Microsoft’s brand of mixed reality is coming to cheap PCs before the end of the year.
Affordable mixed reality headgear costing roughly $300 will be arriving this year —consumer models are expected in the fall with development editions coming sooner — from Windows and partners like Asus, Lenovo and Acer. Plus, what's even more exciting is that by the time consumers get their hands on the cheap headgear, you won't have to buy an expensive PC to actually play in mixed reality. A Windows 10 update in the fall will let affordable PCs (think $500) power these new mixed reality headsets and experiences. Read more...
Nvidia released its brand new GeForce Game Ready 381.65 WHQL drivers. Although this driver release may not look like much, there's actually a lot more going under the surface.
Double King is a beautifully animated story about a king doing weird but kingly things, like destroying all other royalty. There's a price to be paid, no matter who you are.
In this video filmed at John Ball Zoo, in Grand Rapids, Mishigan, a chimpanzee throws its poo at an elderly lady in the audience at hits her in the face.
Mobile is today as important, if not more important, than desktops when it comes to the internet and apps. A clear reminder of that comes with news of a report claiming that Google’s Android has overtaken Windows as the internet’s most used operating system. Research from web analytics company Statcounter found Android now accounts for a larger share of internet usage than… Read More
The Beastie Boys are the first successful white rap group, and even though they had punk rock roots the B-Boys had to play up their hip hop image during the 80s order to make it big.
But Ad-Rock, Mike D and MCA were also able to maintain one special thing throughout their career- their incredibly campy sense of humor.
You could see it in their videos and hear it in their songs from day one, and in 1999-2000 their silly sense of humor led the Beasties to create a secret country album for a couple hundred of their closest friends.
The album is called "Country Mike's Greatest Hits", and it features thirteen bonafide, if not a bit silly, country tracks, some of which real country music fans might actually enjoy.
Just in time for doomsday, Norway’s “Doomsday Vault” is getting an expansion. There is a famous story told in Chassidic literature that addresses this very question. The Master teaches the student that God created everything in the world to be appreciated, since everything is here to teach us a lesson.
One clever student asks “What lesson can we learn from atheists? Why did God create them?”
The Master responds “God created atheists to teach us the most important lesson of them all — the lesson of true compassion. You see, when an atheist performs and act of charity, visits someone who is sick, helps someone in need, and cares for the world, he is not doing so because of some religious teaching. He does not believe that god commanded him to perform this act. In fact, he does not believe in God at all, so his acts are based on an inner sense of morality. And look at the kindness he can bestow upon others simply because he feels it to be right.”
“This means,” the Master continued “that when someone reaches out to you for help, you should never say ‘I pray that God will help you.’ Instead for the moment, you should become an atheist, imagine that there is no God who can help, and say ‘I will help you.’”

I started reading this and was worried it would be something attacking atheists, or bashing religion, but this makes me really, really happy.

Giant tarantulas keep tiny frogs as pets. Insects will eat the burrowing tarantulas’ eggs - so the spiders protect the frogs from predators, and in return the frogs eat the insects. Source
This has blown my mind for years. It’s so unreal. It’s almost the same exact reason humans and cats started living together.
Tiny frogs are tarantula housecats. A science fact seldom gets to sound that much like meaningless word salad.
This is legit, guys. And I’m excited about it.
Someone needs to draw a tarantula person with a tiny pet housefrog now. Please let this be a thing.
How is this?
This entire post is magic. And that is so cool how the Tarantula will protect the frog. :3
The WaPo piece that kicked off Darnielle's bid for swift human extinction bases its analysis on a study published this month on the global spider population's eating habits.
Researchers Martin Nyffeler and Klaus Birkhofer found that spiders the world over consume, in total, between 400 and 800-million tons of prey per year. It's a set of numbers large enough to trigger a fear-induced blackout for anyone with arachnophobia. Read more...
