Every Star Wars Fan Needs to See This Incredible Animated Short

It's easy to be underwhelmed by fan projects these days because the bar is so high already, but every once in a while someone comes along and pushes that bar up a few rungs. Paul Johnson has done that with "TIE Fighter," an impeccably-animated short film that centers on the titular starfighters (and their pilots) in an epic dogfight on the scale of the Battle of Endor. Though Johnson has released snippets of it over the last four years(!), this is the first time we've been able to see the whole thing. All of it, from the music to the editing to the swirling clouds of missile smoke, evokes classic 80s anime -- and yet it's still all unmistakably Star Wars.

I don't have any jokes or jabs or anything cynical at all to say about this. It's genuinely impressive and obviously done by someone with real passion and true talent. All I want now is about 83 more minutes of this for a full feature film.

But for now, at least we have the rad movie poster.

Chris Evans Visited a Children's Hospital Dressed As Captain America

As you might remember, Chris Evans and Chris Pratt (basically all of Marvel's Handsome Chrises except Hemsworth) placed a bet for the Super Bowl - with Pratt gunning for the Seattle Seahawks, and Evans for the New England Patriots. The stakes were simple: the loser would have to dress up as their iconic Marvel hero's costume and visit sick kids at a children's hospital of the winner's home city.

Of course, the Patriots (and Evans) trounced the Seahawks - but because these two Chrises are good folks, they decided that EACH would pay up and get all dressed up to visit sick kids. Chris Pratt visited Christopher's Haven children's hospital in Boston as Star-Lord, and it was pretty stellar. But now it was Evans' turn - and of course, he did his Captain America best, showing up to Seattle Children's in his (Avengers-style) Captain America outfit.

The LEGO Movie's Batman Is Jealous Now That Emmet Has Become Star-Lord

by Lauren Davis

LEGO Batman was always pretty secure in the fact that he was much cooler and darker than everyone else in The LEGO Movie, especially Emmet. But when Emmet turns into another character played by Chris Pratt—Guardians of the Galaxy's Star-Lord—Batman finally feels a twinge of jealousy.

by Geeks are Sexy

Thank you Doctor, you might love humanity a little more than what most see in you now that you’ve regenerated once again.

From Ross Goodall:

A lovely message from Peter Capaldi to my 9 year old autistic son. This arrived just before Thomas’ nanny’s funeral and helped him to deal with his grief in a profound way. Thank you Peter so much.

by Geeks are Sexy

A few days ago, James Gunn posted a story he got sent from a fan whose autistic young brother was overjoyed when he realized that Drax the Destroyer was just like him: “He’s like me! He can’t do metaphors!”

Warning: Somehow, something got stuck in my eye after looking at this picture. It might do the same to you!
