For me, hunting for hard to find books and collecting them is a way for me to relieve stress. There is nothing I like to do more than dig through hundreds of long boxes for hours on end for a few hard to find gems. I also love to come to the CBSI pages to see what people picked up recently, what character they think will pop in the near future or what book they are enjoying at the moment. The world is made up of millions of different people with all kinds of different tastes. Just because one person loves a book and thinks it will be the next hot book doesn’t mean we all have to agree with that person. Debating a book’s relevance is a great thing as long as it is done in a constructive way. Remember this is a hobby for most of us and hobbies are supposed to be enjoyable! With that, I will get off my soapbox and bring on the next batch of covers! Keep the comments going guys! The title of this movie is Clowntergeist and it is a horror movie about an evil clown. Specifically, it is a horror movie about a clown that is possessed by a demon and stalks around a small town, leaving messages on balloons informing his victims exactly when he will kill them. It seems to contain shades of The Ring, It, and Poltergeist. It looks, by design, completely absurd and possibly very bad. It also looks like it could be, under the right circumstances, kind of fun? Maybe? You can watch the trailer and judge for yourself.
I’m going to share an anecdote now (and you can feel free to skim right down the video embed and watch the trailer, if you’d like). Roughly once a week, my wife and I break out the alcohol, fire up the PlayStation 4, and pick a streaming service to scour for horror movies. Anything is game and movies with ridiculous titles and premises often end up at the top of the queue. We have to watch any movie we pick for at least 20 minutes and after that point, we both have to agree to turn off the movie if it’s a huge pile of crap (which is often the case). Sometimes, we stumble across legit masterpieces like The Legend of Hell House or uncomfortable minor gems like Christopher Smith’s Creep. Most of the time, we can’t hit stop fast enough before moving on to another movie.
Clowntergeist looks destined to be a movie that we start watching as a lark at 1:30 in the morning and turn off at the 20-minute mark. And between that title and that poster (which you can see below), I wouldn’t be surprised if getting on Netflix is the only goal of everyone involved. I mean, the movie is called Clowntergeist. That’s Sharknado-level shamelessness.
Maybe I’m being unfair? Clowntergeist is the feature debut of director Aaron Mirtes, who has a number of shorts under his belt, and maybe he’s a talent to watch! Maybe the final movie isn’t as awkward as this trailer, with its stiff acting and generic scares. Maybe the chief villain being named “Ribcage the Clown” (seriously) plays better in context? Maybe I’ll hit play on this one and feel compelled to watch until the very end! I would want nothing more than to be pleasantly surprised by this one, mainly because I know I’m destined to watch it at some point.
Anyway, between this, 31, Clown, and the upcoming remake of It, it’s starting to look like clowns are ready to give witches a run for their money when it comes to the next big horror trend.

Though most of Hollywood is interested in remaking, rebooting or retooling the highest rated TV shows and highest grossing blockbusters franchises, some attention is being paid to giving the treatment to cult classic titles. Such is the case with a series adaptation of Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy Snatch.
Snatch has been turned into a 10-episode series at Sony’s free streaming service Crackle (the same company behind Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and the Joe Dirt sequel no one asked for). It doesn’t follow the same story as the movie, but it tries to capture the spirit and style with the chronicle of a real life heist that happened in London. It also features Harry Potter franchise star Rupert Grint and Gossip Girl heartthrob Ed Westwick in the ensemble cast, but will it be enough to get people to watch?

While the trailer does feature some signature elements of Guy Ritchie’s movie, there’s something about it that’s just not clicking in the same way for me. It might be because it looks a little more polished than the movie, missing that gritty, grimy feel of Guy Ritchie’s production design. Or maybe it’s because the humor and storytelling style doesn’t feel quite as edgy.
The good news is that showrunner Alex De Rakoff did get the blessing from Guy Ritchie, though with one condition that will have to be determined by viewers. De Rakoff explained at the Television Critics Association winter press tour recently (via Nerdist):
“I’ve known Guy for a long time so when I was approached by Crackle to look at this I went to him and said, ‘How do you feel about it? Do I do it?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, if it’s f–king good.’ And that was the end of it. I took that on and worked tirelessly ever since to try and do something that in some way holds up to the standard of the original film.”
He also explained that while the series is loosely based on the movie, they wanted to set out and do something on their own. Again, I find myself asking why Crackle didn’t just craft an original series instead of coasting on the name of a revered cult classic, but we all know the answer to that question.
In addition to Rupert Grint (who also executive producers the series) and Ed Westwick, the series also stars Luke Pasqualino (Skins), Lucien Laviscount (Scream Queens), Dougray Scott (Fear the Walking Dead), Phoebe Dynevor (The Village) and Juliet Aubrey (The Infiltrator).
Inspired by a real life heist in London, “Snatch,” centers on a group of twenty-something, up and coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime. The boys must quickly learn to navigate the treacherous waters of London’s underworld as rogue cops, gypsy fighters, international mobsters and local villains descend.
Snatch hits Crackle on March 16.

We didn’t get a new movie from director Judd Apatow this year, and part of the reason for that is because he’s producing a new TV series for HBO as another one is wrapping up. Girls will begin its final season in February, but Judd Apatow will stay comfy at HBO with a new comedy series starring stand-up comedian Pete Holmes.
Crashing follows Pete Holmes playing a version of himself from years ago. The HBO series follows Holmes as an up and coming, naive stand-up comedian in New York City whose seemingly happy life is uprooted when he finds his wife cheating on him. As he tries to get some stage time and recover from his destroyed marriage, he couch surfs across New York City, staying with his various comedian friends played by Holmes’ real-life comedian friends who you’ll definitely recognize in a new trailer for the show.

Holmes explained during HBO’s panel at the Television Critics Association winter tour panel that he’s playing a regressed version of himself. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Holmes commented on the show’s version of himself, “It’s not a caricature but it’s definitely a different person than I am right now.”
When it comes to comedians like Sarah Silverman, T.J. Miller, Artie Lange, Dave Attell, Hannibal Buress, Jim Norton and more, they’re all playing themselves for the most part. Though Judd Apatow, who directs the pilot episode in addition to executive producing the show, explains that some of the lesser known stand-up comics appearing in the show play more of a character than the aforementioned marquee names.
As a big fan of Pete Holmes, including his very personal, intimate podcast You Made It Weird (which recounts plenty of the details and stories that will be told in this series), I can’t wait to see this show on HBO. Holmes is such a bright talent in comedy with an enthusiastic spirit that never wanes. With Apatow helping him along for his first narrative series, this will hopefully be a new comedy staple in HBO’s programming line-up.
After discovering his wife, Jessica, in a compromising position with another man, aspiring but unworldly stand-up comedian Pete flees to the New York comedy scene, where he crashes on other people’s couches, in the process learning hard lessons about life and himself.
Crashing debuts on HBO next month on February 19 at 10:30pm ET.

Better Call Saul hasn’t exactly been subtle with its hints that Breaking Bad baddie Gus Fring would come knocking in the very near future. Last week, they went so far as to release a Los Pollos Hermanos “commercial” featuring Giancarlo Esposito back in character. But it’s only now they’ve finally gone and made it official. Yes, Gus Fring will be in Better Call Saul season 3 — and it sounds like he’ll be giving Mike Ehrmentraut (Jonathan Banks) something to chew on.
The first Better Call Saul clip, however, has nothing to do with chicken or drugs or Gus Fring whatsoever. Instead, it checks in on Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), who seem to be feeling a little awkward about the way things went down in season two.
During its TCA panel over the weekend, AMC confirmed Esposito will be reprising the role of Gus Fring for Better Call Saul season 3. But this Fring might not be exactly the way you remember him — and not just because he’ll have his face intact. “We’re at a time where he’s a little more immature than where we left off. He’s still finding his way,” teased Esposito, adding that “it would be wonderful for me to [see] the rise of Gus, because I think there’s enough backstory within Gus to support that.”
How exactly Gus Fring figures into the new season remains to be seen, but it’s likely got something to do with Mike. Season 2 ended with Mike finding a mysterious note, believed by fans to be from Gus, and the season 3 logline indicates Mike will be looking for “a mysterious adversary who seems to know almost everything about his business.”
Meanwhile, Jimmy seems to have plenty on his plate already, what with his ongoing feud with his brother Chuck (Michael McKean) and his very complicated friendship / romance / partnership with Kim (Rhea Seehorn). The first Better Call Saul clip offers a tiny taste of what’s to come on that front. There seems to be some residual weirdness between Kim and Jimmy. And if Jimmy thinks his relationship with Chuck is damaged now, wait ’til Chuck gets his revenge with the taped confession.
Now, after all that goodness, you’re probably wondering when we’ll get to see the rest of Better Call Saul season 3. Well, there’s good news on that front as well. AMC has just announced Better Call Saul season 3 will kick off Monday, April 10 at 10/9c.

A new animated show is on the way from The King of the Hill and Beavis and Butt-head creator Mike Judge. Cinemax has ordered eight episodes of Mike Judge Presents: Tales From the Tour Bus, which is now in production. Judge co-created the half-hour comedy series with Richard Mullins and Dub Cornett (The Last Ride).

Deadline writes that Tales From the Tour Bus “chronicles the tales of some of country music’s most eccentric characters.” The outlet doesn’t have any other details regarding these characters or what of kind stories we’ll see, but it’s expected to premiere this year. The series coming from Cinemax is a slight surprise since they’re not exactly known for animation or comedy, but apparently, this is a part of the cable channel’s steps towards rebranding. If you’re finally going to give a half-hour animated comedy series a shot, though, who better to do it with than Mike Judge?
Judge has been busy the past few years showing the tech capital with HBO’s Silicon Valley, a world that’s proven to be a goldmine for laughs. Tales From the Tour Bus is his return to animation. The last animated series he created, The Goode Family, lasted only a season on ABC in 2009. The reviews weren’t positive, and it doesn’t seem to have developed a following like Office Space, Idiocracy, or (arguably) Extract — all films by Judge that rightfully found an appreciative audience later on.
In 2011, Judge came back to animation with a Beavis and Butt-head revival. MTV ordered an eighth season of the show, but they only made those 22 new episodes and the network didn’t renew the comedy for a ninth season. Judge actually thinks Beavis and Butt-head could one day return, possibly in live-action. Seeing those characters brought to life sounds potentially horrifying and hilarious. “Maybe it could be a live-action someday,” he said, after predicting Beavis was probably “homeless.”
Whatever Judge works on, including Tales From the Tour Bus, always sounds promising because of his name alone. We just naturally expect good things from him, considering the high quality of his sense of humor. We’ll next see from Mike Judge the fourth season of Silicon Valley, which premieres on HBO sometime this year. An airdate hasn’t been announced yet, but the show typically premieres in April.

With all the superhero movies hitting theaters each year, audiences are getting a little sick of origin stories. But in the Sundance selected film Sleight, we get a movie that takes a homegrown approach to the superhero origin thanks to some ingenuity and street-level drama.
Sleight follows a young high school boy named Bo (Jacob Latimore) who must take on the responsibility of caring for his younger sister after a family tragedy leaves them alone. Barely getting by with the money he gets from strangers for doing street magic, he can’t help but get involved with some of the wrong people, for the sake of his family. That creates all sorts of problems, but he just might have the right tricks to get out of them.

Our own Peter Sciretta called this movie a “must-see” when he caught the movie at the Sundance Film Festival last year (as well as “absolutely thrilling” as you see in the trailer), and I have to agree with him. This has all the makings of a superhero origin that are made all the more refreshing by the low-key approach to the story. Jacob Latimore’s character could easily be Miles Morales, and the entire movie really feels like it could be a Spider-Man movie.
Sleight not only has solid performances, including supporting cast members Storm Reid, Seychelle Gabriel, Dulé Hill, Sasheer Zamata and Cameron Esposito, but it’s also extremely clever and impressive. There’s no doubt that director J.D. Dillard has a bright career ahead of him if this is the kind of movie he can make on a low budget. It’s like Unbreakable meets Iron Man with a hint of Now You See Me, and it’s the kind of indie that deserves to be sought out in theaters.

When Bo, a handsome and gifted high school student, suddenly becomes the sole caretaker for his little sister, Tina, he foregoes college to dedicate his talents to the craft of magic. He wows audiences as a street magician but still has to make ends meet, so he cleverly uses his skills to peddle drugs for the local dealer, Angelo. However when Bo falls for Holly, an adorable teenager in need of support, he decides to get out of the drug business, causing Angelo to threaten his family. Bo must now rely on his sleight of hand and brilliant mind to save the day.
Sleight hits theaters on April 7.

In a move that’s sure to send shockwaves throughout the board game universe, Hasbro is holding a special fan voting event called Token Madness, and the popular board game Monopoly will never be the same again! For roughly the next 20 days, fans can visit the Token Madness website and vote for their favorite tokens. users can select up to 8 tokens from a massive list featuring 56 brand new ones. It’s unclear how much effect this will have on Hasbro’s final selection, and whether they plan to potentially replace all of the remaining classic tokens, or simply add a few new ones.
In any case, Entertainment Weekly wins journalism this week, as they revealed all of the new tokens in an unprecedented 65 slide slideshow, with multiple ads interspersed amongst the slide. Most sites that copied the news were deterred by this, but your friends at Bleeding Cool entered the dangerous profession of entertainment journalism knowing that, sometimes, we would have to do the hard work that nobody else wanted to. Most would probably agree the fourth season of Arrested Development was shaky, but it was clearly hurt by the show trying to work around the star’s schedules. It did have enough good moments, suggesting there might be reason to come back though.
And it looks like it is finally happening. Speaking to The Wrap, executive producer Brian Grazer said that the show was really close to getting production going and crucially, all the cast had agreed to return. He said:
I think we’re really close to pulling it off finally. All of the actors have agreed to do it and I think they’ve agreed to their compensation structure. That’s been the hardest–it’s all hard…But it should be happening soon.
I want another good season of Arrested development, and you miss all the shots you don’t take. Hopefully the characters are all in one place this time though. I really hope this does come to fruition very soon.

Artist Matt Ferguson has created a Lord of the Rings trilogy print set that is beautiful. Matt Ferguson’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy Set is officially licensed by Warner Bros/New Line.
The 12×24 inch screenprints are titled “Bag End,” “Zirakzigil,” and “Minas Tirith.” The set will be available for $100, while individual prints can be purchased for $35. The timed edition will start Thursday, January 12th, 2017 at 12 pm eastern and last until Sunday, January 15th, 2017 at 11:59 pm eastern on bottleneckgallery.com.

Bottleneck is also holding a charity pin release for the Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund with 100% of all profits from the pin to be donated to the fund in memory of Alexandra Grace, who was close to one of the members of the Bottleneck team. The pin will cost $10.

Recently Michael Fassbender has played a mutant on a mission, a man with a Macintosh, and Macbeth. Now he finds himself in a caravan family of criminals in a new indie thriller.
Trespass Against Us sees Michael Fassbender as Chad Cutler, one chain in three generations of a family who have been outlaws living in the country for decades. Brendan Gleeson plays his father who proudly passes the mantle down, but it appears there’s a kink in the chain as Chad realizes he doesn’t want his son Tyson to follow in his footsteps. Though he’s attempted to stop his criminal ways, he can’t help but take on one last job from his father in order to finally leave it all behind.

The first trailer for this film from Adam Smith back in the fall cleverly painted the picture of a kind of quirky family drama before it took a more serious, tense turn in the second half. This one takes that turn a little sooner and shows us more footage of the conflict that arises between Gleeson and Fassbender, which should be fantastic to watch.
Trespass Against Us premiered back at TIFF last year and the reviews were not overwhelmingly positive. At best, they were mixed, with Jordan Hoffman at The Guardian writing, “The film wants us to fall in love with this extended band of outcasts, but really, there isn’t all that much to love. They aren’t even doing anything with the money they steal! But Gleeson and Fassbender, given plenty of space in what are ultimately meandering scenes, are still somewhat electrifying.” So at the very least, Fassbender and Gleeson do their best with what they’re given.
Trespass Against Us is set across three generations of the Cutler family who live as outlaws in their own anarchic corner of Britain’s richest countryside. Chad Cutler (Michael Fassbender) is heir apparent to his bruising criminal father, Colby (Brendan Gleeson) and has been groomed to spend his life hunting, thieving and tormenting the police. But with his own son, Tyson (Georgie Smith) coming of age, Chad soon finds himself locked in a battle with his father for the future of his young family. When Colby learns of Chad’s dreams for another life he sets out to tie his son and grandson into the archaic order that has bound the Cutler family for generations. He engineers a spectacular piece of criminal business involving a heist, a high-speed car chase and a manhunt, which leaves Chad bruised and bloodied and with his very freedom at stake.
Trespass Against Us hits theaters in the UK in March but has no US release date yet.

Following the trailer for the Showtime series I’m Dying Up Here, we have a look at another fascinating glimpse into the world of stand-up comedy, this time one from the real world.
Dying Laughing is a new documentary that feels like it should have been called I’m Dying Up Here, because it features one-on-one interviews with stand-up comedians like Jerry Seinfeld, Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, Cedric The Entertainer, Russell Peters, the late Garry Shandling and more, all talking about their worst experiences on stage. These are the times when the bombed, died, crashed and all the other words which describe the worst thing that can happen to a comedian on stage: not getting laughs.

Other features comedians talking about their worst stage experiences include Billy Connolly, Steve Coogan, Mike Epps, Jerry Lewis, Sarah Silverman, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Eddie Izzard and even Oscar nominee Jamie Foxx, who some forget got his start in stand-up and sketch comedy.
Dying Laughing premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival last year, and was picked up by Gravitas Ventures for release in limited theaters and on VOD this year. Directors Paul Toogood and Lloyd Stanton had this to say about their movie:
Over two years, as the film began to emerge from the thousands of miles traveled and hundreds of hours or interviews, we learned about the physical and emotional dedication that it takes to become a stand-up comedian, and that the prospect of failure haunts even the most experienced and celebrated practitioners. We hope that the audience will find the final piece as touching, thought-provoking, inspirational and as funny as we do.
The Hollywood Reporter caught the documentary last year, and it sounds like despite being a bit repetitive at times and covering some territory that has been explored in other comedy documentaries, it’s still worth a watch:
Though the engaging documentary treads through unavoidably familiar territory — the loneliness of the road, the anguish of bombing — its chorus of testifiers often find sharp new angles of approach. Like the jokes they hone, many of their insights arrive with the impact of well-crafted punchlines.
Every comedian has stories like this, from the rising stars to the top tier performers, and they’re always fascinating to listen to. Apparently, Toogood and Stanton interviewed twice as many comedians as ended up in the final cut, and I’d love to pore over all that extra footage. Maybe some of it will be released on home video.
Dying Laughing hits limited theaters and VOD on February 24.

Like so many other esteemed filmmakers in recent years, Joel and Ethan Coen are making the move to television. The brothers are teaming up with Annapurna Television for The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, a limited series that they wrote and will direct. Intriguingly, this won’t be just a television series — the idea is that the entire project will be some combination of television and (theatrically released) film.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs marks the Coens’ first real push into television. Although the brothers are credited as executive producers on FX’s Fargo, which is based on their 1996 film, it’s really Noah Hawley’s show. The Coens will have a much more active role in developing and making The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, which is based on an original concept that they came up with. The brothers have had great success with the Western genre in the past, helming the very good True Grit and the exceptional No Country for Old Men.
In addition to writing and directing, they’ll also produce through their Mike Zoss Productions label. Annapurna’s Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle serve as executive producers.
Plot details on the Coen brothers TV show are being kept under wraps for now, but it’s described as an “event anthology” that will weave together six different storylines. Apparently, their idea was too big to be contained in a single feature film, so Annapurna is pursuing a combined TV / theatrical release. Exactly how the project will be broken up remains unclear. No distributor or release date has been announced yet.
Variety likens the Annapurna’s multi-platform approach for The Ballad of Buster Scruggs to the one Imagine Entertainment has planned for their adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, which will kick off this year with its first feature film. It also sounds a bit like Lionsgate’s plan for The Kingkiller Chronicle, which is being developed simultaneously for the big screen and the small screen.
The Coens last directed Hail, Caesar! and co-wrote the script for Suburbicon, George Clooney’s next movie as director. The Coens have not yet announced what their next film project will be.

Tom Hardy is coming to FX next week with a new series called Taboo that sees him inheriting what’s left of his father’s shipping empire in 1814, bringing with him a ruthless attitude for dealing with his competitors and anyone who stands in his way. It appears merging deadly, strong lead characters with business from centuries ago is a popular trend in TV right now, because Jason Momoa is venturing even further back in time for a new series on Netflix.
Frontier sees Jason Momoa as Declan Harp, a fur trader who is driven by lust and revenge, basically a Khal Drogo for the late 1700s. Harp finds himself warring with various factions for control of the North American fur trade, and all the power, money and glory that goes with it. In the first Frontier trailer, you can see that Jason Momoa is all business. Watch it below.
Declan Harp (Momoa) is a part-Irish, part-Native American outlaw creating trouble for the Hudson’s Bay Company, which not only had a monopoly on the fur trade in the land that would become Canada, but they were also the largest single land owner there at the time. That makes for some pretty steep and powerful competition, but it’s nothing that the mountain that is Jason Momoa can’t handle.
As for the trailer, it doesn’t feel quite as compelling as it should be. It almost feels like a show that would have fit alongside the likes of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys starring Kevin Sorbo or Xena: Warrior Princess with Lucy Lawless. There’s just something about the drama that doesn’t have the gravitas that it’s trying to have. That last line that Jason Momoa grumbles is a prime example of what I’m talking about. Since this is directed by Brad Peyton (San Andreas), I guess that’s not too surprising.
Anyway, in addition to to the future Aquaman star leading the series, the cast includes Landon Liboiron (Hemlock Grove), Alun Armstrong (Braveheart), Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle), Jessica Matten (Blackstone), Shawn Doyle (House of Cards) and Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey).
Frontier is created by Peter & Rob Blackie (Republic of Doyle), and Netflix must have some kind of confidence in the show already because it’s been given a second season order before the first episode has debuted on Netflix (though it has been playing on Discovery Canada apparently).

There have been plenty of great series on Showtime. However, personally, I’ve never felt compelled to subscribe in order to watch any of them. That might change with the cable network’s new series set in the world of 1970s stand-up comedy.
I’m Dying Up Here follows a group of stand-up comedians (played by Clark Duke, R.J. Cyler, Ari Graynor, and more) hoping to make it big at a time when stand-up comedy was one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the country. Every comedian was hoping to land an agent and end up on Johnny Carson, and if the Tonight Show host shook your hand and welcomed you to sit down, then you had it made.

What’s great about this series is that is meshes some outstanding dramatic actors with plenty of comedy stars who also have a foot in the world of stand-up and sketch comedy. Melissa Leo is the woman behind the club Goldie’s where all the action is, while other cast members include Michael Angarano (The Knick), Andrew Santino (Mixology), Erik Griffin (Workaholics), Al Madrigal (The Daily Show) and Jake Lacy (Obvious Child).
And those are just the regular cast members. There’s an impressive array of guest stars such as Stephen Guarino (Happy Endings), Brianne Howey (Horrible Bosses 2), Jon Daly (Kroll Show), Ginger Gonzaga (Togetherness), Dylan Baker (The Good Wife), Robert Forster (Jackie Brown), Cathy Moriarty (Raging Bull), and even Captain America: Civil War star Sebastian Stan and Spider-Man 2 villain Alfred Molina.
Even though I didn’t live through the 1970s, the spirit of the world of stand-up comedy hasn’t changed at all, and this looks like it captures what it’s like to be a struggling stand-up comedian. You’re always desperate for those laughs. It’s like a drug. And no one understands that better than series executive producer Jim Carrey, which is probably why this feels so authentic. Here’s hoping he makes some kind of cameo appearance as Andy Kaufman.
The new one-hour Showtime drama series I’m Dying Up Here explores L.A.’s famed ‘70s stand-up comedy scene where the careers of legends such as David Letterman, Jay Leno and Richard Pryor were launched. The series delves into the inspired, damaged and complicated psyches of those who stand alone in front of an audience “dying” for fame, fortune and, with any luck, a shot on Johnny Carson.
I’m Dying Up Here stars Academy Award winner Melissa Leo (Wayward Pines, Treme), Ari Graynor (Bad Teacher), Michael Angarano (The Knick), Clark Duke (Hot Tub Time Machine), Andrew Santino (Mixology), Erik Griffin (Workaholics), RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), Al Madrigal (The Daily Show), and Jake Lacy (Obvious Child) as part of a large ensemble cast.
This fictional group of competitive but close-knit comedians is mentored by “Goldie” (Leo), a brassy comedy club owner who rules over her business with an iron fist, but nurtures her comedians with tough love. For Goldie and her crew, there’s truly no such thing as an easy laugh.
