can anyone tell me the going rate for a professional protester these days? Because, I mean, right now I feel like I could give some first class marching and shouting. And really, Donald Trump is just not going to believe that people are willing to hate him for free.

Trump himself, sadly, can’t be in every city where protests are boiling—people are even protesting his elections in Ireland and Australia—but Trump buildings are easier to find.

Tens of thousands filled the streets in at least 25 US cities overnight -- with demonstrations outside Trump's properties.

Protests have become angry in some places, and several dozen protesters have been arrested in different cities. For those thinking this is an event limited to the coasts, there are protests underway tonight in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as well as Dallas, Texas and Louisville, Kentucky.

Police are calling events in Portland a riot after many incidents of property damage and spread to multiple areas in the city. Protests in most cities seemed peaceful, but …

A third consecutive day of anti-Trump demonstrations turned violent Thursday night, as protesters began with a rush-hour march and chanting but eventually smashed cars at a dealership and rampaged through the Pearl District shattering business windows into Friday morning.

The North Carolina Ku Klux Klan announces they will hold a Trump victory parade in December

by rss@dailykos.com (Jen Hayden)
ThePrettiestOne

But, you know, Trump's not a racist or anything.

The Ku Klux Klan is so thrilled the man they endorsed for president was victorious, they are planning a victory parade in North Carolina! Details are sparse, the location hasn’t been announced, but the date is set—the Klan’s Trump victory parade is December 3, 2016. They are thrilled President Trump is going to help them unite the white race. From their website:

Greetings , I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, and hopefully dispel some of the lies told about us by the liberal news media. Let me start by addressing the repeated falsehood that we are a "HATE GROUP". Let me assure you that nothing could be further from the truth. We do not hate any group of people! However, we do hate some things that certain groups are doing to our race and our nation. We hate drugs, homosexuality, abortion and race-mixing, because these things go against God's law and they are destroying all white nations. But rather than focus on hate, we try to focus on the love of our race. We Love for our Lord and Savior and our Country.

Our goal is to help restore America to a White Christian nation, founded on God's word. This does not mean that we want to see anything bad happen to the darker races ... we simply want to live separate from them ... As GOD intended. (Lev.20:24-25)

Trump needs intelligence—and also security advisors

by rss@dailykos.com (Mark Sumner)
ThePrettiestOne

Maybe bragging about being able to "read the body language" of the folks providing his first security briefing was a bad idea?

Though all that principled Republican conservative opposition to Trump seems to have disappeared somewhere about the time the first returns came in from North Carolina, there is still one part of the transition team having trouble filling chairs.

President-elect Donald Trump is scrambling to line up senior officials to run the government’s sprawling intelligence and homeland security bureaucracy.

Team Trump is struggling to fill numerous key slots or even attract many candidates because hundreds have either sworn they’d never work in a Trump administration or have directly turned down requests to join, multiple current and former U.S. officials with direct knowledge of the transition efforts told The Daily Beast.

Most Republicans had no trouble tearing the “principled” sticker away at election’s end, but knowledgeable intelligence officials are finding it hard to get all that enthusiastic about a guy who isn’t interested in knowledge and who scorns everyone’s intelligence but his own.

One person who met last month with Trump’s national security and homeland security transition team leader said that she confessed that many candidates had flatly rejected attempts to recruit them, believing that Trump was unfit to hold the office of commander in chief.

Some people outside the Trump administration are begging for professionals to get on board, not for Trump, but for the rest of us.

A president as seriously deficient in knowledge, experience and temperament as Trump is going to need a lot of help, and he will need it from the A-Team. Most national political figures have established ideas about policy and also know many individuals who are qualified and prepared to people their administrations. Given his demagoguery, inconsistency and changeability, Trump lacks a fixed agenda. He’s all style, no substance — a tabula rasa.
