came back wrong but its from the perspective of the person who came back

Seeing pictures of yourself -the real you, the one people miss, the one people look for in your eyes- is like staring into a foggy mirror. The parts are there, you think, but the details are lost.

Someone who loves you makes you breakfast. You thank him and eat it despite the fact the eggs are too crisp on the sides and missing much needed salt. He says its how you like it, but that just makes your frustrations boil.

How I used to like it, you want to say, how I used to be.

You grip your butter knife harder and light catches the polished metal. The glimpse you catch of yourself in the cutlery looks nothing like the photo on the mantle.

you can’t leave this in the tags

[ID: Tumblr tags that have been for formatting. They read: “you never liked the eggs that way, you loved the person who made them. You ate them that way dozens of times because they could never get it right. that’s okay you would say, this is how I like them anyway. you carved so many little pieces of yourself out and gave them to others, you don’t recognize what you look like whole. stories.” End ID]

I need everyone to know that the ship Götheborg, the world’s largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship, answered a distress call the other day.

Imagine waiting for the coast guard or whatever to show up and instead a replica of 18th century merchant ship pulls up and tows you to the coast.

pov: you’ve been transported to the 17th century

#in the article it says that the sailboat sailors were concerned because they could not be towed quickly because of the kind of boat#so they asked Götheborg what type of ship they were and warned that they would not be able to go above a certain speed#and götheborg went ’ we are also a sailboat. 50 meters length. no worries :) ’#and the poor sailboat sailors were just like ’ That’s not possible. they have to be messing with us’ and then the ship Rolled Up (via bunjywunjy)

I’m crying. Here’s a photo of a sailor from the Götheborg watching over the little sailboat in tow:

From the story:

We repeatedly emphasized that we were aboard a small 8-meter sailboat, but the response was the same each time: “We are a 50-meter three-masted sailboat, and we offer our assistance in towing you to Paimpol.” We were perplexed by the size difference between our two boats, as we feared being towed by a boat that was too large and at too fast a speed that could damage our boat.

The arrival of the Götheborg on the scene was rapid and surprising, as we did not expect to see a merchant ship from the East India Company of the XVIII century. This moment was very strange, and we wondered if we were dreaming. Where were we? What time period was it? The Götheborg approached very close to us to throw the line and pass a large rope. The mooring went well, and our destinies were linked for very long hours, during which we shared the same radio frequency to communicate with each other.

The crew of the Götheborg showed great professionalism and kindness towards us. They adapted their speed to the size of our boat and the weather conditions. We felt accompanied by very professional sailors. Every hour, the officer on duty of the Götheborg called us to ensure everything was going well.[…]

This adventure, very real, was an incredible experience for us. We were extremely lucky to cross paths with the Götheborg by chance and especially to meet such a caring crew.

Dear commander and crew of the Götheborg, your kindness, and generosity have shown that your ship is much more than just a boat. It embodies the noblest values of the sea, and we are honored to have had the chance to cross your path and benefit from your help.

“Our destinies were linked for very long hours” is just knocking me out.

Watch a Dancer Perform a Highly Complex Underwater “Mime” Routine

Watch a Dancer Perform a Highly Complex Underwater “Mime” Routine

Underwater dancer walking upwards and posing

Photo: Screenshot from Instagram

Dancing is, by nature, an intricate discipline that requires grace and precision. As if it weren't complex enough on the ground, can you imagine executing it flawlessly underwater? This is exactly what Jaydeep Gohil, also known as Hydroman, does. Playing with the buoyancy of water, he creates elaborate underwater routines displaying his incredible skill and body control. As a result, his videos are almost hypnotic.

One of his videos, titled “The Inventor,” quickly went viral on Reddit and Instagram for the sheer display of talent it features. In it, Gohil first seems to walk up an invisible staircase before showing off some dance moves and floating at the pretend top. He then does something even more bewildering. He begins walking upwards and goes in a clockwise motion to make a full circle in the water, as if his legs were the clock hands. In the end, he simply poses as if about to take a bow.

On top of the creativity behind the choreography, bringing it to life with such perfection takes different skills. Not only does he have to control every part of his body down to the detail, such as his hands and his feet, but he also likely has to hold an exact amount of air in his lungs to only float up to a certain level.

Gohil has also recreated Michael Jackson's famous moonwalk, doing so on a submerged pool table, and also upside down below the surface. He has also addressed the challenges of dancing underwater with a funny video. He depicts his dancing self being rushed and chased away by his breathing, played by another diver. Ultimately, Gohil's craft showcases the beauty of what can be achieved when imagination and human endurance are brought together.

Woman’s Photochromic Dress Changes Color in the Sun From White to Pink

Woman’s Photochromic Dress Changes Color in the Sun From White to Pink

A color-changing dress is something that sounds like it's straight out of a fairytale…or an illusion that has the whole internet polarized. But sometimes it's also a very real dress that actually does change color. In a now-viral video posted by @izzipoopi, the fashion influencer wears a cream knit dress at the beginning, announcing, “My dress changes colour in the sun!” She then walks outside, and as she steps out of the shadows, the garment begins its colorful transformation. By the end, the dress has completely turned pink, much to the wearer's delight.

The dress in question was created by New York-based fashion brand PH5. The name of the dress is Sponde UV Reactive Reversible Maxi Dress and it's part of the brand's UV Reactive collection, which also includes color-changing skirts, shirts, and cardigans. PH5 states, “Using our innovative yarns we knit pleated & ribbed pieces that will transform in to bright pink's & blue's in the sun.”

For some users, this color-changing clothing reminds them of Hypercolor, a fashion company that was trendy in the 90s. Although those garments transformed in a similar manner, they changed due to heat, while the PH5 dress changes with UV light. Though there isn't much info about the tech, it was most likely developed in the company's knitwear mill in China. “We work hand in hand with our computer engineers and technicians to code and pattern each design,” PH5 explains. “Thanks to this advantage, we are able to be TRULY experimental and innovative. Whether it be a new stitch, a new yarn, or a new treatment, our goal is to always offer something our customers have never seen before.”

While PH5's UV Reactive collection is limited to a few models and tones for now, the creative possibilities of color-changing yarn or cloth could be endless. From a self-dying wedding dress to a white-turning shirt to keep its wearer cool, we could be in front of the next big innovation in the fashion world.

A dress has gone viral on TikTok for its photochromic qualities, changing from white to pink under the sun.

Ryan Gosling Sings About Being Ken-Zoned in New ‘Barbie’ Music Video

by Britt Hayes
Ryan Gosling as Ken in 'Barbie'

As established in the very first trailer for Barbie, Ryan Gosling’s Ken—like all the other hunky Kens—is just that: Ken. All that’s separating him from any other accessory in Barbie’s vast collection is sentience and a set of abs. This cheeky inversion of real-world gender dynamics is one of the many reasons why we can’t wait to see Barbie, Greta Gerwig’s live-action ode to the prolific doll and her (maybe not-so) perfect pink world. Another reason? The excellent soundtrack, which includes Ryan Gosling’s return to music via a ballad about his place as Ken in a world dominated by Barbie.

Warner Bros. dropped a short official music video for Gosling’s song from the Barbie soundtrack, titled “Just Ken.” In the song, a distraught Ken laments his inability to be anything more than number two as long as Barbie is in the picture. He’s both envious of Barbie’s popularity and wants to be more than just her friend. By the end, Ken gets a little empowered, declaring “I’m just Ken and I’m enough / And I’m great at doing stuff.”
