Just Room Enough Island is part of the Thousand Islands in the St. Lawrence river. It is the smallest of the 1,864 islands in the famous archipelago shared by the cities of Ontario and New York. Just Room Enough Island counts as a legitimate part of the Thousand Islands because it satisfies these state-given criteria: 1) Above water level year round; 2) Have an area greater than 1 square foot (0.093 m2); and 3) Support at least one living tree.
The little boy asked Jay if he could drop him off at school so the other kids won’t think he is a liar. Jay went along with it and impressed his classmates.

They make up a scant 1% to 3% of the population. There isn’t much data on these short sleepers, in part because they’re hard to find; they don’t typically seek treatment, since they don’t think of their sleep habits as unusual or disordered.
What the few researchers studying the phenomenon have figured out to date is that naturally short sleepers routinely get six hours or less a night and function well, without being tired. They tend to be upbeat, optimistic and outgoing. They are high-energy multitaskers. Sometimes short sleeping begins in childhood and runs in families
Pembroke Welsh Corgis are famed for being the preferred breed of Queen Elizabeth II, who has owned more than 30 during her reign. These dogs have been favored by British royalty for more than seventy years.
In 2007, Queen Elizabeth II had five corgis: Monty, Emma, Linnet, Willow and Holly; five cocker spaniels : Bisto, Oxo, Flash, Spick, and Span; and four dorgis (dachshund-corgi crossbreeds): Cider, Berry, Vulcan and Candy. Monty, Willow and Holly appeared in the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony when James Bond (portrayed by Daniel Craig) arrived at Buckingham Palace to escort the Queen to the event.
La plataforma Lens Culture ha dado a conocer los resultados de su concurso anual dedicado a los retratos, el LensCulture Portrait Awards 2021. Un certamen en el que se ha destacado 38 trabajos que "representan una maravillosa variedad de estilos y enfoques del arte de la fotografía de retrato".
Conscientes de que "el retrato es un medio poderoso" y popular universalmente, el concurso quiere poner de manifiesto la importancia de los matices, los sentimientos y emociones y las sutiles conexiones que se pueden crear entre el sujeto retratado y el espectador, a través de la cámara de un fotógrafo.
Como en ediciones anteriores, el certamen se divide en dos grandes apartados: ‘Series’ y ‘Single Images’, categorías donde se evalúan conjuntos de fotos e imágenes individuales (respectivamente). De ambas se elige a tres ganadores a los que se suman siete ‘Jurors´ picks’, distinción especial que cada uno de los miembros del jurado otorga de manera personal a un fotógrafo, y unos cuantos finalistas hasta sumar los 38 trabajos antes mencionados.
Pues bien, este año el ganador en categoría ‘Series’ ha sido el israelí Oded Wagenstein con 'Transparent Curtains: Aging through the Eyes of Gay Elders', una serie sobre la vejez de personas homosexuales. Por su parte, la ganadora en ‘Single Images’ es la británica Lauren Forster por 'Self-portrait with Dad during Lockdown', un autorretrato junto a su padre realizado durante el confinamiento.
Curiosamente, las tres ganadoras de esta categoría de imágenes únicas han sido mujeres que se decantaron por el autorretrato. Lamentablemente, lo que no vamos a encontrar en los elegidos es a ningún español, ya que España no está en la lista de los 19 países (de los cinco continentes) que se han llevado alguna distinción.
En cualquier caso, se trata de algunos de los mejores retratos del año pasado que merece la pena ver. Por eso, como siempre, os dejamos con algunas de las fotos ganadoras, y os remitimos a su página web para ver muchos más interesantes retratos.
