Cosplayer Jessica--the internet's Maid of Might--has made a niche by altering Princess Leia's iconic slave outfit from Return of the Jedi with Disney characters. In the past, she's done Rapunzel, Elsa, and Ariel. Now she's working with Tinker Bell from Peter Pan. Cosplay builders Mantinum Industries made components of this outfit for Jessica, which she wore last week to FanimeCon in San Jose, California.

Suggestion: let's see a slave Leia version of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast and Sebastian from The Little Mermaid.

Spoon & Tamago tells us that amezaiku--the Japanese art of lollipop making--has thrived since the Eighth Century. Shrinri Tezuka is a master of the craft. He owns Ameshin, a studio and workshop in Tokyo. There, he produces wondrously realistic and completely edible lollipops that look like animals. He combines sugar, starch, and food coloring into the forms of fish, frogs, and snakes.

Remember Kevin Blandford, the guy who had Not a Single Second of Fun in Puerto Rico? After his photo shoot of a vacation without his wife went viral, the ad agency that promotes Puerto Rico tourism offered him an all-expenses-paid trip back to the island so he could bring his wife and baby daughter!

This just in from the land of great sexism: two female scientists had a manuscript rejected by a peer-reviewed journal because they didn’t ask a man for help. An unnamed peer reviewer for the journal PLoS One suggested that Drs. Fiona Ingleby and Megan Head find male co-authors—any men at all—for a paper they’d written, in order to make sure they weren’t leaping to “ideologically biased assumptions.”

Miracle of miracles, for the first time in I-don’t-know-how-long, I’ve got a full day with no meetings, conference calls, brainstorming sessions, chats, nuthin’! This means I can get some actual work done, and I’ve been chugging away at it since 7:30 this morning, something that’s relatively easy to do when you have a five-second commute:
