This came from one of LG's original Android phones (I forget which one exactly). I've been using it every morning for a couple years, and have realized it is the best alarm in the world.

On a good morning, it's cheerful and makes me smile while I reach over to shut things down. On a bad (and very possibly hungover) morning, it makes me want to kick things and I can't get up fast enough to shut it off. Either way gets me out of bed — and that's what it was designed to do. If you've been lamenting the closure of RSS reading app The Old Reader, its founders have some surprising news for you. After cutting new user registrations and announcing it would cease development of the web app just three days ago, The Old Reader team updated users with news that they have "received a number of proposals" to resurrect the service, later adding they were confident that it would reopen, but with "a proper team running it."

The team's updates suggest the company has been able to find funding or will end up handing over development to another party. Both Digg and Feedly moved fast to develop and overhaul their own RSS readers in the wake of Google Reader's termination on July 1st, leaving Anton Tolchanov, Elena Bulygina, and Dmitry Krasnoukhov exhausted. The team described their life as "hell in every possible aspect we could imagine" as they tried to keep pace with rival services. However, It appears this may no longer be an issue and the team say they will provide another update later this week, signing off their blog post with a grovelling apology: "Sorry about Monday. Again."

The Nissan GT-R gets to 60 in 2.7 seconds. That's fast. Nissan doesn't think that's fast enough. Rumor has it a Nismo tuned version is coming to Tokyo this year that will get to 60 in two seconds flat. Holy hell.

DMZ has filed for bankruptcy, less than a week after his latest DUI arrest.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the New York native filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday in Manhattan bankruptcy court. The petition lists $1 million to $10 million in debt and less than $50,000 in assets.

The 42-year-old also owes $1.24 million in child support, as well as $21,000 on an auto lease.

The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested last week in South Carolina for drunk driving. But a statement released on his behalf said that he was actually charged for driving without a license. He was released after posting $1,235 in bail.

“Allegations about DMX being arrested for drunk driving are false. He was arrested early this morning but quickly released,” the statement said. “X was given a breathalyzer test and easily passed it. He is back at his home in South Carolina and we are continuing our focus on his upcoming album and acting roles.”

DMX was also arrested for driving without a license in February.

Domenick Nati, a representative for DMX, said that the rapper’s previous managers didn’t make his child support payments, and that his “large amount of unpaid child support” prevented him from getting a passport. According to the State Department, you can’t get a passport if you owe $2,500 or more in child support.

“DMX’s financial strains have been inhibiting his career for several years. Poor financial management by prior representation have caused him to be ineligible to retain a passport,” Nati said. “The purpose of this bankruptcy filing is for reorganization so he can perform for his fans oversees [sic]. We are currently planning a tour in Europe and Africa for the fall of 2013.”

DMX has sold over 30 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling rappers of all time.

How the hell could we let a day this important go by without properly recognizing it?

According to the calendar, July 31 is National Orgasm Day and it happens to fall on Hump Day this year. Ha! Get it? Hump Day! Whatever. To that end, I want to share a puzzling yet funny video I watched the other day that shows a girl pretty much finding her happy place through music.

This seems like a combination of Nerdy Love Song and Cats Demand to be Petted. Riley Brown tries her best to continue playing the song, despite an overly needy cat. I think I know the problem: she's in the bathroom for the acoustics, and cats know that when you sit on a toilet, you have nothing better to do than pet a cat. For the longest time, Apple's supporters had an easy retort to anyone that said the iPhone was getting crushed in market share.

They could just say, "Yes, it only has 15% of the smartphone market share, but it has the majority of its profits."  

They're probably going to have to start thinking up a new defense because Apple is about to lose its lead in smartphone industry profit share. 

Canaccord Genuity is out with its quarterly look at the "value share" in the smartphone market. It uses operating profit estimates from each major smartphone maker to come up with a look at which companies are making money. 

Samsung and Apple are the only companies with positive share. Apple has 53% of industry profits, and Samsung has 50%. Apple, however, had 71% last year. Samsung was at 37%. 

In the chart below, you can see the trend is clear. Samsung keeps taking share, Apple keeps losing share. With Apple planning a lower-cost iPhone, we doubt it's the profit share leader this time next year.

This is the thing to do with that old broken-down wreck in your neighbor’s yard. Sneak over there, steal it, and then turn it into a twelve foot tall mech. I’d like to think he took it upon himself to rid the neighborhood of an eyesore and create this wonder. It’s also got about a ton of other scrap metal built in and took him a whole month to build.
