South Park Craps All Over Free-To-Play Games

Last night's episode of South Park was an ode to all things freemium, and as you might expect from the longrunning comedy show, they went in hard on the unethical free-to-play menace that has been plaguing video games for the past few years.

I won't spoil much about the episode—which you can watch here starting Thursday if you're in a supported region—other than to say that they nailed it. Anyone who has fallen thrall to the likes of Farmville or EA's Dungeon Keeper will feel their thumbs twitching. Also, there are demons.

We've got clips, of course. Here's South Park's explanation of what "freemium"—the "mium" is Latin for "not really"—actually means:

And here, from later in the episode, is South Park's explanation of what freemium ACTUALLY means:

"Don't think about that! Think about all the money!" Sound familiar?

Giant Birdsnest For Humans Breeds New Ideas, Not Chicks

Giant Birdsnest For Humans Breeds New Ideas, Not Chicks nests home eggs

The Giant Birdsnest is exactly that. Except it’s not made from twigs and it’s definitely not for the birds. The gigantic, cozy nest is made from a foam-padded wooden backwall that’s covered with wooden panels and filled with egg-shaped cushions that allow for ergonomic sitting positions. Designed by the Israel-based design firm OGE Creative Group, the Birdsnest is a “new and inspiring socializing space: a fusion of furniture and playground” where ideas come to get incubated.

It’s a multifunctional piece of furniture that can be used for resting, browsing the web, reading, talking and doing almost anything. It comes in 4 different sizes (ranging from 2,700 – 7,900 Euros) and, at its largest, can accommodate up to 16 people at a time. We want all our future meetings to be held in the Birdsnest!
