‘Oscillate’ is a Mesmerizing Digital Animation of Sine Waves by Daniel Sierra
StevenMoment of beauty for the day
Oscillate is a thesis animation made by Daniel Sierra for his MFA at the School of Visual Arts in New York. While essentially an experiment in animation, Sierra says the project was an attempt “to visualize waveform patterns that evolve from the fundamental sine wave to more complex patterns, creating a mesmerizing audio-visual experience in which sight and sound work in unison.” Make sure you view it full-screen, headphones on, you know the drill. I could have watched this continue for twice as long. Hope he got an ‘A’. (thnx, neil!)
Kentucky Ad Agency Starts Paying Men to Advertise With Their Beards
Beardvertising.
Welcome to this brave new world. Cornett-IMS, an ad agency based in Lexington, Kentucky came up with a novel idea for distributing ads around town: pay men $5 to walk around with a small advertisement card in their beards. Sounds like a joke, right? A&W doesn't think so; they've signed up as the campaign's first major business partner.
Hey, at least it's not permanent like a tattoo, right?

Monika Grzymala’s 3D Tape Drawing Explodes onto the Walls of Galerie Crone
StevenSometimes I wish I lived next to an art gallery, and then I remember Cantor is right there!
I’m not sure it’s possible to infuse black tape with more energy than Polish artist Monika Grzymala has accomplished with her piece Raumzeichnung, roughly “Drawing Room”. The three dimensional installation which seems to launch from columns in the basement of Galerie Crone was installed in 2012 and required 3.1 miles (that’s 5km) of stretched, cut, and criss-crossed tape. According to Ignant the artist begins her work from scratch in the gallery, working intuitively with tape to sketch out ideas as she conceives them until the work is done. You can see more of her tape drawings over on Co.Design.
