Nazi Trump regime defends handcuffing Muslim toddlers, thinks they are 'a threat'

by rss@dailykos.com (kos)
ThePrettiestOne

How many five year-olds do you think can fight Spicer? More than one?

It’s so patently absurd to handcuff ANY of these Muslim travelers entering the country on valid visas, residency documents (green cards), and even U.S. passports. But to do so to children is so grossly beyond the pale that no one could defend it—could they?

x

Like the Nazis they emulate, these assholes in the Trump regime aren’t treating children like this by accident, but by design. They are being cheered on by the Stormfront crowd, loving the idea of cuffed (and even dead!) brown children.

At some point, those carrying out these unconscionable orders are going to have to decide what side of history they want to be part of. They can’t pretend that a 5-year-old presents any kind of threat. Saying “I was just following orders” will never be a valid defense.

Confused Trump Administration Finally Decides Not to Ban Green-Card Holders

by Rachel Vorona Cote
ThePrettiestOne

Oh, god, why is he doing that thing with his face?

The xenophobic, Islamophobic travel ban introduced this weekend was implemented hastily, with seemingly little forethought. And in the midst of the fear and chaos, it became clear that no provision had been made for U.S. permanent residents, aka green-card holders. After much bumbling, Department of Homeland Security…

karenhallion:

Yesterday, Hank Green offered to donate 5$ to the ACLU for each person who replied to him on Twitter with a hand-drawn message of support for immigrants, Muslims and/or refugees. I did a quick sketch, then finished it today. I offered it to him to sell as a print and donate any profit to the ACLU Nationwide, I will let you know if/when that happens.
I stand with everyone protesting today, and I stand with the ACLU.

“The New Colossus” :
“Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
‘Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!’ cries she
With silent lips. ‘Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!’

The author of that poem is Emma Lazarus.
“Emma Lazarus was the first American to make any sense of this statue,” Esther Schor, who wrote a biography on Lazarus, told the Times in 2011.
Lazarus, who was born in New York City in 1849 to a wealthy Jewish family, composed “The New Colossus” for a fundraiser benefiting the Statue of Liberty in 1883. (While the statue was a gift from France, the United States was responsible for covering the cost of its base and pedestal.)
Lazarus drew inspiration from her Sephardic Jewish heritage and from her work on Ward’s Island, where she helped Jewish refugees who had been detained by immigration authorities, according to the National Park Service.
“Wherever there is humanity, there is the theme for a great poem,” she once said, according to the Jewish Women’s Archives.

This meme really struck me. This is a truth I didn’t even realize was in front of me.

How we view affluent women vs. the working poor. White women vs. women of color.

Same job with different circumstances results in a different outcome in society.

Because abortions aren't the only way the patriarchy wants to control your junk

krismichelle429:

traveldustedshoes:

OBGYN: Yeah, you are exhibiting all the signs of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I’m so sorry.

Me: Huh? Oh, yeah. Insulin resistance, impossible weight loss, pre-disposition to type II diabetes, painful AF periods. Likelihood of bleed outs. Crap. That blows.

OBGYN: Yeah, well that too.

Me: *blinks* What?

OBGYN: Well, PCOS makes it very difficult for a woman to conceive and carry.

Me: BWHAHAHAHA. Yeah. No. No babies. Ever. Never wanted them. At all. Maternal instinct is not strong with this one. Only upside today.

OBGYN: Well then. Not exactly problem solved, but we’ll run with it.

Me: So about the MIND-SEARING PAIN and occasional HEAVY AF BLEEDING. When can we deal with that.

OBGYN: Not until you are 35.

Me: Dah fuq?

OBGYN: Not my rules. Hospitalization won’t even consider any treatment unless it’s life or death until you’re 35.

Me: Why?

OBGYN: Because you might want to have a baby.

Me: I’m 31. I didn’t want kids when I was 11, I didn’t want them at 21, and I sure as shit don’t want them now. Can’t I just sign a form that says “I don’t ever want a baby take it out, take it out now”?

OBGYN: Nope.

Me: Why?

OBGYN: Government rules. No removal of baby making parts before 35 unless your life is in immediate jeopardy.

TL;DR: The government knows better about your baby making parts than you do.

This is just evil. They are literally refusing to treat a potentially life-threatening condition, not just without the patient’s consent but despite the patient’s protest. Evil.

Not that the pro-life movement has ever given a shit about babies that have left the womb.

copperbadge:

I want to be really clear about something: Planned Parenthood has done more to prevent abortion than the pro-life movement ever has.

I would also observe that Planned Parenthood has done more to prevent infant mortality than the pro-life movement could dream of.

I will point out though that you are not a bad anti-nazi if you’re not able to physically punch nazis. That carries a ton of risks, not only physical but legal/financial, and is best left to, uh, trained experts. You’ll find your own way to bash the fash, and comrade Jeb! will be proud of you the whole way

Bingo

When I went to synagogue, whenever I saw a neo-Nazi sticker on any of the lamp posts nearby, I enjoyed keying the shit out of it.

this is so well said and written i had to repeat it and bold it.

As much as we’d all like to punch a nazi, please do use caution, remember that they WILL take the law into their own hands.  Use caution in destroying propaganda as well–use the buddy system, or hell, make a party out of it, just don’t go alone to areas marked by nazis if you can at all help it.  Keep strong, but keep safe, too.
