Como método para viajar por mundos de ficción, las cajas de cartón no son mala solución; me recordó un poco a la máquina de Primer.

¿Hartos del “Gangnam Style”? Afortunadamente, el Internet está lleno de iniciativas que pueden corregir los errores de la vida. Para eso llegaron las gemelas australianas de ascendencia coreana Janice y Sonia, conocidas en YouTube como Jayesslee, para interpretar un cover de la canción con un toque de elegancia y verdadero talento. Ellas dicen que esta canción original de Psy es “muy 2012″ pero quisieron iniciar este 2013 proponiendo una nueva dirección muy Tegan and Sara a la canción. ¿Qué opinan ustedes?

Muy bien condensada esta versión del clásico de los 80 realizado por la gente de 14AStudio. Me recordó a las películas reinterpretadas por conejos en 30 segundos de Angry Alien, pero con algo más de más calma.

Ir cada día al trabajo será mejor que una montaña rusa: Este vídeo que muestra un simulación de cómo sería un cruce de dos superautopistas de seis carriles en cada sentido en un mundo de coches autónomos guiados por computadora perfectamente capaces de maniobrar sin colisionar. Atención sobre todo a los que se detienen para hacer un «giro a la izquierda» en pleno cruce, una de las maniobras más delicadas.

Este tipo de conducción autónoma aparentemente tan arriesgada es en realidad muy segura: se consigue mediante coordinación coche-a-coche o bien gracias a un agente centralizado situado en los cruces más complicados.

These chairs are something you do not get to see every day. Collection titled “The Hidden Chairs” by French design studio Ibride provides this beautiful, intriguing animated optical illusion you see on your right. It blew my mind first time I saw it! All of the chairs from mentioned collection look irregular and warped, but when you see them from a specific angle, their shape will remind you of the classic design.

When you see each of the chairs from a specific angle, you might easily mistake the right way to sit on them. Gallery below depicts this perfectly! The Hidden Chairs line includes three beech plywood chairs that follow three historical designs: “The Hidden Shaker”, “The Hidden Terence” and finally “The Hidden Wagner”.

Paris-based design trio Ibride comprises graphic designer Rachel Convers, designer Benoît Convers and editor Carine Jannin. The furniture was shown at Maison&Objet design fair in Paris, which finished last week. Let’s see if they manage to trick you as well!

The Hidden Shaker is inspired by the austere furniture of the Shaker religious movement.

The Hidden Wagner is inspired by the furniture of nineteenth-century Viennese architect Otto Wagner

The Hidden Terence references a typical Ming dynasty Chinese armchair with a horseshoe-shaped back.

One of my favorite films of 2012. So happy to see Walt Disney Animation Studios put this out there on YouTube for everyone to see.

Estaba trasteando por la web de la gente que fabrica los enchufes inteligentes MeterPlug cuando me encontré con otro invento suyo que también ha sido financiado mediante crowdfunding.

Se trata de los Stick-n-find, una especie de fichas que se pueden adherir a esas cosas que siempre pierdes para luego poderlas localizar desde el móvil, siempre que no pierdas también el móvil, claro.

Para eso se usa una aplicación disponible para iOS y Android 4.1 o superior que te cuenta a qué distancia está cada una de las fichas que están en rango, cuando una de ellas sale de este, o cuando vuelve a entrar.

Las fichas, por su parte, son capaces de emitir un sonido cuando se les indica desde la aplicación, así como de encender un LED; la batería, con una duración estimada de un año, es reemplazable por el usuario.

Te puedes comprar un pack de tres a partir de 60 dólares, lo que quizás sea un poco caro, pero también es cuestión de valorar el tiempo que pierdes y los disgustos que te pegas cuando pierdes las llaves y cosas así.

I love Mike Mitchell SO MUCH; discovering his work has been a joy, but not nearly as nice as discovering him as a human being. He’s made me reconsider how popular culture can inform art and image-making in a way that transcends ideas of fanart or appropriation. ANYway he has a new series of prints out. More info here.
