What if lovable cartoon characters like Ariel and Dora the Explorer transformed and became absolute badasses? Well, for one thing, it would be awesome. We’ve seen some of DeviantArt user Tohad’s “Badass” series before when he added some blood and gore to characters like Barbie, and he’s since continued the series to include new and once precious subjects. Though the Ariel-anglerfish monster pictured above is my favorite, I also love his takes on Dora and the Powerpuff Girls!

I’m such a sucker for these clips of outmoded technology making music. In the first video by MIDIDesaster we listen as Eye of the Tiger by Survivor is played on a dot matrix printer. In the second video by Gigawipf, a box of hard drives plays ‘Tainted Love’ by Soft Cell. Gigawipf has dozens of other songs recorded with hard drives you can listen to here, and if you liked these you should also check out Polybius, and still my all-time favorite House of the Rising Sun which I managed to turn into a ringtone because I’m like that. En mis devenires musicales al final del día y gracias principalmente a los “relacionados” de Youtube, uno puede encontrarse con alguna sorpresa interesante. Artistas que no consiguen triunfar masivamente fuera de su país o ciudad pero que poseen un talento fuera de lo común. Este es el caso de un buen muchacho llamado Zach Deputy, de los Deputy de toda la vida, al que hemos descubierto con este tema perteneciente a un certamen llamado “Jam in the Van“. Se trata de una autocaravana que recorre varios puntos de norteamerica y organiza conciertos dentro. Y de pronto… bueno vean el vídeo, creo que no se arrepentirán.

Artist Dave Pollot has has a love for pop culture and thrift shopping, so he’s combined both of those and turned them into art.

Pollot picks up paintings from thrift shops and paints in pop culture references and then offers prints of those paintings for sale.

His paintings feature references from LEGO to Star Wars and have names like “Fall of the Empire”, “On A Bender II”, and “Intelligent Design”.

New York-based sandcastle artist Calvin Seibert (previously) just returned from a 10-day trip to Hawaii where he completed a number of his abstract, geometric sandcastles. For the past 30 years Seibert has worked as a sculptor’s assistant and puts some of his acquired skills in construction and basic carpentry to use while executing these perfect, angular sand structures. In Japan, there's a dish called "omurice" (オムライス). It's a type of omelette that is filled with rice. Kids, in particular, love it. There's a way to make this tasty meal cuter: add animal characters.

This is cute. I think this is cute. This is actually something that I could probably post in one of my daughters’ rooms, and both they and the wife would appreciate it.

Besides a copy of my Mr. Masters mini-poster hanging in my oldest’s room, I don’t think any artwork I have ever created has been on display anywhere in the house besides my office. And for the record, my oldest swiped one of those mini-posters and hung it up in her room on her own without me knowing. I believe this was back when she was four. Good times…
