This Is How America Could Bombard Syria By Sea
So one time I went to an apple pie carnival and I fell into a ditch, filled with pumpkin pies!!! :O And I was wondering, isn't that cheating, to have pumpkin in a festival STRICTLY for apples? I need help, this plagues me every day of my life. I can't sleep. :(
WHY ARE YOU NOT MORE CONCERNED AS TO WHAT A BUNCH OF PIES WERE DOING IN A DITCH, REGARDLESS OF THEIR FLAVOR??

Homebrew 3D Portal DS is out ⊟
Aperture Science, a homebrew project adapting Valve’s Portal series for the DS, is now available to download and play with its first public release. As you’ll see in the “test chamber” footage after the break, this is a totally different beast from StillAliveDS, that awesome 2D homebrew game based on the same series.
This new release comes from Lobo and Smealum — you’ll recognize the latter name from his work on the old but impressive Minecraft DS project. The team admits that Aperture Science is “very buggy and incomplete,” but this release should be “mostly playable” and include 14 stages, plus an on-board level editor.
Wow, the DS homebrew scene has advanced quite a bit in recent years.

[priv] How far the once mighty SourceForge has fallen… | Gluster Community Website
firehose"users downloading from SourceForge now receive a special closed source installer which attempts to foist unrelated third party software onto them.
For example, when a user clicks on this:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla/files/FileZilla_Client/3.7.3/FileZilla_3.7.3_win32-setup.exe/download
They instead receive this:
http://ak.pipoffers.apnpartners.com/static/partners/dynamic/SFFZ/SFInstaller_SFFZ_filezilla_8992693_.exe
This is a “drive-by installer”, designed to catch less technical users and the unwary, to fill their computers with malware / junk ware / crime ware."

Who You'll Spot in The Graphic Novels and Comics Section

(How Not to Read features a chapter on who shops in what section of a bookstore. This excerpt, by far, is the saddest page from that chapter)
The following is a verbatim transcription of something I heard in the Graphic Novels/Comics section:
"NO, they’re not COMIC BOOKS, Mom. That’s like calling my complete set of imported Cowboy Bebop Statues “toys,” which, by the way, you do when my friends are around and it’s really embarrassing! No, they’re not action figures. Action figures have points of articulation, and statues do not. GOD! How many times do I have to tell you that? So, this is a book. This counts as a book, MOM! Why does every book have to be about what women felt like in England a million years ago? This book is by Neil Gaiman and it’s about a demigod named Dream who controls sleep and who gets trapped in the real world so the dreamworld falls apart and it’s über-referential to other myths and legends, including the original Sandman, Wesley— MOM! Are you even listening? Buy this one so I can read it and finish it and we can split some free Pizza Hut after I fill out my BOOK IT! card. Thanks. Thanks, Mom. This is a really good book. Yes. Happy Mother’s Day. What’s that? Don’t be silly, I’ll drive.”

Menswear Dog visits Stetson
We were recently invited to tour the Stetson HQ and showroom in preparation for a feature we’re working on with the brand, and decided to bring the camera along. Here are some quick snapshots of their immaculate space and Menswear Dog posing in approval. Stay tuned for more!

Attention all map lovers: Stamen Design's new Mapstack service is hard to describe but worth delving into and playing around with. Is it an app? Not really; there's nothing to download. You just go to the website and jump right in. Is it a graphics program? Sort of; the controls work a bit like Photoshop, with sliders popping up in boxes when you want to edit a layer.
It's all there for free, accessible even from a tablet: worldwide map data with tons of graphic tools and the ability to link five layers. Concoct practically any kind of map you can imagine. Like it? Click on it to save it as an image. Click again to email it or Facebook it or load it onto your tumblr site. It's pretty cool.
According to the website, the service is "part of the CityTracking project, funded by the Knight Foundation, in which Stamen is building web services and open source tools to display public data in easy-to-understand, highly visual ways." According to users who have tried it, it's a ton of fun.
