How Many D Batteries Does It Take to Cook a Turkey?

Sometimes, when the holidays roll around, things go wrong and you need to get creative. How creative? Well, that's up to your family and their own zany ways.
German court says Wikimedia is liable for article contents after they're published
The Wikimedia Foundation positions Wikipedia as hub for unfettered knowledge, but it's now obligated to police that content in the wake of a newly published German ruling. Stuttgart's Higher Regional Court has determined that the organization is liable for Wikipedia articles. While Wikimedia won't have to screen content, it will have to verify any disputed passages and remove them if they're known to be false. The court isn't telling Wikimedia how to handle this verification, although the legal presumption of innocence will still apply. We're not expecting a chilling effect on Wikipedia given that takedowns will only be necessary in a handful of circumstances. However, it gives Wikimedia's moderators an extra level of responsibility -- they'll now have to pull some content quickly to minimize the chances of lawsuits.

VOTD: President Obama Learns Mo-Cap From ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2′ Director
Fatbobpimpin himself out for money

A current U.S. President on a motion capture stage. That’s not something you see every day. But it happened Tuesday when President Barack Obama visited DreamWorks Animation to talk to the company (which is headed by major Obama contributor and fundraiser Jeffrey Katzenberg). The President called the entertainment industry “one of the bright spots of our economy” and got a tour of the facility.
One of the stops was the motion capture stage where How to Train Your Dragon 2 director Dean DeBlois explained and demonstrated the technique for the President. And, as a bonus, there’s some new footage from the 2014 sequel. Check out the video below.
Thanks to Cartoon Brew for this great video.
Another stop of Obama’s tour featured Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) and Steve Martin, who assumedly provide voices on an upcoming DreamWorks film, and the President got an animated surprise.
Read more about the President’s visit to DreamWorks over at the Los Angeles Times.

Nerd shit

which is fun,

... most of the time I use it on the home theater machine, sitting under the tv in a somewhat self-absorbed case

Where it connects to a server hiding under the Liquor-Ironing-Board:

Where is serves media with

that it transcodes media grabified with either

which tell this to go snarfle mah medias

Which was fun. But it sat there doing nothing for like 80% of the day, so I decided to set up a

But that still didn't put much of a dent in it's processing load..
and I still had heaps of drive space..
..and I was getting bored, so I set up a CMS for no real reason...
while I try and find out what to do with some surprise 'theoretical' wealth from some math i bought a year ago..
and i resist the urge to buy a

because although I know it'll probably cost more in electricity than it could mine, it'd be fun to get it running properly..

but first, just a little bit more..

OCZ declares bankruptcy, may sell its assets to Toshiba
OCZ dropped off the radar shortly into 2013 as it struggled to correct dodgy accounting and stem ongoing losses. Unfortunately, it couldn't turn things around quickly enough -- the one-time legend in memory technology has declared bankruptcy. That isn't necessarily the end of the story, though. Toshiba has offered to buy all of OCZ's assets as long as the ailing company maintains its value. The bankruptcy represents a sad (potential) end for a firm that was once synonymous with speedy RAM and SSDs, but there's a good chance that its work will live on in future products.
