Maybe they thought the question was, “How much could Apple probably charge devotees for an iPhone?”
Meanwhile, at Apple headquarters, they’re really sad to find out they could’ve price gouged us all even more and everyone would’ve just thought it was normal. To be fair, I wouldn’t be able to guess the exact cost of a year’s worth of a phone plan either, but there’s a large window for error between “exact” and “several times too high.”
For the appropriate reaction to the $7,500 guess and the unwitting trap it springs on the next guy, see the two audience members right next to the first contestant. Their faces are priceless.

Joe Flacco is doing some nice things in Pittsburgh with less than 24 hours before the team's big playoff game.
Whether or not he's an ELITE quarterback may be up for debate, but never doubt the man's tipping skills.
Tasha Thomas, the girlfriend of John Crawford, died in a car accident on New Year’s Day.
"They did a great job at trying to save that person, but we were later told that that person did pass away at the hospital," Sgt. Creigee Coleman, from the Dayton Police Department, told the news station.

Jason Scott, Each New Boot a Miracle:
This week, we got the emulation of MS-DOS programs (mostly) working on the Internet Archive.
…
Now, em-dosbox is not perfect – far from it. It can freeze a browser, and it runs into problems of all sorts when running some of the oddball machinery that the DOS world produced between 1980 and (roughly) 2003.
But when it works, man, it just works. Clear as a bell, right as rain, a DOS window boots into a browser. If you go fullscreen, the mouse even works. (It works in not-fullscreen, but then you see both the desktop and the emulator cursors and your brain is sad.)
It’ll be a little while before the collection is really public, as there’s now the process of throwing thousands of DOS programs into the system, verifying they boot, making screenshots, and all the rest of that delightful curation the world hopes is waiting for them.
But it’s happening. It’s really happening.
As cool as the Internet Arcade has been to play with, this is going to be the real treasure-trove for a lot of people who got into computing in the 80s and 90s.
They’re not advertising it too heavily yet, but if you start clicking around the Software Library: MS-DOS, you’ll find you can fire things up in the emulator. I may have to beat Major Stryker again.

college recruiting is the weirdest form of corruption
Blakeney is joining his summer running mate Ben Simmons in Baton Rouge.
Antonio Blakeney finally tied up one of college basketball's most fascinating recruitments by committing to LSU on Friday afternoon. Blakeney, a 6'4 shooting guard, chose the Tigers over Kentucky and Missouri. Blakeney is the No. 14 player and No. 2 shooting guard in the class of 2015, according to ESPN.

LSU is, of course, a Nike school. That's not Blakeney's only connection to the Tigers, though. He played on Each 1 Team 1 this summer with Ben Simmons, the consensus No. 1 recruit in the country who is also headed to LSU. Simmons had been recruiting Blakeney since this summer. If the Tigers are able to return current sophomore big men Jordan Mickey and Jarell Martin, LSU might have its most talented team since reaching the Final Four in 2006.

firehoseLiz Prince beat
Liz Prince's new graphic memoir Tomboy is a smart and outright cute exploration of girlhood by a girl who didn’t ‘fit’ but survived to tell the tale. The book follows a young Liz from the age of four to her mid-teens. While it ends with her finding her footing in a punk rock zinester feminist world, the follow-up to that is full of gender-related struggles, including:
- Being disgruntled with the frilly, pink, and conventionally feminine
- Getting teased for wearing boys’ clothing
- The revolving door of friendships otherwise known as girlhood
- Crushes
- Having a little brother
- Being too much of a boy to be friends with girls
- Being too much of a girl to be friends with boys
Place a hold on Tomboy at LPL today!
This is the most on point review of Tomboy that I’ve read so far.

god. the more I learn about north korea, in a weird way the more I understand dystopia novels. because one of the questions that always plagues me when I read dystopias is like “how is the rest of the world? are they okay? are they in on it? are they just ignoring it? what’s going on?”
but I don’t need to ask that question
we know the answer
