‘Inside Out’ Honest Trailer: If This Were About a Guy, It Would Be a Porno

by Ethan Anderton

Inside Out Honest Trailer

Pixar Animation came back with sweet, emotional vengeance this year, after not releasing a film in 2014, with the touching and heartfelt Inside Out. The film has given feelings to feelings, but just because it’s a beautiful story that audiences and critics alike have fallen in love with, that doesn’t mean it’s safe from becoming the target of Honest Trailers.

In the Inside Out Honest Trailer, there’s actually not a whole lot to mock when it comes to breaking down the movie itself. In fact, some of the jokes in the trailer are more about mocking how audiences feel about Pixar movies, because they’re so great. Watch!

Here’s the Inside Out Honest Trailer from Screen Junkies:

Even the voiceover guy can’t keep it together when Bing Bong comes on screen. Who would have ever though that a half-elephant, half-cat made partially of cotton candy, who cries candy would actually make us cry real tears out of our face? Those emotional heart-string pullers at Pixar, that’s who.

As I said, Honest Trailers doesn’t really have much to mock when it comes to the quality of Inside Out, though they do make some fair points about the emotional range of Riley, especially when they point out all the emotions that don’t star in the movie. One could argue that emotions get more complicated as you get older, but we still won’t see any new emotion characters in a potential sequel, because as we’ve seen in the mind of adults, there are still only five emotions in control.

If you missed Inside Out in theaters this past summer, or you just can’t wait to watch it again, the Pixar film hits Blu-Ray and DVD on November 3rd. And don’t forget, Pixar has one more film to play with your emotions this fall with The Good Dinosaur arriving just before Thanksgiving.

Here Are All Of This Sunday's NYC Marathon Street Closures

by Miranda Katz
Here Are All Of This Sunday's NYC Marathon Street Closures The NYC Marathon is racing back into town this Sunday, November 1st, just in time to make your journey to post-Halloween hangover brunch a living nightmare. The course starts in Staten Island at 8:30 a.m. and moves up through Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan, making a quick visit to the Bronx before terminating at the south end of Central Park. To avoid becoming an inadvertent hurdle to some 50,000 runners, here's what streets to avoid for the day—be aware that at certain times, when the number of runners peaks, you will be unable to cross these streets, even on foot: [ more › ]

Map of Middle-earth, Annotated by Tolkien Himself, Discovered

by Jonathan Crowe

@nerds

Detail of map of Middle-earth annotated by J. R. R. Tolkien

A map of Middle-earth annotated by J. R. R. Tolkien has been found. The map, found among the papers of illustrator Pauline Baynes, who died in 2008, was used by Baynes while she worked on a full-colour map of Middle-earth published in 1970. Tolkien's annotations appear on the map in green ink and pencil; they not only correct some of the errors of the original map (executed by his son, Christopher); they also offer some geographical parallels to our own world (Hobbiton is at the same latitude as Oxford, Minas Tirith at Ravenna's). Blackwell's Rare Books is selling the map for £60,000; it's the centrepiece of a forthcoming catalogue on the work of Pauline Baynes. Via Tor.com.

What A Mets: Game 1 Of World Series Was One Of The Weirdest Baseball Games Ever

by Ben Yakas
Kevin White

Lets Go Mets!

What A Mets: Game 1 Of World Series Was One Of The Weirdest Baseball Games Ever The Mets lost Game 1 of the World Series against the Royals in Kansas City last night 5-4, in an alternately thrilling and agonizing 14-inning, five hour game. The game was riddled with unlikely fielding mistakes by Gold Glovers, inside-the-park home runs, broadcasting malfunctions, family death, and about 100 pitchers. Despite the Mets losing in heartbreaking fashion, it was one of the most entertaining World Series games I've ever seen, and it was weird as hell. It was the kind of baseball game that could make true believers out of fairweather fans. [ more › ]

Dogs Are Officially Allowed In New York's Outdoor Bars & Restaurants

by Nell Casey
Dogs Are Officially Allowed In New York's Outdoor Bars & Restaurants Today is OFFICIALLY the greatest day that ever was because now adorable puppies and poochies of all persuasions will be able to join their human companions in outdoor restaurants and bars. This morning, Governor Cuomo signed into law the "Dining with Dogs" bill, sponsored by assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal this spring. The new law ditches the archaic and species-biased ordinance that previously excluded dogs from sharing outdoor space with dining humans. Effective today, any restaurant that wishes may permit pups in their patio, sidewalk or backyard spaces. [ more › ]

WHO'S IN???

New Yorkers looking for a novel way to break a sweat this weekend can sign up for a game of "Bubble Soccer," a full-contact sport growing in popularity with adults. The rules are effectively the same as standard soccer, but with the addition of giant plastic bubbles encasing each player, to protect everyone from all the aggressive body-slams that make the game fun. What better way to fend off seasonal affective disorder than dishing out wanton violence on your friends (or coworkers)? [ more › ]

Join 18 Other Roommates In This Crown Heights Share For Just $1,950 A Month A 19-bedroom luxury commune for budding trust fund artists (BTFA) has already been roundly skewered by the internet, with good reason. Because really, what's not to hate? A bedroom in this shared Crate & Barrel-appointed Crown Heights brownstone—roughly five people per floor—costs between $1,800 and $1,950, and the emetic buzzwords of startup culture are all snugly packaged into the pitch text: Community driven. Working space. Vibrant neighborhood. Customer experience. Wireless access points. Puddles of vomit. Whoops, that last one wasn't in there. [ more › ]

Hot-air balloon festivals

Hot-air balloon festivals are a visual treat for many. Not only do they provide a stunning perspective for their passengers, but their playful shapes, colors, and themes make these floating vessels excellent subject matter for photographers, both on the ground and in the sky. Here is a look at some of the 2015 balloonist gatherings around the globe. -- By Leanne Burden Seidel

Since opening this past July at 130 St. Mark's Place, we've heard good things about Via Della Pace Pizza. (Eater gave them positive notices here.)

But is it the best restaurant in NYC? Heh. Well, according to reviewers on travel website TripAdvisor, it is... somehow, the 23, 5-star reviews catapults the pizzeria near Avenue A to the top of the list... No. 1 out of 11,525 ...

... and ahead of such wannabes as Daniel (with 1,711 reviews) ... and Faicco's Pork Store ...

Taking a Peak

Kevin White

thats a rainy trail any time of the year

As beams of light from the setting sun burst through clouds, a triumphant hiker basks in their glow on a summit in Hawaii’s Ko’olau Range. The achievement, according to Liz Barney, who submitted this photo, was the culmination of rigorous preparation and effort. “It’s not a well-known trek … but for two women, it was their dream,” she says. “[The women] spent an entire year planning and training to cross the Ko’olau summit ridgeline in one self-sufficient thru-hike ... They failed multiple times before they finally succeeded.”

NYC May Soon Be Liberated From The Tyranny Of Taxi TVs

by Lauren Evans

fingers crossed

NYC May Soon Be Liberated From The Tyranny Of Taxi TVs When the time finally arrives for the mouth of Hell to open and swallow you whole, it will not be the fiery winds or the vast, endless darkness that will herald regret of your misspent life. It will be the sound—the unceasing, electronic chime, one you heard over and over and over again every time you entered a cab for nine years. Your fingers will grasp the turgid air in search of the "mute" button, but in Hell, just as on Earth, the mute button is broken. You begin to scream, but your screams are swallowed by the vast maw of eternal blackness. "Bloop bleep," sings the chime, drowning your shrieks. [ more › ]

Beauty Competition of the 1930s Were All About Hot and Sexy Ankles

by Mark Shrayber on Pictorial, shared by Kate Dries to Jezebel

judge is a lucky man

Decades before the world decided that beauty pageants were “scholarship competitions” that also feature a swimsuit portion (for scholarship reasons), there was a glorious time in American culture when humans felt absolutely no need to pretend that contests of beauty were anything more than putting women on display like cuts of meat. Case in point? The “best ankles” competitions of the 1930s-1950s.

The taco enthusiasts at Tacombi are opening their fifth Mexican eatery in New York tomorrow, this time with an airy offering on Bleecker Street in the West Village. In style, it is most similar to their Flatiron outpost, boasting loads of white tile, whitewashed brick, and a boat load of pineapples. If it's anything like the scene at their Nolita restaurant, it's going to be quite lively on Friday and Saturday nights. [ more › ]
