Neil Armstrong’s hidden bag of Apollo 11 artifacts

Neil Armstrong’s purse: First moonwalker had hidden bag of Apollo 11 artifacts | collectSPACE.
Neil Armstrong had a secret stash of moon landing mementos.
The first man to walk on the moon kept a bag full of small parts from the lunar module “Eagle” that he and his Apollo 11 crewmate Buzz Aldrin famously piloted to a landing at Tranquility Base on July 20, 1969. The stowage bag was discovered by Armstrong’s widow after he died in 2012.
“I received an email from Carol Armstrong that she had located in one of Neil’s closets a white cloth bag filled with assorted small items that looked like they may have come from a spacecraft,” Allan Needell, the Apollo curator at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC, wrote in a blog published on Friday (Feb. 6). “Needless to say, for a curator of a collection of space artifacts, it is hard to imagine anything more exciting.”
The bag, itself flown to the moon, was referred to as the “McDivitt purse,” after the Apollo 9 astronaut whose idea it was to include aboard the spacecraft.

Creepy Headless Mannequins Attached to Drones and Flown by Office Windows to Sell Clothes to Busy Execs
firehoseour dystopian present
Brazilian clothing store Camisaria Colombo found a clever (if decidedly creepy) method for advertising menswear to busy executives who never leave the office. The company dressed up headless mannequins for Black Friday, added a price tag and flew them past high-rise windows on quadcopters. The effect is unsettling, particularly from afar.
2Pac Had Plans to Collaborate With Outkast, E-40 Before His Death
firehoseOutKast, man
2Pac is still regarded as one of the most prolific rappers of his time. He recorded hundreds of songs before his untimely death in 1996 at the young age of 25, many of which have been released posthumously. But he still had plenty of left to do.
Okayplayer published a handwritten letter in which Pac explains his desire to collaborate with some of the industry's biggest names at the time, including Outkast, E-40, Scarface and Smif-N-Wesson, and The Roots on an album called "One Nation."

The streaming service that brought us Orange is the New Black is reportedly dipping into video games for its next live action series. The Wall Street Journal reports that a series based on The Legend of Zelda series is "in the early stage of development" at Netflix, according to an unnamed "person familiar with the matter."
The Journal's source describes the show, which is reportedly still searching for writers, as a "Game of Thrones for a family audience," with a "humorous, kid-friendly tone." Nintendo is reportedly working closely with the streaming service to ensure fidelity to one of its most popular game series. Netflix and Nintendo have not officially commented on the report.
Link, Zelda, and their cohorts last graced TV screens in a 1989 animated series that ran alongside The Super Mario Bros. Super Show for a single season in 1989. Rumors of a Zelda movie have popped up occasionally since then, but they've never come to fruition.

Outcast Seriously Looks Like The Ultimate Nic Cage Movie

Nic Cage has pushed the limits of acting in the past — but with Outcast, his new movie coming out next week, he's redefining acting completely. Just watch the Shatnerian delivery of "I AM the White Ghost!" and the bizarre line-reading of "Their blood will be ON OUR BLADES!" It's just... sublime. Watch the trailer for yourself!

Les Miles is gonna eat some of that mat.
You ever notice how Les Miles doesn't so much clap as violently slam his hands together like a seal or an alien trying to imitate how humans clap after being shown a videotape? LSU All-American gymnast Lloimincia Hall did, and added some claps to her floor routine. Miles saw it and was so happy!

The floor exercise is kinda Hall's thing: She's won the SEC championship three years running, and here she is scoring a perfect 10 while performing to "Tear It Up" by Yung Wun:

Anthony Davis' team did everything to fumble the game away against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Thus, he had to take matters into his own hands. This amazing double-clutch three -- his first of the season! -- gave the New Orleans Pelicans a 116-113 victory after they made two terrible mistakes to allow the Thunder to tie it.
Those mistakes would have cost mere mortals, but not Anthony Davis. The Pelicans led by one with 17 seconds remaining and forced Kevin Durant to miss a jumper. Tyreke Evans, who had just bricked two free throws on the previous play, came down with the rebound and wanted NOTHING to do with the ball. The problem ...
... he threw the ball right to Durant. Luckily, Omer Asik was there to protect the basket and the Pelicans rebounded the ball with 2.8 seconds left. After two free throws, they held a three-point lead. All they needed to do was prevent the Thunder from getting a three off, and ...
That's Quincy Pondexter running right over Russell Westbrook instead of contesting the shot like he should have. Westbrook hit all three free throws -- his 46th, 47th and 48th points of the game -- to set up the final Davis sequence.
The shot has massive implications on the West playoff race. The Pelicans are just one game behind the Phoenix Suns — who beat the Utah Jazz 100-93 on Friday night — for eighth place in the West. The win also puts New Orleans two games ahead of the Thunder and gives them a 3-1 head-to-head advantage, so they'd have the tiebreaker if the two teams are tied.
All because of Anthony Davis' first three of the season. But maybe we shouldn't be surprised.
. @AntDavis23 has now tried 12 shots to tie or take lead in final 5 minutes of 4th/OT. He's made 11 of them! http://t.co/IJrWsdgwI0

Never forget: the crappy new Zeus Daddy origin story for Diana is remarkably similar to the origin story created for an in-universe Wonder Woman movie (that was supposed to be awful!) during the Post-Crisis period.

Needless to say, Diana’s reaction to the movie was not positive:

The sad thing is that almost every ridiculous, offensive thing in that story, all of which was intended to be viciously satirical, was actually pitched or implemented at some point in the Hollywood process or some writer pitched it for Wonder Woman.
Guys.

Pope's comments on smacking children - Irish Times
firehose'In the light of the Pope’s recent advocacy of parental corporal punishment of children (provided it does not involve face-slapping, apparently) are we to take it that the Holy See has conducted the thorough study and investigation it promised the Committee on the Rights of the Child and has decided to oppose the stated view of the committee that the corporal punishment of children should be banned? Is the Holy See now doing what it claimed not to be doing a year ago, namely actively and internationally promoting the corporal punishment of children? If it is, then Pope Francis has surely turned the clock back considerably. What faith are we to have now in the Holy See’s commitment to the Convention on the Rights of the Child? Will we hear anything on this subject from the Holy See’s new Pastoral Commission for the Protection of Minors?'
Pope's comments on smacking children Irish Times Sir, –Further to the remarks of Pope Francis on the use of corporal punishment in the home (“Pope says it's okay to smack your children”, February 6th), the Holy See is a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989). You may or may not know that Neon Genesis Evangelion takes place between July 6th, 2015 to January 1st, 2016. Here’s an exhaustive breakdown of the exact dates of events, using the times provided by the show and per character dialogue. Some noteworthy finds:
Kaworu met Shinji on Christmas Eve, and died on Christmas Day.
The median amount of time between angel attacks is 11 days.
Toji lost his left leg on Halloween.
Kaji died a day before Misato’s 30th birthday.
Shinji is “birthed” from Unit-01 a day after Asuka’s 14th birthday.
- The first half of End of Evangelion takes place on Toji’s 15th birthday, one day after Kaworu’s death.
And more!
The general skeleton for the first few months was graciously compiled here. Note that in Japan, schools are in session (half-days) on Saturdays.
