Let me play in these pixelart scenes ⊟

It’s the least you can do for not letting me live in them. I love the tiny details in these scenes that make them come alive, like the light filtering through the fan, the train’s swinging straps, or the two-pixel fish swimming in the coffee shop’s aquarium (shouldn’t the C on the door be backwards?). These animations all come from 1041uuu — follow his Tumblr here.

Our friend INTI is currently in France where he just finished working on this massive piece somewhere on the streets of Mulhouse.
In town for the Epistrophe association, the Chilean muralist spent a few days up high on his cherry picker to paint this building. The result is stunning with this vibrant artwork showing one of his signature characters handing out a bowl of cotton.
Hit the jump for more detailed images and check back with us soon for more mural updates from France.

Giant Birdsnest For Humans Breeds New Ideas, Not Chicks

Giant Birdsnest For Humans Breeds New Ideas, Not Chicks nests home eggs

The Giant Birdsnest is exactly that. Except it’s not made from twigs and it’s definitely not for the birds. The gigantic, cozy nest is made from a foam-padded wooden backwall that’s covered with wooden panels and filled with egg-shaped cushions that allow for ergonomic sitting positions. Designed by the Israel-based design firm OGE Creative Group, the Birdsnest is a “new and inspiring socializing space: a fusion of furniture and playground” where ideas come to get incubated.

It’s a multifunctional piece of furniture that can be used for resting, browsing the web, reading, talking and doing almost anything. It comes in 4 different sizes (ranging from 2,700 – 7,900 Euros) and, at its largest, can accommodate up to 16 people at a time. We want all our future meetings to be held in the Birdsnest! CNN's Election Day reporters reimagined as Mortal Kombat korrespondents

by Samit Sarkar

CNN always puts extra effort into its coverage for Election Day, but last night the network eschewed technological wizardry such as holograms and went with a relatively sedate visual: a wall of 24 correspondents reporting from cities and candidate headquarters around the country.

Luckily for us, that still worked perfectly as fodder for the internet parody machine. CollegeHumor's Dan Hopper turned CNN's video board into a character select screen straight out of a Mortal Kombat game, complete with three spaces for unlockable fighters. Our money's on Soledad O'Brien, who's now covering topics such as eSports for HBO's Real Sports.

Wow. CNN really going all-out: pic.twitter.com/Gvr3HaccmH

Franco Fasoli Jaz and Pastel team up for a collab mural in Buenos Aires, Argentina

by saL

Franco Fasoli Jaz and Pastel recently teamed up in their home town of Buenos Aires and created this double piece. Using different color palette for each of the images, they created these two piece that look like a mirrored image at a first glance.
With Jaz' signature anthropomorphic characters, juxtapozed with Pastel's floral imagery, the piece has a strong contrast effect. Both color wise between two pieces, but also with easy, calming feel of the flowers and plants, against aggressive looking characters depicting football hooligans.
Check out more photos after the jump and stay tuned for more fresh news from around the globe!

Windows 93 is your new favorite operating system

by Kwame Opam

What's your favorite version of Windows? Windows 8? Vista? 3.1? No. Your new favorite is obviously Windows 93, which never existed but has somehow arisen out of the deepest, darkest pit of the Internet. After the inexplicable PS1 bootup audio lets you know you've logged in, you'll find yourself in a twisted parallel version of Windows 95 that's seen our future and now hates it — and us. Some of what you'll click is fun, like the fully functional Cat Explorer. Others, like Poney Jockey, claim to open the gates of hell. Which mostly seems like an idle threat, but you never know. To quote a colleague, "This is like the operating system for the Ninth Gate." This is almost clearly an art project, but it's so much more. Dive in if you dare....

This is LeVar Burton reading 'Go the F**k to Sleep'

by Kwame Opam

Stop what you're doing. Turn off whatever it is you're listening to. Geordi La Forge himself is on the internet reading Adam Mansbach's Go the F**k to Sleep and it is everything you could possibly hope for.

Levar Burton, who's already great at playing comedic versions of himself when he's not relaunching Reading Rainbow, did the reading for Rooster Teeth's Extra Life charity campaign, which helps raise money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals for medical research. This is clearly his gift to fans and supporters. We're all fans of Samuel L. Jackson, but we have to say this is pretty transcendent.

The Bros Mario: Noir

actionhankbeard:

A few months ago I was trying to think of a way I could re-imagine the characters from my favorite Nintendo series. The Bros Mario Noir is a series that takes the characters from the colorful world of Super Mario Bros and throws them into a dark, gritty world inspired by classic film noir movies.

Newswire: Download the new Run The Jewels album right now for free

by David Anthony

With all the hype surrounding El-P and Killer Mike’s second album under the Run The Jewels moniker, it’s only fitting the duo would bring all that pre-release excitement to a head by just dropping it early for free. Serving as the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed Run The Jewels, the album features another batch of collaborators—Rage Against The Machine’s Zack De La Rocha, Blink-182’s Travis Barker—to bolster the duo’s affable, glitchy hip-hop. The physical release won’t out be until next week via Mass Appeal, and El-P has only just begun interviewing cats for the Meow The Jewels remix album, which has artists like Zola Jesus, Portishead’s Geoff Barrow, the Alchemist, and many more slated to contribute tracks. But in the meantime, Run The Jewels 2 can be yours immediately—either in the direct link provided by El-P, or on ...

Lost Castle: The Crumbling Ruins of the Castle of Mesen

by Christopher Jobson

Lost Castle: The Crumbling Ruins of the Castle of Mesen history churches Belgium architecture

Located in a park near the center of Lede, Belgium, the Castle of Mesen dates back to the 17th century where it served as a home for various lords before a conversion to an industrial site. Throughout the 1800s the complex was used as a gin distillery, a tobacco factory, and a sugar refinery. In 1897 the castle was then sold to a religious order who constructed an impressive neo-gothic chapel and turned the entire facility into a boarding school.

Although it was still in use up until the 1960s, a tragic storm of abandonment, looting, and a failed attempt to designate the castle as a monument lead to a decision to demolish of the entire castle just a few years ago. Lucky for us, photographer Jan Stel of Past Glory managed to sneak inside and capture a few amazing shots before it disappears forever. The juxtaposition of the stained glass windows and decaying roof and sprawling foliage is especially striking. See more from this series here. (via Arch Atlas)

Extreme Winds Cause a Waterfall in England to Blow Upward

Extreme Winds Cause a Waterfall in England to Blow Upward wind weather waterfalls England

Hikers exploring England’s Derbyshire Peak District earlier this week stumbled onto a rare phenomenon caused by extreme winds. The River Downfall, a 30-meter (98 foot) waterfall was blown back almost vertically by a powerful updraft, making it seem as if the waterfall was simply flowing into nothing. Very cool.
