J.Crew x New Balance 1400 “Fort Green”

For the past several years, J.Crew has been the best option for New Balance fanatics to get their fix of the venerable 1400 silhouette. The retailer’s exclusive models of the retro runner were previously offered in all suede builds, but now the two brands have cooked up a classic mesh and suede style in an appealing “Fort Green” colorway, featuring an olive green shade inspired by the tree-lined streets of the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn. Discreet hits of orange at the heel clip and tongue tag provide contrasting pops of color, while a reflective heel tab is a callback to the shoe’s running roots. A white leather “N” logo and gum rubber outsole round out the details. The kicks are available now through select J.Crew locations and online.

Relatives Dress a Deceased Man as Green Lantern and Stand Him Up at His Wake Because He Was a Hero to Them
The relatives of Renato García, a Puerto Rican boxer who enjoyed dressing up as Green Lantern during the last few weeks of his life, decided to give him a standing wake dressed as his favorite DC Comics superhero because the community considered him to be a superhero in life. In an interview with Primera Hora, his sister Milagros García said Renato was always willing to lend a hand.
(translated) He was always very helpful. He was left anyone wanting. Never say no. You beckoned and he was always there. …I was going to a regular funeral for him, but the neighbors and the community had this idea. I know he would have liked it.
The community also came out to Renato’s funeral, wanting to say goodbye to the kind person they knew and loved.
Lots of mourners, relatives, friends and residents of the village of San José in Río Piedras, wore shirts alluding to the famous character, as a symbol of mourning on the death of Renato, who attributed all attractive qualities and virtues. Neighbors said that when Renato found a Green Lantern costume in the trash can and decided to dress and embody the character, nobody scoffed at him, and were sympathetic when they out found what he did.

NASA Celebrates Five Years of the Solar Dynamics Observatory With a Video Highlighting Solar Activity
Mrdesplainesfuck.
NASA is celebrating the five year anniversary of the Solar Dynamics Observatory operated by the Goddard Space Flight Center with a video highlighting some of the most impressive solar activity it has observed in its time.
February 11, 2015 marks five years in space for NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, which provides incredibly detailed images of the whole sun 24 hours a day. Capturing an image more than once per second, SDO has provided an unprecedentedly clear picture of how massive explosions on the sun grow and erupt ever since its launch on Feb. 11, 2010. The imagery is also captivating, allowing one to watch the constant ballet of solar material through the sun’s atmosphere, the corona.
International Space Station Crew Poster Features Astronauts as ‘Star Wars’ Jedi
The official crew poster for the International Space Station mission Expedition 45 shows the six astronauts wielding lightsabers and wearing traditional robes of the Jedi order from the Star Wars universe.
The expedition crew is an international team consisting of Commander Scott Kelly and flight engineer Kjell Lindgren from NASA; cosmonaut flight engineers Oleg Kononenko, Mikhail Kornienko, and Sergey Volkov from Russia; and JAXA flight engineer Kimiya Yui from Japan.
In the poster, Lindgren is holding a red lightsaber, which is traditionally the weapon of a Sith. Any Sith/Jedi conflict on the ISS would certainly make for an exciting mission. Perhaps the crew will study how Force powers behave in microgravity.

Heinz Sriracha-Flavored Ketchup

America’s obsession with Sriracha is sometimes puzzling but it has become one of the most necessary condiments for any and all meals that are not limited to just chicken and broccoli but pizza, hot dogs and even snacks like popcorn. Today we bring good news to fans of the popular hot sauce, which, let’s be frank, is probably all of us. Heinz, makers of the best ketchups and mustards, has announced a Sriracha-flavored ketchup that will hit stores this month. Much like the label’s other flavored ketchups like Heinz Tomato Ketchup Blended with Real Jalapeno and Heinz Tomato Ketchup Blended with Balsamic Vinegar, it will maintain their signature taste but will be fused with the recognizable spicy chili pepper and garlic flavors of the Rooster sauce. Heinz Ketchup Blended with Sriracha will become available in the coming weeks at your local grocery stores. Be very excited.

Hobbyists Use First-Person Video Headsets to Race Drones on a Snowy Day in New York City
Motherboard traveled to the Bronx to spend a cold February day with the New York City Drone User Group, who race UAVs with the aid of first-person video viewed through a pair of goggles. The race was the first of its kind in the city, but those involved are convinced that it will one day become much bigger phenomenon.
These homemade machines can fly at speeds of up to 100 miles an hour, making it the perfect option for people who have a speed obsession but can’t shell out for a private jet. Those who race say it’s going to be on ESPN one day, that we’ll have drone racing stadiums, and leagues, and maybe even Mario Kart-style combat.
