Every Arrow Season 8 Episode Will Be 'An Event' Leading Up to Crisis
Arrow fans can expect a much different approach to the show's eighth and final season. According to star Stephen Amell, each and every episode will serve as "an event" as the show ties up loose ends and paves the way for the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.
Amell teased this drastically different approach while talking to reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
"I think that the show, as people have understood it and its structure I think it ended in our Season 7 finale," said Amell. "This year is fundamentally different. The episodes are events. And, to me, the show, as we constructed it, ended when Emily
left."
As Amell describes it, each episode is intended to wrap up a specific element of Arrow's mythology leading up to Crisis and the series finale. "Every episode this year feels like we’re trying to try to put a button on a certain part of the show. And I’ve got a chance to work with actors and characters thus far that I haven’t had a chance to work with in a bunch of years."

Marvel's Runaways and Cloak and Dagger crossover episode is finally happening
The rumors are finally coming true!
After teasing a potential crossover between Marvel’s Runaways and Cloak and Dagger for years, Marvel confirmed that a crossover episode is indeed happening this season. The stars of Freeform’s Cloak and Dagger series, Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph, will appear on an episode of Hulu series Marvel’s Runaways when season 3 premieres later this year.
The casts of both shows announced the exciting news early Thursday morning in a video shared on social media. “This season we’re going to be facing some of our toughest challenges ever,” Virginia Gardner teases sitting with her Marvel’s Runaways cast on set.
“And we need some help,” Ariela Barer adds before the camera pans over to reveal Cloak and Dagger‘s Holt and Joseph sitting next to them.
“Road trip to Los Angeles!” Joseph says.

While details of how the Cloak and Dagger heroes will cross paths with the young Runaways heroes are being kept under wraps, since Tandy and Tyrone left New Orleans to lend their powerful help to other parts of the country it’s safe to assume their talents will take them to Los Angeles where they’ll be recruited to help the Runaways find and save their captured friends.
All 10 episodes (including the Cloak and Dagger crossover) of Marvel’s Runaways season 3 will premiere Dec. 13 on Hulu.

Tom Hiddleston is ready to make more mischief as Loki.
Speaking with EW recently about his Broadway debut in Betrayal, Hiddleston revealed that his work on his Marvel character’s forthcoming Disney+ series will begin at the top of next year, and explained why he’s excited to return to the character once again for this new project.
“It’s very, very exciting because in many ways it’s the character you know, but in a context you’ve never seen him in before. And if I say any more, I’m gonna say too much,” he said. “So that’s what’s so thrilling — there’s so much to explore that I haven’t yet explored. That’s very exciting.”
At San Diego Comic-Con last month, Hiddleston appeared on stage in Hall H to reveal that Loki will follow an Avengers-era version of the character (which tracks with how Asgard’s god of mischief made his exit during the foiled time heist in Avengers: Endgame).
“Just about the last thing that happened to him was he got Hulk-smashed. So there’s a lot of psychological evolution that is still yet to happen,” he said at the Marvel Comic-Con panel. “ has generally shown me what his plans are. I can’t tell you any of them, but it is one of the most exciting creative opportunities I think I’ve ever come across. This is new territory, a new world, new challenges, and I cannot wait to get started.”
Loki will arrives on Disney+ in spring 2021. Hiddleston’s Broadway run in Betrayal begins previews Aug. 14, ahead of a Sept. 5 opening.

Huge news for Stephen King‘s upcoming limited series version of The Stand.
CBS All Access revealed Thursday that four key roles have been cast, plus King is writing new material for the finale of the 10-episode series that will go beyond the story in his apocalyptic 1978 novel.
First the casting, some of which confirms previous reports of actors who were in talks for the roles:
James Marsden (Westworld) will portray Stu Redman, “an ordinary working-class factory man in an extraordinary situation with a damaged quality to him that belies his exterior.”
Amber Heard (Aquaman) will play Nadine Cross, “a deeply conflicted woman who feels the consequences of her actions, but is still compelled by her allegiance to Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.”
Odessa Young (A Million Little Pieces) will play Frannie Goldsmith, “a pregnant young woman navigating a strange new world, who also has the foresight to recognize that there is evil lurking beyond the Dark Man.”
Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) will portray Nick Andros, “a young deaf and mute man who finds himself in a position of authority when the unthinkable happens. He has a habit of risking his own well-being for the safety of others.”
But perhaps the biggest news for King-philes is that the author himself will pen the show’s finale, and it will include “a new coda that won’t be found in the book” that will reveal more about what happened to the survivors. (Presumably, they mean books, as The Stand was originally released in one form and then was re-released an expanded version with 500 additional pages).
The Stand tells the story of a plague that wipes out 99 percent of the population with the survivors embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The novel was previously adapted into a well-regarded ABC miniseries in 1994. There’s no premiere date for the new series yet.

Afton Williamson is not coming back to ABC’s The Rookie, and she says it’s because of bullying, racial discrimination, and the lack of response by the production team.
On Sunday, Williamson shared a post on Instagram with a photograph of a drawing of her character, TO Talia Bishop, and a lengthy caption detailing her reasons for not returning to ABC’s The Rookie for a second season.
“I will not be returning for Season 2 of The Rookie,” she wrote. “I owe it to you my amazing fans to share the Truth. Throughout the filming of the pilot, I experienced Racial Discrimination/Racially Charged inappropriate comments from the hair department and bullying from Executive Producers. During the Season, it continued along with Sexual Harassment from a recurring guest star and the racist commentary & bullying from the Hair Dept. escalated into sexual assault at our wrap party.”

“The allegations involve a production from Entertainment One. In late June, eOne made us aware and informed us that they launched an investigation that is ongoing. The safety of working environments is a top priority for us, and we take this matter very seriously,” ABC Studios said in response to Williamson’s allegations.
“We take claims of this nature very seriously. We have initiated an independent investigation which is ongoing and as such, it would not be appropriate to comment at this time,” eOne added in a separate comment.
On July 26, TVLine exclusively reported the actress would not be returning to the ABC cop show for its sophomore season. At the time, the split was reported to be “amicable.” But this social media post from Williamson alleges a very different story.
In the post, Williamson also notes that she reported the sexual harassment to the showrunner/EP (the show was created and overseen by Alexi Hawley). Williamson alleges the complaint remained “undocumented” and says it was “not reported to HR as promised.”
She continues, “HR protocol was never adhered to following the above reports given by me to my Showrunner/EP and an investigation was never issued for any of my claims. The only time I was asked to participate in an investigation was after a meeting I called in June following our Season 2 announcement. This meeting included the Showrunner and two other producers as well as my agent and SAG-AFTRA Union Rep. It was clear to all present in the meeting that the Showrunner had not shared my reports with the any of the producers.”
Williamson confirms the hair department head was fired, but only after the sexual assault at the wrap party, “NOT for an entire year of outward racism/racially charged language and bullying behavior in and out of the Hair and Makeup trailer.”
She also elaborated on her allegations of sexual harassment at the hands of a guest star, citing a continued pattern of alleged inaction in response to her complaints. “After my initial report of sexual harassment, I was assured that the actor would be fired,” she wrote. “I was also asked to film with him the very next day as a courtesy to the script, even though we had not begun filming the episode yet. This actor reappeared on our call sheet at the end of the season, I was even written in scenes with him. I asked the Showrunner about this and he admitted to me that the actor had not been fired nor had he gotten HR involved.”
Williamson concluded by explaining her reasons for deciding not to return for a second season. “I was asked to return this season, and promised that ‘everything was handled.’ The investigation hadn’t even begun and Season 2 had already started filming,” she finished. “I turned it down and I walked. Now is the best time in the world to be a woman and I have a platform so it’s time to use my Voice. Strength comes from within. It comes from Above. ‘Greater is He that is within Me than he that is in the world’ 
.”
Her character, Talia Bishop, was a significant character throughout the first season of The Rookie. As title character John Nolan’s (Nathan Fillion) TO, Bishop became something of a mentor to Nolan, struggling with how his failings as a rookie might permanently hamper her dreams of being promoted to detective. Yet in spite of this, she took Nolan under her wing and became a guiding light for him throughout the season.
Her exit is certain to leave a major gap in storytelling that will need to be addressed — however, Harold Perrineau (Lost) has already been cast as a male detective poised to mentor Nolan in a new capacity.

While Eteon -- the shadowy agency out to "improve" humanity by upgrading people with machinery -- still remains a threat at the end of Hobbs & Shaw, at least their super-powered agent Brixton Lore (Idris Elba) is dead.
After defeating Brixton by finally setting aside their differences and working together -- OK, and with help from Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby) and the Hobbs brothers -- Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) save the world and part as friends. End of story, right?

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. bosses explain what those twists mean for the final season
Warning: This contains spoilers from the season 6 finale of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which aired Friday night. Read at your own risk!
The season 6 finale of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. just set up one of hell of a final season.
In the two-part season-ender, the Chronicoms invaded Earth intent on turning it into their new home-planet. Recognizing that the MCU’s favorite security organization is the only thing standing in their way, the aliens decide to use time travel to attack S.H.I.E.L.D. through history. Thankfully, Enoch (Joel Stoffer), the friendly Chronicom, arrived in time to save Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) from the Chronicoms’ initial assault on the lighthouse and offered them a way out of their predicament, which involves changing the natural course of their lives forever, natch.
While all of that was going on, the rest of the team was busy battling Sarge (Clark Gregg) and Izel (Karolina Wydra). After the incorporeal beings were destroyed, Simmons arrived in the Zephyr, which has been transformed into a time machine, and transported Daisy (Chloe Bennet), Mack (Henry Simmons), Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley), Deke (Jeff Ward), and a wounded May (Ming-Na Wen) to 1930s New York, which is where their next adventure begins. But that’s not the only twist Simmons threw at her teammates. Simmons also unveiled a new Coulson LMD, because they need an expert in S.H.I.E.L.D. history to help them fight the Chronicoms. In other words, Gregg isn’t going anywhere. (Read EW’s full recap of the finale here.)
Below, showrunners/executive producers Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, and Jeff Bell tease what this all means for the show’s seventh and final season.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What does this ending mean for the seventh and final season?
JED WHEDON: It means that we’re going to have some adventures.
MAURISSA TANCHAROEN: We hope to explore what that means.
WHEDON: It’s safe to say that we’re going back in time. Cue Huey Lewis!
When the season ends, we find them in 1930s New York. Can you tease other time periods we’ll see them visit?
WHEDON: I think we can say we’re definitely going back there and that’s where the adventure begins. Right now the Zephyr is a time machine —
TANCHAROEN: And wouldn’t it be fun to explore different time periods?
Avengers: Endgame set up some very specific time travel rules. In Endgame, time travel is more like multiverse travel and you create new timelines, as opposed to the traditional “change the past to change the present/future.” Are you guys following those rules, or are you doing your own thing?
WHEDON: Well you’re going to have to wait and see.
TANCHAROEN: These all might be things that our characters are debating.
JEFF BELL: Marvel’s not going to let us do anything they don’t want us to do.
Did you always know you wanted to end here when you started breaking the story for season 6?
BELL: The time travel aspect wasn’t because we didn’t have a at the time.
WHEDON: We knew we had a couple things we wanted to do in terms of how to come up with a new paradigm for the last season, and the Chronicoms were a nice way to do that. It was the first time we had an ongoing tag story that was unrelated to our main story setting that up so that they could come in as a left turn in the last episode and screw things up for our people. With every season, we’re trying to find a new sandbox to play in, and we think this will be a fun one.
Sarge is killed in the finale, but very soon after that we meet this Coulson LMD. Did you ever consider a Clark Gregg-less season, or did you know you needed to find a way to keep him in the mix?
BELL: We’ve always said —
TANCHAROEN: — There’s no show without Clark.
WHEDON: In introducing Sarge, we felt like we were left with a question: If you end up with Sarge being a good guy, then you end up with a watered-down version of the guy we loved, which we didn’t want. If you end up with him staying a bad guy, we felt like we just played that for a season. So, there was a lot of discussion about what do we want to do with Clark and what do we want to do with Coulson, because we didn’t want to buy back the end of season 5, which we liked. We wanted to honor that.
TANCHAROEN: And truthfully, we missed him. Just like the team misses Coulson, we missed Coulson as well.
WHEDON: So we thought for the audience and the writers and for him, it would be nice to bring him back — but, again, bringing him back as a 2.0 version. He’ll have new stuff to play and there’s new rules to his existence.
How does LMD-Coulson differ from the Coulson that we knew?
BELL: That’s a great season 7 question.
WHEDON: You’re going to have to wait until next summer!
I didn’t expect the monoliths to play such an important part in the season or even on the show overall. What attracts you to them as a storytelling device?
WHEDON: We wanted to bring back a new version of Coulson, so there are limited ways we could do that. The reason we like the monoliths, to be honest, is that they’re magical. They are extremely powerful objects that can do anything, like Infinity Stones would be.
BELL: They have clear rules and they’re easy to understand, and visually, they look cool.
WHEDON: For us, it was in our mythology and it was a way of combining those three things — creating something backwards in space and time was a way to do it. It served a lot of purposes in that way. Also them coming from — and her vibe being this Incan temple, swords, monoliths — it fit with her tone.
TANCHAROEN: It gave us a reason for Sarge within our own mythology.
When you guys first introduced them way back when, did you ever expect them to remain such a part of the show?
WHEDON: No, truthfully. we introduced the aircraft carrier, the Iliad, we said it had something very important down in the cargo hold. This HYDRA thing. We had to figure out that was, and I think it was Jeff Bell’s pitch that it was a rock that turns to liquid. Then, it just sort of grew from there. That’s actually one of the fun things about TV and having a show that’s on for this long, is that you plant a seed and here you are six years later —
BELL: And it grows into all kinds of cool stuff.
One of my favorite moments in the finale is when Deke goes off on his grandparents about not being taken seriously or even liked and then teleports into the action. Can you talk about why you wanted to give him that beat?
WHEDON: Deke’s a fun character for us in that he started as this survivor in an apocalyptic environment. When he got dropped back in our world, he was a blank slate. We saw this year what that turned into, how he used it to his advantage. That was one of the things we always talk about: a person’s reason for doing something and that he’s not just this wacky egomaniacal CEO-type. There is a reason he sought that out and he went to do that. It’s a misinterpretation of what people want with him. It’s important for us to get to the heart of Deke because he’s been so funny and so ridiculous.
BELL: For a guy who never really had family and tries to fit in and feels ultimately rejected by the very people who are his grandparents, it felt like a great motive for him to do something stupid and heroic, and doing it out of pain as opposed to, “I’m a great guy and I’m going to do it.” What we love about Deke is there’s a lot of humor and there’s a lot of pain, and the pathos of that, I think, makes him a really compelling character.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return for its final season in 2020.

Marvel's Runaways and Marvel's Cloak and Dagger will get a crossover episode during the former's third season later this year.
All 10 episodes of Runaways Season 3 will be released December 13 on Hulu. Details on the crossover have not been revealed, though more information will be released closer to Season 3, according to Marvel.

Cloak and Dagger executive producer Joe Pokaski previously shared his excitement for a potential crossover with IGN. Martin Scorsese's Netflix Crime Epic The Irishman Gets Thrilling First Trailer
The first trailer for The Irishman is here. The highly-anticipated crime thriller is the latest movie from legendary director Martin Scorsese, and stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci. It's been produced by Netflix and is set to hit the service in the fall.
The Irishman tells the real-life story of Frank Sheeran, a union man who also allegedly worked as a contract killer. De Niro plays Sheeran, with Pacino as notorious union boss Jimmy Hoffa and Pesci as mobster Russell Bufalino. It looks like another epic, decade-spanning crime saga from Scorsese--and let's face it, no one does it better the director of Goodfellas and Casino. Check the trailer out below.
The Irishman also stars Ray Romano, Anna Paquin, Bobby Cannavale, Harvey Keitel, and Stephen Graham. It's penned by by Steven Zaillian, who also wrote Schindler's List, American Gangster, and David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
One of the most notable aspects of The Irishman is that it will make extensive use of CG to "de-age" De Niro, Pacino, and Pesci for scenes in which their characters are much younger. The trailer shows relatively little of this, but the amount of VFX work meant that the movie has involved nearly two years of post-production. According to Deadline, the final budget is around $200 million, making it the most expensive movie of Scorsese's career.
Although The Irishman does not yet have a confirmed release date, it will hit Netflix in the fall. It is also set to have a limited theatrical run and will premiere at the New York Film Festival on September 27.

Netflix orders more Lucifer episodes for final season
Netflix is giving Lucifer a helluva send-off.
The streaming service announced Friday that it’s extending its final season order for the supernatural crime drama.
Instead of ending the show with merely 10 episodes as previously announced, Lucifer will conclude with 16 episodes.
Granted, that’s still not as big as the show’s final season on Fox, which had 26 episodes, but it’s better than what we thought we were getting.
Fox axed Lucifer last year after three seasons. A month later, Netflix picked up the show for a fourth season of 10 episodes (which premiered in May), and then last month renewed the show for a fifth and final season.
The show follows the charming and handsome Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), and LAPD detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) as they solve crimes.
