Teens Are Abandoning Facebook, According To A New Survey (FB)
D Geat it zipperface!

Teens are totally over Facebook, a recent report from Piper Jaffray states, and the kids are flocking to Instagram and Twitter to fill their social media needs.
From fall 2014 to spring 2014 "Facebook use among teenagers aged 13 to 19 plummeted from 72 percent to 45 percent," reports The Washington Post.
So what networks are teens using? Take a look:
The problem with this survey is that it doesn't ask about Vine, or Snapchat, which is an odd omission.
Also, we've heard through the years that Facebook is toast with teens, and Facebook keeps adding users, and growing users. And, oh by the way, Facebook owns Instagram, so... it's pretty well hedged.
You can read the entire report here.

Kid tapes cop smashing car window, dragging man away after tasering him
D GWTF Indiana?
A 14-year-old boy's videotape of an Indiana cop smashing an ax though a vehicle window, shooting the passenger with a stun gun, and ripping him from the vehicle has become the subject of an excessive force lawsuit.
Monday's lawsuit [PDF] is among the most recent in a wave of police encounters gone awry that have been captured on video and resulted in legal action. The incident was filmed two weeks ago in Hammond, Indiana, and it started with a motorist being stopped and pulled over for allegedly not wearing a seatbelt.

Watch Samsung Perform 'Matrix-Style' Drop Tests On Its New Phones

People drop their smartphones. It just happens.
Luckily, phone manufacturers know this, and often perform rigorous drop tests to ensure they aren't shipping a phone that's too brittle, or too bendy.
Samsung recently released a video showing the multiple tests conducted on the Galaxy Note 4, including drops from various heights, and a "tumble test" that recreates what it's like to drop your phone down a flight of stairs.
To get a sense of the Note 4's durability over time, Samsung says it drops each phone "hundreds and hundreds" of times, including on rough granite surfaces and smooth metal floors.
But the coolest part of these drop tests is how Samsung documents each drop, using an army of cameras to capture a rotating slow-motion sequence by splicing together the photos, which is similar to how The Wachowskis created the famous "bullet time" sequences in "The Matrix."

The Note 4 seemed to hold up well to the barrage of tests, but you can see for yourself below.

Watching people play with magical Kinetic Sand is so freaking trippy

I didn't have a clue that Kinetic Sand existed. This Swedish invention is made of 98-percent sand and two-percent sorcery, so it sticks to itself and nothing else, allowing you to cut it clean. And then it feels like it moves on its own, which is creepy. Like some weird matter that is alive.

Agile Micro-Yachts: Adaptible ‘Jet Capsules’ as Water Taxis

We have already seen civilian and military, everyday and emergency applications of the Jet Capsule design, but its creators have envisioned a new array of uses, including a highly maneuverable water taxi able to fit in tight spaces, corner easily and go anywhere.

Much smaller than conventional boat taxis or luxury yachts, these sleek vehicles can take people through canals and other urban water ways in places like Venice or Amsterdam, where it is often faster (if not inevitable) to travel by water.

Prototype versions of the Jet Capsule have already been deployed in Italy to test interest as well as functionality. These are just the start, though – the modular nature of the design makes it possible for people, companies or countries to order highly-customized versions for all kinds of unique and site-specific applications.

From the creators: “the current capsule model has a built-in hydro-jet system that can be equipped with one or two engines, but the team are also working on the first electrically powered design to be presented in june 2014. all the jets come with an international sail certification and can navigate and operate in any country/region, and waves of up to 4 meters.”
