How To Get Free, Unlimited Online Storage For Your iPhone's Photos (AAPL, YHOO)

by Jay Yarow

Thanks to Yahoo and Google, iPhone users can get unlimited photo storage for free.

Yahoo's Flickr gives users 1 terabyte of storage at no cost. Google's Google+ gives users unlimited storage at no cost.

This is super handy because iPhone photos take up more space than anything else on the phone (aside from maybe music).

Photos also happen to be irreplaceable. You should be backing up photos, just in case something happens to your phone. But, doing a backup is a pain.

Well, not anymore! We've got this handy guide for iPhone users to back up every photo they take without ever having to think about it.

And, unlike Dropbox or Apple's iCloud, this won't cost you a thing.

For Flickr, just download the "If This Then That" application, then find the "recipe" that will automatically send iPhone photos to Flickr. For Google+, just download the Google+ which has the auto backup option baked in.

Here's a visual step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Download "If This Then That" from the App Store. (Link here.)

IFTTT

Step 2: Sign up for an account.

ifttt

Step 3: In the IFTTT app search for "iPhone photos flickr". To search, click on the mixer, then the eyeglasses, then search.

iphone ifttt

You should see the following result:

ifttt

(Step 3a: If you don't see it in search, on a desktop computer, click on this link: https://ifttt.com/recipes/118790.)

Step 4 : Click "Use this recipe".

ifttt

Step 5: Give IFTTT approval for Flickr and Photos.

IFTTT

Step 6: You're all done! Photos taken on your iPhone will automatically upload to Flickr. Adjust your privacy settings so random people can't see your photos.

IFTTT

BONUS: Want a second back up option? Use Google+. Here's how.

Step 1: Download the Google+ app, sign in.

Google+ app

Step 2: Allow it to back up all your phone's photos.

10 DIY Farm Tables

by Ana White
Christopher.wetzel

Number 1 and 4 are essentially our table, but just adding in that extra support around the outside. How do you think they look?

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it's time now to build that Farmhouse Table! Here's 10 of my favorite DIY farm tables that you can build!

Awesome Idea #1

The simplest farm table you can build - just a frame with boards on top and 2x4 legs - is made exceptional with a wood on white weathered finish by From Our Hiding Place. Check out the full plans here.

Awesome Idea #2

For a space that is less decorated, try upping your fancy factor with a statement making farm table with massive turned legs. I built this table for my sister's family - with off the shelf turned legs and a wood top made out of 2x6s. Check out the plans here.

Awesome Idea #3

For $65, I teamed up with my friend Whitney from Shanty2Chic for these plans. I love the added detail in the center, perfect to add architectural interests to a room - or outdoors! Check out the full plans here.

Awesome Idea #4

This is the original plans for the Farmhouse Table I still use today! Featured in Country Living magazine, made with reclaimed lumber, I love how the weathered wood in the table adds texture and a natural element to this room.

The original farmhouse table was modified to fit the space of Deckroid, with wider width boards used for the tabletop.  To hide all screw holes, pocket hole joinery was used -  Plans for the pocket hole version of the original farmhouse table can be found here.

Awesome Idea #5

Yes, those are just 2x4 boards!!!

This amazing triple pedestal table was built by The David and Heidi Family - isn't it beautiful?

From this dining table I teamed up with Shanty2Chic to get you plans here.

Awesome Idea #6

I love how Hillary from The Friendly Home modified these plans to make this beautiful table.

And isn't this table just beautiful, how the legs are notched together?  Check out more photos and details here, and the original plans here.

Awesome Idea #7

My friends Matt and Shaunna from Perfectly Imperfect handmade this amazing table, using reclaimed wood and rustic hardware.  Isn't it beautiful?  They modified these plans.  Check out more photos and finishing details here.

Awesome Idea #8

For just $2, Handy Andy built this table out of reclaimed wood from pallets.  It is absolutely beautiful, and I love the added storage shelf, modified from these plans.

Awesome Idea #9

If your home or backyard needs a more contemporary flair, this beautiful modern table, designed and built by Decor and the Dog, might just be the one for you!  Check out the full plans here.

Awesome Idea #10

I love the simple clean lines of this modern farm table, built by Organizational Hysteria, from these plans.  Bonus - bench plans too!

These Star Wars Parkour Guys Are Probably Real Life Jedis

by Casey Chan

Yup, this was pretty awesome. Luckily I didn't see this when I was younger. I may have tried to be a Jedi.

If you dress up like a Jedi on a day that's not October 31st (even if it is October 31st, actually), you're probably going to be branded a geek. Wear that proudly! But if you dress up like a Jedi and do parkour tricks in the freaking desert like bouncing off rocks and double backflips and triple spins all while looking like you're in a chase sequence for the next Star Wars movie, well, you're an AWESOME geek that everyone is proud of.

You know if this was connected to the desk below it would be a good hallway hutch...

Build this wall hutch with free plans from Ana-White.com

About Project

Author Notes:

Happy Monday everyone!!!

I know none of us want to think about summer winding down to fall, and the kids going back to school ... but it's happening .... sigh ...

My friend Jaime from That's My Letter has been busy converting this space:

Into a study area for her three kiddos ...

What an amazing transformation!

And yes, of course, all those desks and hutches are DIY!

I'm so thankful that she reached out to me for the furniture plans, so we could share them with you!!!  So you can build the same system for your kids at home too!

Last week, we shared the desk plans with you here

And today is Wall Hutch Day!

Of course, free plans follow for this wall hutch, but if you want to check out lots more photos of Jaime's amazing space and all the details on how she transformed it, plus building tips and more photos, please take a second to read Jaime's post here.

Thank you Jaime!

XO Ana

Materials and Tools

Shopping List:

4 - 1x12 @ 6 feet long
1 - 1x2 @ 8 feet long
1/4” plywood 36” x 34” (try beadboard wainscoting panel or 1/2 sheet of beadboard)
1 - 1/2 sheet of 1/2” thick plywood for boxes
3 handles/knobs

Optional: Approximately 6 feet of small crown moulding

1 1/4 inch finish nails
1 1/4 inch pocket hole screws
wood glue
wood filler
Tools:
measuring tape
square
pencil
hammer
safety glasses
hearing protection
drill
circular saw
compound miter saw
nailer
sander
level

Cut List

Cut List:

5 - 1x12 @ 34 1/2”
2 - 1x12 @ 7”
2 - 1x12 @ 34”
2 - 1x2 @ 34 1/2”
2 - 1/4” plywood @36” x 34”

BOXES
6 - 1/2” plywood @ 6 3/4” x 10 3/4”
6 - 1/2” plywood @ 6 3/4” x 10 1/4”
3 - 1/2” plywood @ 9 3/4” x 10 1/4”

Step 1

Let's start by building the cubby portion. Alternatively, you could add the cubby dividers at the end too.

I'd just use nails and glue here. Make sure you draw lines to line the dividers up all the way down or your cubbies won't be square and then your drawers will be cockeyed and won't work.

TIP: If you are using a Kreg Jig, make sure you drill 3/4" pocket holes on each end of the two shelves for attaching the sides in the next step.

Step 2

Then attach sides to the cubby shelf part.

Step 3

And then finally attach the top shelf.

Step 4

Attach 1x2s to the tops of both back and front.

Step 5

Add remaining shelves as desired. You can also attach with shelf pins for adjustable shelves.

Step 6

Attach back to sides, top and bottom, dividers, and any other fixed shelves.

Step 7

Add crown moulding if desired to top to finish it out. Attach crown moulding with finish nails and glue

Step 8

Drawers should be built to fit the exact measurements of your dividers, leaving 1/8" gap on all sides. I opted for the drawers to be made of plywood just so they are lighter and easier to remove.

Step 9

Hang the wall hutch securely to a stud in the wall behind through the 1x2 top cleat.

Finishing Instructions

Preparation Instructions:
Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe project clean with damp cloth. It is always recommended to apply a test coat on a hidden area or scrap piece to ensure color evenness and adhesion. Use primer or wood conditioner as needed.
