Ashley Judd maintains that she has not made a decision regarding a potential run for the United States Senate, but all clues suggest that an entry into the election is imminent for the actress and former guest on Who Do You Think You Are?
The latest sign pointing to Ashley’s participation in the Senate race? A recent meeting with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Is Ashley Judd planning to oust Mitch McConnell from his current spot on the Senate? Hard to say for sure, especially given a recent statement in which Ashley thanked American Crossroads for targeting her in an attack ad and then explained that she’s still in the midst of considering “her future political plans, although a decision hasn’t been made yet.” (via Ashley Judd Meets With Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee | Reality TV Magazine)
1. “Wesleyan student removed from the 6th floor for riding the dinosaur.”
2. “Wesleyan student fell down the up escalator. And continued falling as if in a perpetual motion machine.”
Today the TV station WTNH confirmed those reports after speaking to several Wesleyan students with knowledge of the bacchanal, one of whom told the station, “It was kind of a questionable plan to bring a bunch of people to a science museum where there is definitely drinking going on.”
Yes. Yes it was.

When Dwayne Johnson made the transition from wrestler to actor, he preserved a default expression of intense, directed focus. Onscreen or in the ring, Johnson is a man of action, a blunt weapon accustomed to pursuing his goals in the most direct manner imaginable. But the mildly overachieving B-movie Snitch immerses him in a shadowy world where every step he takes to extricate his family from a perilous situation just makes the situation worse. He’s a good man, albeit a flawed, redemption-hungry one, in a bind that seems to grow more hopeless by the moment. Yet just when it appears that Johnson is down for the count, that his dad-of-action can’t possibly survive, he makes a stunning comeback. It turns out wrestling and cinema aren’t so different after all: They’re just two different sweaty, testosterone-soaked forms of hyper-masculine storytelling.
Johnson, who also produced, stars as a ...

At Sony’s interminable live conference revealing the PS4, it was announced that it’s built on an x86 CPU, includes an “enhanced PC GPU”, along with a local hard drive (although no mention of SSD). And it comes with 8GB of GDDR5 memory. Also announced are other features that have that nagging sense of familiarity, including live streaming of games, and the ability to stream yourself playing games. It’s a PC!
So, we say welcome Sony! Glad you’ve decided to join us.

firehose'Blow called it “a game about epiphany” – because Jon Blow, basically.'
By Nathan Grayson on February 21st, 2013 at 1:55 am.

Apparently “PlayStation 4 will be the only console that The Witness is on” when it first launches. Which is a very un-clever way of saying, “and also, it’ll be on PC,” but whatever. We get an actual, factual trailer of Braid creator Jonathan Blow’s latest out of the deal, so Sony’s inhumanly lengthy, droning “pppfffthrp” of a commercial‘s no skin off my nose. But I digress. The Witness, if you’ll remember, is set on an open-world island full of laser puzzles. It also looks exceedingly attractive. I’m not sure what to think about the puzzles themselves, but it’s tough to get a bead on these things when you’re not, you know, solving them. Anyway, trailer ahoy!
While presenting the Myst-like explorer during Sony’s miserable nonference, Blow called it “a game about epiphany” – because Jon Blow, basically. More importantly, he noted that it’ll clock in at around 25 hours, which is quite hefty by modern puzzling standards. Other than that, however, we don’t have a whole lot to go on.
Well, except for Dan’s massive heap of impressions and chit-chat with Blow from many, many moons ago. Obviously, things could have changed quite a lot since then, but – at the time – our absentee Lord of Grills described the island’s tapestry of dreamlike environments and unpredictable puzzles as:
“A game about working your mind hard, becoming aware of the world around you and coming to appreciate how it can be integrated with puzzles about sound, shadows, texture, mathematics, location, light and memory, never knowing what’s going to be relevant to the next puzzle. Like Blow’s Braid, it’s also about the expression of both philosophical concepts and of intriguing, rapidly-changing mechanics, though neither of these are forced on you.”
So it sounds intriguing, but it also certainly has the potential to be just as divisive as Braid’s highly symbolic brand of hop ‘n’ bop – if not more so. That said, while I don’t think Braid was the revolution many people wanted it to be, it certainly made a mark. Overwrought or not, Blow’s visions are unflinching in their confidence, so they land with cannon-ball-like impact. There’s something to be said for that, I think. As for what exactly it is, well, there’s a reason we all argue so much over the guy in the first place.

This pair of musical keyboard hacks both use light to detect inputs. The pair of tips came in on the same day, which sparks talk of consipiracy theory here at Hackaday. Something in the weather must influence what types of projects people take on because we frequently see trends like this one. Video of both projects is embedded after the jump.
On the left is a light-sensitive keyboard which [Kaziem] is showing off. In this image he’s rolling a marble around on the surface. As it passes over the Cadmium Sulfide sensors (which are arranged in the pattern of white and black keys from a piano keyboard) the instrument plays pitches based on the changing light levels. [Thanks Michael via Make]
To the right is [Lex's] proximity sensor keyboard. It uses a half-dozen Infrared proximity sensor which pick up reflected light. He calls it a ‘quantised theremin’ and after seeing it in action we understand why. The overclocked Raspberry Pi playing the tones reacts differently based on distance from the keyboard itself, and hand alignment with the different sensors.

Shia LaBeouf’s Broadway deBeout has been indefinitely delayed, as the actor has dropped out of the upcoming Orphans mere weeks before previews were set to begin. LaBeouf was set to star in the revival of Lyle Kessler’s 1983 play as the eldest of two orphaned brothers who kidnap a mobster played by Alec Baldwin—a role that, presumably, the studiously Method acting LaBeouf prepared for by killing his parents. That preparation was all for naught, unfortunately, as LaBeouf has now left the production due to “creative differences,” an intentionally vague excuse that one can interpret in myriad ways until LaBeouf finally gives a cantankerous interview about how no one respected his suggestions, such as how his character should convey vulnerability by being nude at all times. It’s also fun to imagine that Alec Baldwin showed up to rehearsal in an Optimus Prime mask and Shia LaBeouf flipped ...
