The VFX in Game of Thrones is consistently great for a TV show , with some scenes rivaling the very best of any visual medium. And this past season’s battle (or massacre) at Hardhome between the White Walkers and wights vs The Night’s Watch and the wildlings might very well be the best we’ve seen. At the very least, it’s the most visually impressive battle scene the series has given us given all the moving parts. Here’s how they made it.

A selection of several prints that artist Mike Mitchell will be releasing at San Diego Comic Con 2015, which starts Thursday July 9th and goes through Sunday, July 12th. Mike will be set up in the Nucleus Booth #2643. There will be a very limited amount of “Boycott” bags/shirts available for those lucky enough to grab one. You can find updates on Mike’s Instagram.
Hi-Fructose's own Annie Owens just released a new limited edition print of her "Yee Naaldlooshi (Skinwalker)" by Pressure Printing. At their blog, Pressure Printing writes, "When we saw Annie’s Skinwalker watercolor on Instagram almost a year ago, we were entranced. And we weren’t alone – when we re-grammed it it garnered more likes than anything we’d posted before, and still has more likes than anything we’ve posted since. Small wonder: the Navajo witch who can transform into any animal she chooses is a being both evil and mysterious, and Annie’s painting embodies that magic."

Godspeed You! Black Emperor released their latest LP, Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress, back in March, but have yet to tour the States behind the record. That’ll change this September when the band strikes out for a 22-stop tour this September. The post-rock icons will cover a fair amount of North American territory, including a stop at Raleigh’s Hopscotch Festival, before jumping across the pond for some UK dates. The rise of the gluten-free fad has grown year on year, and with over a third of adult Americans trying to cut the stuff out of their diets, the gluten-free food industry has boomed.
The project “Imaginarium Of Tears” is a series of micrographs, that shows the hidden beauty behind a tear. Tears are often seen as a weakness and therefore not always accepted in our daily life.
However, a tear can also be a beautiful thing. By capturing these tears I want to show you, that your “weakness” can also result in something very beautiful.

Between June 22nd and June 27th artists from around the world convened in Long Beach, California for POW! WOW! LONG BEACH! A week long street art festival that is a growing part of the original POW! WOW! HAWAII! The festivals engage with the broader community through the process of art, specifically street art and large scale murals.
Throughout the week of artistic creation Pow! Wow! Long Beach! also hosted a film premier for Nychos’s “The Deepest Depths of the Burrow,” a documentary about the artist and his travels.
At the Long Beach Museum of Art, Pow Wow Hawaii and Thinkspace Gallery co-curated “Vitality & Verve: Transforming the Urban Landscape” a group show that broke all attendance records ever at the museum (Supersonic’s Coverage).
Pow Wow Long Beach artists (above, in order) Tristan Eaton, Jeff McMillan, James Jean, Cryptik and Madsteez & Hueman plus others (after the jump) Push, Benji Escobar, Bumblebee, Fafi, Low Bros and Jeff Soto all created gorgeous murals around the city. Locations for these can be found on Pow Wow Long Beach’s website.
