matttaylordraws: My former workplace ilovedust have recently...

matttaylordraws:

My former workplace ilovedust have recently updated their website and have included a little personal project I worked on last year.

I had an itch to do something Norse themed, so drew up these three guys to dress the bottles of the fictitious Vargold vodka brand (Vargold is the name given to the end of days - or wolf age - in Norse myth and I stand by the fact that would be a GREAT name for a vodka maker). So we have Odin and his raven, Vidar battling Fenrir, and the unnamed eagle atop Yggdrasil - the world tree.

Someone very kindly mocked these up on to bottles so they look pretty fantastic, and you can see these along with plenty of other work (some of which I worked on, a lot of which I didn’t) on the website now.

Cool Stuff: ‘The Goonies’ 30th Anniversary Lego Cuusoo Set

by Germain Lussier

Goonies 30 Lego 1

Lego sets, especially Lego Cuusoo sets, take a long time to get approved. That’s why, in 2013, one builder has begun to drum up support for a 30th anniversary set themed around the cult-classic 1985 film The Goonies. The set is made up of two distinct scenes from the film that combine to form big construct. And, of course, includes Lego Mini-Figs of all your favorite characters: Sloth, Mikey, Data, Mouth, Brand and many more. Check out the images, and show your support, below.

The full site for the 30th anniversary Goonies Lego Cuusoo set is here. Thanks to The Fire Wire for the heads up. Here are images of the figs, the two sets and the combined result.

You can see more images of the set on its official Facebook page. And don’t forget to vote on the Cuusoo page. Once it hits 10,000, Lego will have to evaluate it.

The Brick Show even did a video on this set.

The difficult thing with these pop culture Lego sets is generally the rights issue. For example, a few weeks back we posted a very cool Jurassic Park set but, Lego couldn’t get the rights, so the set was not approved. There is a lot of Goonies merch out there so someone is profiting off the film. Hopefully, Lego can get in touch. What do you think of these sets?

Film: Great Job, Internet!: Here's your first look at Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in Dumb And Dumber To

by Sean O'Neal

Continuing a viral promotion that began with Jeff Daniels hilariously bumbling his way into winning an Emmy for The Newsroom, Jim Carrey tweeted the above first look at the upcoming Dumb And Dumber To—the sequel in which it is that idiot Time who will make fools of us all. Carrey posted the photo as a bit of dual self-promotion, advertising not only the film but also his new children’s book, How Roland Rolls (to which the answer is, presumably, “away from vaccinations”), with both Daniels and the movie’s official feed responding in kind.

As we’ve learned in recent weeks, Dumb And Dumber To will feature Kathleen Turner as the mentioned but not yet introduced Fraida Felcher, “the legendary hose-hound from Cranston” who slept with both Harry and Lloyd’s characters, and who is likely the mother to that long-lost child they’re now seeking some 20 ...

TV: Great Job, Internet!: Stephen Merchant, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Jimmy Fallon had a lip sync-off last night, and everyone should really watch it

by Marah Eakin

Last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Merchant challenged Fallon and fellow guest Joseph Gordon-Levitt to a lip sync-off. The results, well, they were outstanding. Each singer performed a minute snippet of two songs of their choosing, with Merchant turning in a jovial, dancey “Single Ladies” and Gordon-Levitt absolutely destroying the intricate “Super Bass.” Bonus points to all three dudes for really committing to the game, with over the top body movements, hamming for the camera, and personal interaction.

Merchant apparently created the game with The Office’s John Krasinski and his wife, Emily Blunt. Check out footage of Krasinski destroying Fallon on a previous episode of Late Night below.
