External hard drive support for Xbox One won’t be ready at launch
When the Xbox One was first revealed in May, Microsoft said that users would be able to expand the system's internal 500 GB hard drive with external USB storage. It seems that feature won't initially be available to early adopters when the console is released in November, though.
Speaking during a live podcast recorded at PAX this weekend, Xbox Community Manager Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb said that, while the external storage feature is being worked on, "my understanding is that feature will not be there at launch because the team's working on other things. It's definitely on the list; I don't know when it will come in, though."
As a practical matter, this probably won't mean much to early Xbox One owners; it will take time to fill up 500 GB, after all. Still, it's never a good sign when a company is still working to add promised features to a product that's planned for release in only a few months.

Free As In Vlambeer
By Craig Pearson on September 2nd, 2013 at 7:00 pm.

Not even being the world’s unluckiest game developers can stop the rampaging juggernaut that is Vlambeer. Today is the developer’s third birthday, and because it looked like they’d never make it this far, they’re in the mood to celebrate. Over on their blog, they’re giving away two free games. The previously only partly released Gun Godz is now available for everyone, and the prototype that’s forming the basis for their upcoming Wasteland Kings is free for all as well. Luftrausers was there, but the keys have already been nabbed. You should’ve been quicker.
Gun Godz, a strange, hip-hop infused Wolfenstein was initially only released to Kickstarter backers of Venus Patrol. It’s not a big game, so the video below shows quite a lot of it. I’d have a peek and then load it up. It’s good.
Wasteland Kings is a roguelike about mutants fighting through a post-apocalyptic wasteland, collecting guns and growing new limbs as they go. It was previously only available as part of the Mojam 2 Bundle, but with that now defunct, you can get it from their site for naught.
What can you do if you want to support them? They have keys for the official soundtrack, but you can also buy it if it’s already gone. And there’s an upcoming artbook that you can register your interest for. You don’t need to buy it, but I expect it will be lovely.
Bicycle-Powered Tree House Elevator
Ethan Schlussler recently built a bicycle-powered elevator to access a 30-foot-high tree house he is building in Northern Idaho. To ascend, Schlussler sits on the bicycle and simply pedals himself aloft—ropes, pulleys, and a counterweight do most of the heavy lifting. Descent involves letting the pedals spin freely and using the bike brakes and the counterweight to control speed.

We’ve got what I feel obliged to call a “multi-strand denim story” going on with one of our more audacious bespoke clients this season, starting with this beautiful 100% cotton jacquard pin dot suit with patch pockets and white mother of pearl buttons, and buggy-lining with bound internal seams; the ultimate in dot dash.

Keiji Inafune's Mighty No. 9 hits Kickstarter goal
The Mighty No. 9 is scheduled to launch for PC sometime in the spring of 2015 via "Steam and DRM-free digital distribution methods." Stretch goals include Mac/Linux versions at $1.35 million and the highest stretch at this time is current-gen console ports at $2.5 million. If the momentum keeps up, Inafune's going to be scrambling to come up with further goals by week's end.

The Perfect…Pair of Socks
firehosevia multitasksuicide
no satan socks only corgi socks
“You choose your friends by their character and your socks by their colour,” said Gary Oldman, which proves that he knows just as much, if not more, about hosiery than he does about acting. And this season’s TE socks are perfectly primed to add characterful colour to that all-important junction between foot and calf (if it’s a given that people in general, and men in particular, check out each other’s shoes on first meeting, then the accompanying sock will follow hot on their heels) – we’ve got stripes and zigzags in an array of turquoises and reds, with contrast panels at their various extremities; not so much colour-blocking as colour sock-it-to-me-ing.
But possibly my pick of the bunch this season is this comparatively subdued pair in an empyrean shade of turquoise blue, with hot pink heels and toes and dark grey tips. They’ll add lightening lustre to navy suits and indigo denims, while giving your brogues a boost or your monkstraps some motivation. Like all our season’s socks, they’re a sumptuous and durable wool/cotton mix, and they’re made in West Wales by Corgi, a family-owned business with a royal warrant from Prince Charles, who’ve been producing the finest hosiery since 1892. And if all that isn’t characterful enough to make these socks your NBFs, I don’t know what is.

Girl: Because the companies who make these try to trick the girls into buying the pink stuff instead of stuff boys want to buy. [x]that awkward moment when a child understands the harm of forcing gender roles better than most grown male politicians.

I’m surprised that I haven’t reblogged this, to be honest.
I love that last gif. She looks so frustrated. Like “Um, hello, obviously girls and boys can like anything why doesn’t anybody get that???”
